Violent Game law to Kill Call of Duty?
Ramaniscence replied to Overflow's topic in General Discussion
In Florida, it's not really. Alcohol can only be sold in an liquor store. A lot of grocery stores here will have another store attached to them (but not within the actual same store) that sells alcohol. So ya'know...that's the equivalent of having "GameStop" and "GameStop 4 Adults"...which...sounds like a-...nm -

I searched Google News, and this is the only thing I could find relevant to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySPe0rQaPx4 In it he doesn't say it's inevitable, but he says it's a "Chernobyl in the making." From what I understand, Chernobyl used graphite as a neutron moderator. This was double bad because as the core heated up, so did the moderator, and graphite is also flammable, so everything gets too hot, boom, 25% of the core itself shoots up through the roof into the atmosphere, and well...massive radiation. In Japan, they use water as a neutron moderator. As the core heats up, the neutron moderator becomes inactive, which makes the reactions stop, which should in turn stop the core from heating up at a rapid pace. Also water won't EXPLODE from getting too hot. Darkesword could probably clarify, but that's just the situations as I understand them.

Fucking LOVE Ke$ha.

I had the same problem. She wakes up, gets in the car to go to school, school is then immediately not even mentioned and then it's Friday night? Why not just start the song AFTER SCHOOL? That would've made more sense. They also mention the bus twice, but she doesn't even RIDE THE BUS DDDDDD:

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-03-13/hydrogen-explosion-at-japan-s-fukushima-dai-ichi-no-3-reactor.html This does not bode well at all Also, from the article: Now, that's not fallout they're talking about, but am I to understand this is something different than what was previously said about the main concern being the nuclear waste getting into the water supply?

To answer this question, if you come the week before Nerdapalooza, it'll be 4th of July week. In all likelihood Orlando will be EXTREMELY busy during that time, which is why we avoid it for Nerdapalooza in general. The week itself would probably not be as bad, but I'd really advise just staying the week after.

That soccer one was pretty much the best thing ever. -
None of the above. Yes.

Let's be honest here. She could be putting out some of the best songs EVER and the videos would be better than the songs. Just get naked. Geez. Post edited to improve thread quality: I agree with Flare4War

Ohai. Also: yeaaa I'm prolly going to look into this one... I don't know how I feel about it being made easier. On one hand I'm feel like "man, what a bunch of babies", but on the other hand I feel like...how often to Japanese gamers complain about difficulty? o.o

Cutscene lying in the age of photo-realism

I honestly can't tell anymore if it's about cutscenes, or trailers, or what can be attained in modern graphics engines. Title =! Subject =! context -
Cutscene lying in the age of photo-realism
Ramaniscence replied to Wacky's topic in General Discussion
"The game engine can render the cutscenes" and "The cutscenes use the the same models as the game" Are both very different statements. Yes, Metal Gear solid cutscenes are rendering using the games graphic engine, rather than the a pre-render cutscene. HOWEVER if you think that a close-up on Snake's face is the same face that's when he's running around 20' from the camera, you're fooling yourself. Metal Gear also did a LOT of close-up shots, and very few wide shots, specifically so they can get away with they kind of stuff. Every shot has a different model, texture, bump map, normal map, that they dial up and down depending on how much is on the screen that they can work with. A lot of scenes have special models specifically for them. This is the same in rendered AND pre-rendered. So to answer your question as to whether or not we've reached an age where pre-rendered cutscenes are unnecessary: It depends on what they're doing. How many characters are on the screen? How detailed are those characters? What're they wearing? Body suites? Belts, chains, etc? Long flowing cloth? Short, static cloth? Are there explosions? Water? Hair? Fur? Is the background pre-rendered? Or a Matte? Or environment fogged? Is it a room? A city? A landscape? Is their motion blur? What FPS are we shooting for? Close in shot? Far away shot? Night? Day? Direct sunlight? Overcast? Rain? Snow? Is the snow particles or is it sprites? How fast is the wind moving? I could go on forever. So yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it's not really so cut and dry. Also, on what seemed to be the actually subject based on the title, but seems to not actually be, I don't know? Photo-realism has never been beyond our grasp as a concept. There are sculptures from the renaissance that had veins and arteries and are practically 1:1 real life. We're just limited by the power of our hardware which.............THAT won't last long. But then you get into the whole problem where IRL looks so familiar to us that anything that looks even the slightest bit off looks extremely stranger because it looks kind of familiar but...off. Which is when the uncanny valley comes into play. -
http://nerdapalooza.org/2011/03/04/march-of-the-nerds/ This year's dates and venue HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED. This year's Nerdapalooza is going to be absolutely BANANAS. Soo... How does one boost youtube views?
Ramaniscence replied to CyprusX's topic in General Discussion
I did my article this week on YouTube video optimization for bands and musicians. I replied to a lot of what people said here, echo'd a lot of what has been mentioned already, and threw in a bit more detail on some specific things. Also gave you a pretty substantial shoutout, Cyprus. Hope you can get a few more views out of it
