  1. Been his listener for quite a while
  2. Well, I'm probably gonna record a live bass, but that will have to wait some time, left it at home and I'm not going home until December. For the piano, I actually already found a person who can record it so live piano should be in the next version. About the "strings", they were supposed to sound synth-ish, mainly because I wanted the whole piece to be based on Vangelis' "Chariots Of Fire". However, if I manage to find some decent samples I might work on that too.
  3. For those not familiar with source: Remix here: Well, long time since I did anything (blame college). Here's a track I started while being a little drunk yesterday Arrangement is pretty much done, just need to add small variations, probably needs a bit more humanizing on the piano and some tweaks on the mixing. Also, this recording is a bit buggy and silent as I had to use Audacity because FL's renderer decided to stop rendering certain plugins...
  4. Can a n00b like me try and get his hands on one track?
  5. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - Last Castle
  6. Surprised nobody mentioned this: Which is obviously:
  7. Here's a little longer post about my view of the "decline" of video game music: Speaking technically, we can't say video game music is declining. Same like every other aspect of the game is improving, so is the music. But the problem isn't really in it's improvement, it's the direction towards which it is improving to. Today's big budget games' soundtracks are all going for the same "epic" feeling. Arrangement-wise, it's awesomely composed, it is played by experienced musicians, ensembles and what not. So what's wrong with that? Well, as much as I love that kind of music, having the same (genre-wise) stuff in every game can get pretty monotonous. And in that monotony, you don't notice an occasional gem, and therefore you won't consider the music as good as all those masterpieces on for example the SNES. For example: I played FF 12 before I played FF 5, and while battling Gilgamesh in 12 I noticed some cool tune playing in the background, the orchestral version of "Battle on the big bridge", but I quickly forgot it. Later when I played 5, and battled against Gilgamesh again, the tune immediately stuck in my head but I didn't even notice it was the same (well, with different arrangement), I only realized it later after searching for it on youtube. So basically what I'm saying is that today's mainstream VGM is not lacking the melody, but the musical diversity of old games' music. True that there are always some new games with soundtracks that don't comply to that "rule", but those are mostly not some big budget games that everyone in the whole world has played, and therefore don't get the recognition, unlike old games where a hit game was sure to have a diverse and melodic soundtrack, mostly because of technical limitations.
  8. Finally, after almost 8 months since I had the idea for this remix and after starting it many times from scratch, my remixer skills finally got to the lever where this mix sounds just the way I imagined it Hope you enjoy this while I'm bumpin it for mod review, links are in the 1st post
  9. I'm making my music as a hobby. If someone suggests I should submit it, I guess I'd try, but otherwise I'm not really confident in the quality of my works Edit: Fixed couple of parts I wasn't completely satisfied with.
  10. Back with this track, started from scratch once again xD I completely changed the synths, but kept overall arrangement close to the last version. Also I think the mixing is done a little better. Feedback appreciated!
  11. Just quickly listened through it, amazing how much can be done with one source. Didn't expect any lyrics, last track surprised me xD
  12. Likewise. Although I got a little bored of it after going through my mix some omfgjusttoomany times while working on it.
  13. Updated, a little less repetitive, volume turned down in the beginning, added couple of more sections to the end.
  14. Made this in couple of hours this morning, I hope I'll finish it soon. Enjoy, feedback is appreciated.
  15. Lowered the reverb a bit, and edited some minor details that bugged me. Bumpin' for mod review.
  16. Added another section, and it's done. However, feedback and comments are appreciated
  17. Sources: - Digimon World 1 - Machinedramon Battle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTwb0FT1k9s - Digimon World 2 - Normal Battle Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKgvvDevskQ - Xenogears - Awakening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMXr2hKIgMw Hardest part was probably mixing the drums, and there could be some more work done there. I like the sound I got with the gated distorted synth, serves as some kind of driving force. Upbeat tune, fit for a final boss, hope you enjoy it
  18. How are we supposed to know if our mix is accepted or not? Haven't received any pm so I don't know if I should send a fix...
  19. Wow you have a really amazing voice. Reminded me of Andrea Corr Hope we're gonna hear it in an official ReMix soon
  20. Lul now that I see how many ppl are in this, gonna be hard to get listeners for my track
  21. They're probably remaking FF X cause it will require less work than going from scratch with older FFs. Played enough through the original FF X so I doubt I'll ever be playing this one. Besides, Spoony said it all: http://spoonyexperiment.com/2010/03/11/it-begins-again/
