I say things negative about Nintendo all the time. In fact, lots of people have said negative things in this thread.
And not entirely sure how that relates to anything, at all. Topic really wasn't even 100% Nintendo related at the time. Easy way to cop out?
-
lol me too The Damned. Still terribly confused by that one
-
I'm not "dumb", that is what Nintendo said.
Maybe read the thread? Last thing posted in this thread were people upset that it was only limited to one tablet. I just posted the good news is that might not be the case.
And the GC didn't stream video to the GBA. The GBA generated the video seperately.
Not entirely sure what your problem is.
-
i suppose it is good news too bad thats already pretty well known
SO well known it was only reported a few days ago and nobody posted about it here.
-
the fact that the chip can stream sd video streams does not imply that the tablet is SD you are retarded
Uh, are you implying that the tablet screen is HD? Why would they use anything more than 480p on a controller. Plus read the statements from people who've actually used the unit. Also note that this is Nintendo. Who doesn't like to spend a lot of money. The unit isn't even multi touch and you think its HD? And you are calling me retarded?
but on top of that obviously its not gonna be 1920X1280 or something like that for the tablet that would also be retarded
What are you even talking about? This statement makes no sense.
so double dumb for a) poor inferences and implied complaints for something that isn't anywhere close to a problemI posted GOOD news. The ability to stream up to 4 different video streams means that it is possible to have more than one tablet. I also listed the possible configurations.
Did you even read my post?

Some interesting news:
The Wii U is using Radeon HD 4xxx series (R770) based custom GPU, which in comparison, the 360 is using an HD X100 (R520) based custom chip and the PS3 is similar to nVidia GeForce 7800 (G70).
The chip is capable of streaming up to four SD video streams. Tablet = SD res.. hmm.
So the whole "only 1 Wii U tablet" is not a hardware limitation.
Also, Shigeru himself has been quoted to say they have not ruled out the possibility, they are just not focusing on that at this point in time.
The only thing I think holding them back is the fact that you probably couldn't do HD 1080p and have more than 1 tablet going. But knock down the main TV to SD, 3 tablets, or no TV, 4 tablets. In theory at least
-
Well they didn't actually hack the secure part of the senates website according to the senate, just the public access side. Of course leaving that tidbit out makes it sound more impressive.
Either way uh they may want to watch messing with ye ole gov. Seems rather dangerous considering the resources the us gov might have to counter attack.
Oh no they've hacked minecraft! Now im convinced they are super hackers because I know notch is THE best coder!1!!
-
See the difference here is that you are making a lot of assumptions and we are not
Actually, you are assuming that they have good security and doing everything they can when theres evidence they don't / aren't. Im just being far more realistic than just assuming everybody did their job perfectly and the world is great.
Where do you draw the line exactly regarding what is sufficient and insufficient security?Pretty much at if Lulz can get in. There's also a standard of security practice, known bad security habits, etc.
And how do you know LulzSec are not extremely good or determined at hacking stuff ?This is a serious question? Their name says it all. Their moto is they do it for Lulz. They've used relatively simple methods so far. Why do you assume they are master hackers with unbelievable skills?
How can you be sure that Nintendo, Epic, Bethesda and Codemasters had insufficient securityLevel of breach, and responce.
Nintendo actually has had no consumer data stolen, and the 2nd attack was a phishing scam and not anything to do with their website, but they fixed it anyways. Codemasters found that they had a breach, immediately shut down the site, but unfortunately customer data was stolen before they could react to it. Epic same as Codemasters wasn't able to respond in time to the attack, but letting everybody know they use encrypted passwords and a forced password reset are good responses. None of the important stuff like CC data was leaked. Bethesda has had people browsing their data for over a month apparently. Still are according to Lulz
If these game serversWe are not talking about game servers. We are talking about servers with customer data.
What we DO know however is that entering these sites and compromising the information they contain is criminal and wrong.Never argued against that.
Basically, both of us are assuming things. Unless you work for a game company that got hacked, or a part of Lulz, neither one of us know 100% for fact. I think my views are slightly more realistic though, considering the evidence. But that is my opinion of my opinion, which might be biased
who are you, Crowbar Man?Just your friendly neighborhood Crowbar Man

but the 3ds and vita both just seem sort of outdated to me. my friends and i do most portable gaming through the app store or android market at this point and it just seems like that's the way portable gaming is headed, realistically.
Also a reminder: PlayStation Suite, Sony's "app store" for PlayStation "approved" android devices, will be on the Vita. So it'll have an app store too.
-
Because the people who "need to get better security" didn't do anything wrong.
Well, yes, yes they did! They didn't have good security. Customers are trusting them with their data, and they aren't protecting it. That is wrong. How could having low/bad/no security, and/or not protecting the data past that security be "right" and/or "not doing anything wrong"?
Scores of high-profile, multi-billion dollar companies and organizations have no idea what they're doing when it comes to internet securityWhy are you so set that's an absolute impossibility? Lulz has broken into sites with a simple SQL injections, sites which had everything stored in plaintext. There are some companies, yes even major corporations, who are handling data in a very unsecured and dangerous way. Maybe not all of them, but not sure why the possibility just can't exist, and that everybody on the victim side did everything right. That is a bit sugar coated.
For those who have everything up to date, and using good security practices, and keeping data encrypted, well, they probably wouldn't be broken in by Lulz for sure, but tough break
To those that are more than likely running off little or no security, practicing bad security habits, and/or have everything in plaintext: These companies are negligent and incompetent. And again, in the wrong for it
You are making Lulz out to be some hyper awesome cyber attackers who can break down anything. That is not the case.
-
Not sure why you continue to assume im defending the hackers.
But also not sure why defend people who obviously need to get better security.
As I've stated both sides are in the wrong.
Its really kinda sad to see all these companies big or small falling to some script kiddies attacks.
-
If they are going to get hacked eventually, why does the fact that they've been hacked for the 'lulz' prevent them from being hacked by thieves down the line ?
If, like you are saying, they are gonna get hacked anyways, wouldn't the preferable way by being hacked as seldom as possible ?
I think the point here is to do something about the poor security so the worse case scenario is less likely to happen. Not just use the same obviosly broken security again
Basically if you get hacked majorly by these guys there's something very wrong with your setup
-
Also keep in mind the original psp as crippled and broken as it was at launch has a lot more devloper support and games now. Its pretty healthy in terms of content and sales. No where near ds but still doing very well on its own. That marginal success will carry over both with consimers and devs. As long as everybody forgets about the Go.
-
Yeah, I don't see it being used by many games. But still its there if a dev wants it.
It also looks like some of the developers know not to push gimmicks with the new Vita features, Uncharted has lots touch/etc features, but are completely optional to use or not.
Still remains, PSP lacked features DS had, and had design flaws. Vita, so far, looks like a better platform as a whole, matching everything the competition has and then some. The only thing it "lacks" this time is 3D, which so far hasn't been proven a good selling point for 3DS after all
-
If they couldn't do it last time, why should that change this time? While it may have some new tricks up its sleeve, it's the natural progression of the first hardware. Nothing has really changed this time.
Actually most of the things that held the PSP back are pretty much fixed with Vita. Disc based media with slow load times? Gone. No touch screen? 2 multi touch areas. One bad analog nub? Two working analog sticks. They are pushing for the casual stuff now with PlayStation Suite android market-like stuff, and having about every feature you can get on a tablet these days.
A very interesting approach over all, a big improvement over PSP and the ridiculous Go.
As far as the memory cards, they look similar to Sony's Memory Stick Micro (M2) but with less slots on the side.. officially they have not announced its media expansion slot's format, which is odd. It may unfortunately wind up being proprietary to Vita :/
-
Sorry I completely forgot about my "NGP" thread.
The $249 is insanely competitive, it makes the 3DS look retarded expensive in comparison. Great price for a change
This picture is the Vita's game media, currently called "NVG" cards, proprietary flash carts not unlike 3DS. They come in 2GB and 4GB for devs to use, and have space writable for game saves, patches, etc.
this one is just a comparison of standard SD card size
Bad news is UMDs, like the Go, do not in any form work on the PS Vita.
Good news, if you did buy stuff off PSN, I believe its been confirmed it will work on the Vita

PriZm: How do you mean? You could at least say why. I dont pretend to know everything, but if I've stated something wrong there point it out so I can correct myself.
EDIT:
You may have misunderstood my post, because its rather randomly put together and rambling.
Basically all I said was Nintendo wont be adding PlayStation games to their Virtual Console service, so FFVII being a VC release is impossible. FFVII can be released as "Wii U Ware" download or plain ol disc, but not VC.
If you understood my post, I don't know how i could "have no idea what im talking about"
-
Legality is iffy, if they completely reverse engineered the BIOS themselves it could be legal, but its a pretty grey area at best.
Most PS1 emulators just use a BIOS rip, which is perfectly legal to rip yourself, but not legal to distribute in any fashion. Which Nintendo would need be.
They could get a license to use Sony's PSX emulator they use on PSP/PS3, but I dont think out of pride or competition purpose Nintendo would EVER pay Sony a dime for anything
Theres also the fact that since they are PlayStaion rips, and the name "PlayStation" would be used in the category, they would have to pay Sony some sort of license fee to use them to begin with.
Overall, I dont think Nintendo would promote the PlayStation brand in any fashion, so VC release seems largely impossible.
A port in a Wii U Ware or disc release would be the only possibility IMO. Heck, Square could even license the PSX emulator themselves that way if they wanted to be super lazy. I just dont see Nintendo ever adding PlayStation category to VC
-
The Damned: If it was released on VC, the most you'd get is a resolution bump. VC = emulators running the original ROM/ISO. So no remake or anything. It would have to be a Wii U Ware or just disc release to be a remake. Also, I'm not sure how it could possibly be on the VC, as I don't think Nintendo would ever feature Sony / PlayStation console emulators, but I could be wrong. I think maybe that website isn't so reliable
-
Well to be fair, we are discussing FF7 in the Wii U thread! lol
Though, the lack of info right now makes the topic hard to continue so it'll probably just die until TGS if we dont have much else to talk about
-
Due to some disagreements and personal matters, sometime in the near future I may be looking for someone else to host the currently "unofficial" OCR server. I don't feel I can do a good job as I used to. I already have some candidates interested but the more options I have to choose from the better!
This isn't something urgent, just thought I'd let everybody know
Note: this is personal, not financial, no donations to "help" please
Some MZ server news:
2 new MC mod canidates/requests:
HalcyonSpirit (i think it was him?)
BigGiantCircles
Whats everybody think?
Also, minor note, MZ MC Website shows whos playing online now since Multiplay updated their XML output to show that now. Not that that will matter in the future
Also Multiplay is updating to newest bukkit RB, i'll proably restart the server later to test

Some people (well, all "core" audiences) want twin analog classic design that is used on every modern console today except missing from the Wii (sans the Classic controller which no game supports practically). Some seem to perfer the wiimote+nunchuck for comfort, but not particularly for actual gameplay (lack of buttons, forced waggle, etc) ... at least the Wii U seems to be offering multiple configuations. Hopefully most games will support: Wiimote*, Wiimote*+Nunchuck, Wii U Tablet, and/or Classic Controller. So theres a controller for everybody. That would be optimum, but Nintendo hasn't done well requiring devs to support multiple controllers with the Wii so I guess we'll see
*as i mentioned earlier, for motion based games, hopefully Motion Plus supported/required

Well heres a shot at staying on topic:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-wii-u/716071
Another video of the Zelda Wii U Graphical Tech Demo (this one up close) for those who haven't seen it. Again, just a tech demo, may not even be on real / final hardware
1st Party games so far:
Some of these tablet demos im sure will be featured in some sort of Wii U Play
Super Smash Bros installment
Pikmin 3
I think this is about all the info we'll get until TGS
Edit: some more "Tech Specs" so far, since Nintendo doesn't like to talk about that:
CPU: IBM Power Architecture multicore (some rumors floating around based on Watson tech)
GPU: ATI, Custom based on Radeon HD series (which one who knows)
So, at least they've moved off single core and into modern 3D tech.

Ironically, example given FF7 had the most ground breaking graphics of its time. Now why would you play it? Story, Gameplay, Music, etc. Thats why people clammer for a remake, the only thing that doesn't stand the test of time IS graphics. So in the end they don't really matter.
And honestly at this point, they probably aren't going to improve that dramatically simply because the cost of doing so keeps rising. If WiiHD can do 360/PS3 level graphics in 1080p that would be enough IMO. PS3/360 can't do (natively) 720p half the time. If it can do better, well great too, but its not going to make any major impact.
And if PS4/XboxWhatever can do better than that, it wont matter to Nintendo, they have this tablet idea they've focused on anyway, they will continue making Nintendo games and let PS4/XboxWhatever continue the endless "graphic arms" race that just costs more than its worth to Nintendo
As long as they dont scare off 3rd party support like they usually do they will be more than fine. I just hope, unlike Wii, they will focus more on making their games top notch and less throwing gimicks at everything, but this Tablet kinda screams gimmicks so i guess we'll see. At least it has a normal control scheme again (dual analogs, buttons, etc)

The gpu handles video processing not the streaming itself. It can display up to 4 different seperate feeds, like a multi display monitor setup on a PC. We don't know much about the hardware (or software) so how it travels from the gpu buffer to the tablet itself is currently unknown to the public
Also no surprise: No DVD or BD movie playback on the Wii U
Not sure if this confirms their proprietary format is based on a single layer bd (25 GB), otherwise not sure why they would need to mention BD
