  2. this is gonna be awesome, I would have never ever ever considered the track I got, but I think I can make something really special. :-)

<3 to you guys for running this. <3<3

<3 to you for completing songs for it =P

Oh, I got it. Thanks for the clarification.

I'll take the track given. It'll be tough, but that's why it's a CHALLENGE, people. Let's see what I can do with it, now.. :<

    FYI: You got mine again.

    So ya'know, no pressure.

    ...again.

  3. All challenges HAVE BEEN SENT.

Make sure to check the e-mail you signed up for your challenge, also

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CONFIRM YOUR CHALLENGE.

If you do not confirm within the allotted your song may be re-entered into the pool.

If you ACCEPT your challenge, you can start mixing now. Otherwise re-rolls will be issued early Wednesday AT THE LATEST.

  4. So no re-rolls this time, huh?

This was a lot of fun last time around. I'll probably sign up again. I have no idea what source to request, though. But I will come up with something good. ^_^

Depending on the number of requests to remixers there may be a situation similar to last year where we allow one, permanent re-roll.

Definitely no more than that, though.

  5. Just for clarification:

    1. The reason we're using the sign-up forms this year, as opposed to the forum reply/PM signup and requests is so that people interested aren't required to be registered on both ThaSauce and OCReMix.

    2. This year we are doing ReMixer sign-ups and song requests at the same time. This means: we are accepting song requests now as well as remixer sign-ups.

  6. Freshly Baked ReMixer Challenge 2010

The official Freshly Baked ReMixer Challenge webpage is located here: http://thasauce.net/FBRC2010/

What is the Freshly Baked ReMixer Challenge?

The Freshly Baked ReMixer Challenge is an annual video game remixing challenge hosted by ThaSauce, Video Game Remix news portal. During the challenge, mixers are assigned a remixing request, at random, and given an appointed amount of time to complete it. The requests come from members in the community, and as a result everyone is potentially given a chance to have their request filled, and remixers have a chance to exercise or demonstrate their musical prowess.

PLEASE NOTE: This challenge is meant to be just that: A CHALLENGE. By entering this competition you are signing up for, and agreeing to have your skills challenged. While personal preference plays a big part in the creative process, and while you should make music for yourself before anything else, this is, again, a CHALLENGE. This will include working under strict time constraints and may also mean having to mix something you don't necessarily like. If you choose to not accept, then you fail the challenge. Do not expect us to re-roll your match-up until you get "something you like."

    STAGE 1: MAY 24 2010 - JUNE 02 2010, 11:59 PM PST

    STAGE 2: JUNE 07 2010 - AUGUST 14 2010, 11:59 PM PST

Who Can Sign-Up? Who Can Request?

During stage 1 we will be accepting ReMixer sign-ups and song requests.

The challenge is open to any artists, experienced or new. The artist will be challenged to remix 1 song.

Any member of the community can make 1 request. These requests must follow the request guidelines and be made in private. You cannot discuss the song that you have requested until all challenges are accepted and stage 2 has begun.

How do I Sign-Up? How Can I Make a Request?

SIGN UPS: Go to http://thasauce.net/FBRC2010/artist-signup.php to sign up.

REQUESTS: The remix request must be sent via http://thasauce.net/FBRC2010/song-request.php and must contain the following:

    1. The name of the original song, game and track.

    2. A link to the original track to download. The original format is preferred (i.e. SPC, NSF) but MP3 is acceptable.

    3. A YouTube link to the requested song.

    4. A midi, if at all possible. The more sources you are able to provide, the more likely your requested track is to be remixed. Please note that vgmusic.com does not allow direct linking, however you can link the page with the download link for the midi - please specify file name.

    Request Guidelines

During stage 1 any community member can submit a challenge; Be it a specific song from a game, or anything from a game's soundtrack. Challengers MUST include a source tune for reference. ALL CHALLENGERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PICK SONGS WITH STRONG MELODIC CONTENT WITH SOURCES THAT ARE NOT DIFFICULT TO LOCATE. This is merely a suggestion as the easier it is for a remixer to get a midi, or familiarity with a song, the more likely the finished project will be a quality piece of work. Each user is only allowed 1 challenge.

Keep in mind: Your requests will be given to artists throughout the community with various levels of skill.

All remix requests must be made in private. ReMixers already in the challenge are allowed to issue requests, however they may not be selected to remix their own request. Requests posted in the thread will be ignored and may not be considered for submission. We reserve the right to reject requests.

    The Match-Ups

Once we populate a list of mixers and challenges, a script will be created and will distribute the songs to each mixer. There will be grace period of a few days while we sort everything out, and following that we will begin stage 2. Mixers will have 2 months to complete their challenge. In the event that there are more challenges than mixers (which is likely) a mixer may randomly select another song from the pool only after they have successfully finished their initial challenge (a COMPLETED and QUALITY remix).

The History of the Freshly Baked ReMixer Challenge

In 2002 a forum user name "I Like Cookies!" (now just Jeff), ran a 1-shot competition called the Freshly Baked ReMixer challenge. In the thread artists signed up and were assigned challenges posted by other forum users. This is how artists like myself, Suzumebachi, and GLL all got our starts. There were also some other impressive tracks by Disco Dan and a few others.

  7. What is the best way to get a site optimized? Ramaniscence, you know your stuff, but I don't know how much you can say, lol.

Is going through an optimization service the best way to get your website up there? Are there even any other options?

Good optimization requires pretty constant upkeep. Finding out what keywords you're going for, targeting them, optimizing for them, watching what works and what doesn't, changing the system, seeing what people are searching for, deciding if you want to target that, shifting the whole site toward those changes, etc etc etc. I can tell you it's always something you absolutely don't expect, too.

Actual SEO services do this stuff pretty much the whole time, which is why they're nice, but they can be REALLY expensive.

Some reallyyy helpful tools are Google Analytics and Google Web Master tools. They REALLY help out if you know how o use them. There's also a link on mashable that'll really help out if I can find it.

And it's very important to remember you're not just optimizing your "site" you're optimizing everthing. Every page, every post, everything. Title tags, title description, content, links, the whole deal.

    Edit:

http://mashable.com/2010/05/21/surprising-social-media-business-success/ <-- this. Specifically the video.

  8. o.o?

He's on the provisional team. I didn't Brazil selected their World Cup line-up yet.

    TO THE GOOGLES.

    Snap. Owned:

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Gomes (Tottenham Hotspur), Victor (Gremio)

Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Alex (Chelsea), Juan (AS Roma), Lucio (Bayern Munich), Luisao (Benfica), Kleber (Internacional), Andre Santos (Corinthians).

Midfielders: Anderson (Manchester United), Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos), Josue (VfL Wolfsburg), Ramires (Cruzeiro), Elano (Manchester City), Felipe Melo (Fiorentina), Julio Baptista (AS Roma), Kaka (AC Milan)

Forwards: Alexandre Pato (AC Milan), Luis Fabiano (Sevilla), Nilmar (Internacional), Robinho (Manchester City).

  9. I've been listening to the "Official Theme" or whatever the eff you want to call it, anyway I fricken LOVE it.

Anyway the first round match-ups are pretty sick in themselves. I was checking out the schedule yesterday: USA vs UK, Germany vs. Ghana, Portugal vs Brazil.

I'm prettyyy damn excited. I was hoping Venezuela would actually make it this year but :(. I REALLY want to see Ghana go all the way this year, but I also wouldn't mind seeing Brazil/or Ronaldinho have SOME KIND of redemption D:

  10. I think Ideally, I would like to have one website that is at the top of Google for wedding photography, wedding dj, wedding services searches, bring as much traffic through that site first...

Without giving too much away (I work at at a web-design/web marketing company and my boss would probably kill me if I went around telling ALL the secrets) what you want to do is target, what they call, "long tail searches."

A short tail search is something like... "wedding dj" a long tail search is something like "wedding dj in whatever city that plays a lot of country music" or something along those lines. Short tail searches are very specific, and at first you'll only see like 1 or 2 searches for them, but those people know exactly what they want, and they're more likely to convert. So you might see people searching for "wedding dj in orlando that plays a lot of country music", "country wedding dj in orlando", "country music orland wedding planner" and then you'd know that you want to target this long tail search.

All of this while you're still optimizing for your "level A service", which is your prime service, and the most competitive. As well as your level A geography. Both are going to be VERY hard to get to the #1 spot in google, BUTTTTTtttttttttttttt...

That's why you also make, and be active with, a Facebook profile, and twitter profile, and YouTube (yes YouTube) profile that're all also optimized. So then you might not be #1 on google for any given service, but you'll be 3, 4, 7, and the video on the bottom of the page.

(Do not discount social media, and social marketing, and Facebook especially. People are a lot more apt to trust something that has a ton of fans/likes, plus has an active presence and ESPECIALLY if they have people within their own social circle who already like/fan it). There's actually huge conversations going on about this because google doesn't index facebook, but facebook is becoming a much better way for people to get recommendations that'll actually convert but.........totally different discussion.

Having a blog really helps with keywords/ranking as well as how often you get indexed.

AND, if you can get the page rank high enough, having multiple sites that feed into 1 site can actually be beneficial, but you have to know what you're doing.

Anyway, like I said. Basics. Can't given away too much >_>.

  11. A little late to the party, but I def hope you had a good one. Happy birthday Sgt Rama!

Also, looking forward to this year FBRC. ;)

    IT'S COMIN' SOOOOON.

We're in the planning stages, actually. Expect something sooner than you may think :o

    Also to everyone else:

    THANKS! :D

  12. So basically it's a bit like Keiii's entry for last month?

    I'm a bit lost...

From what I understand, it's like....

Imagine if Mario was the thin one, and Luigi were the fat one.

    Other good examples are:

"Does is metroid's HAND his gun?"

    and

"Does Zelda hold his sword with his left hand or his right?"

    =P

    So like.............

    Bowser the super thin lizard...

    Samus the d00d.

    Thrall the Draenei.

    Injecting Protoss Kerrigan :o

    Female Ryu

Also: I'm so down for this. Hopefully work doesn't swamp me again this month >_<

  13. Ya know, its funny cause i've done 4 Battle network remixes so far, lol. One of thme is from the first game, the others are from 3, 4, and 6. My fav so far is the hero theme remix from 6 which is up on ReMix:Thasauce. I really wanna be part of this but don't know if i've got the time.

Let me know what the deadline/timeframe is and i can probably make time. That is of course, if your willing to have me be a part. :D

I saw this on Twitter, and my FIRST thought was "...I wonder if NintenJoe-..." oh there he is =P
