  1. (Sigh) sorry guys, I hate that it has come to this, but I'll be needing to drop out of this round. Life stuff happened, and there was literally no time that I could have spent to work on my remix.

If I had a WIP, I'd absolutely submit it if I could, but I simply didn't have the time available to work on something.

Sorry again, especially to @Mak Eightman. I've been listening to your stuff, and I definitely think you would have won this round based on your previous entries!

Maybe when I start to have more free time again, I'll try to come up with a remix for our two themes as a fun side project.

  2. Either way, shifting attention towards the Pancakes as they stand... the bulk of them have stated at least some sign of progress, but any idea where Arceace currently stands? He's the only one that didn't post since the matchups were announced o_O

I'm here! I've just been really busy with college and work for the past week. Looking forward to hear what everyone is coming up with for this week!

  3. Arceace - First of all how the hell do you pronounce your handle? Nobody was really sure during the OCR Talkback for Temporal Duality, and I'm sure we all sounded like a bunch of dummies :P

The way that I originally intended it to be pronounced is Are-Cease. ("Are" as in a pirates favorite letter, and "Cease" as in cease and desist.)

However, I have no problem going by my real name either. Feel free to call me whatever you guys want! I really only have the name Arceace because It's a name that's almost guaranteed not to be taken when I register for a website.

Edit: I've been reading some of the feedback you guys have been leaving for me, and I just wanted to thank everyone for being constructive and optimistic! It means a lot to me that you are willing to go out of your way to help newbies like myself.

  4. I remix songs that leave an impact on me. There are a lot of wonderful songs from modern VGM, but I haven't heard many that stick with me as much as the ones from the games I played as a kid. However, I don't think that this preference is limited solely to my favorite childhood games.

Recently I've discovered the Turtles In Time sound track for the SNES. I've never played this game before, but after my first listen I was completely hooked on it. I may even consider remixing one of those themes in the near future. Since I don't have any nostalgia to go off of with this game, I think that the way older VGM is designed just clicks better with me than many of the more modern songs.

However, I am in complete agreeance that modern VGM deserves just as much attention as Older VGM.

  5. A few months ago, I heard this song and immediately fell in love with it. I started writing the remix off and on for a couple of weeks, and I feel like it's about 50% complete right now. Please forgive the low quality of the arrangement, I haven't bothered with any production, or even mixing all of the sounds properly. I'm interested in getting some thoughts on the arrangement so far, and any suggestions on how to improve it.

  6. I'm not sure if there's already another forum that addresses this topic, so if there is, feel free to send the link.

I've been getting into music production now for a good year and a half. Lately I have been talking with some of my friends and we are starting to think about getting a group together for live performances. However, I'm not sure what all is necessary to do so. I'm certain we'll need the basics like amps, mics, and various connection cables, but I would like to know how I could incorporate my electronic styles into live performance.

I have had a lot of experience with piano, so I feel that I will be using a keyboard as my primary instrument. I'm also considering looking for something similar to the Abelton Launch Pad for better sample control (something that works with FL Studio). Do any of you use this kind of equipment? is there anything else that you can recommend?
