  1. Lololol. You don't have to experience years of terrible radio to realize it's terrible. Us whipper snappers (I'm 20 as well) can figure out when stuff is bad... at least some of us* *Disclaimer - "some of us" does NOT include: frat guys, sorority girls, hipsters/scenesters, people who go to clubs on a regular basis, and most of the time anyone under 18 So basically anyone who has a hard time thinking for themselves and formulating their own opinions
  2. FINALLY. I'd mention that I myself tried to rectify the gap in SCIV subs with my very first submission, but the J's are supposed to forget about that piece of shit... Anyway, this one's awesome. Would've liked to have seen the melody given some more love, but it feels suitable to build the piece and then give the melody more attention at the end. I'm jealous of the orchestral sample power, for sure
  3. Dammit, now everyone knows about my Dark Man idea! HOW COULD YOU DO IT
  4. And also, not sure where you're getting the "deifying" part; I don't drool over halc's music. I was pointing out that his originals still have the quality of his remixes, and that there are not, in fact, as I mentioned, MIDIs for original music. But whatever man, you do you! Anyway, the point of this thread now is clearly my lessons with Doug. Wheeee! Edit: Ah, I see that Ambient already addressed the former. And can also time travel.
  5. I wouldn't say his progress is hampered in the slightest. Have you heard halc's originals? There's no MIDI rips for that stuff... And it's not like chord progressions are impossible to change in a MIDI. For some, yes, it's a way for them to get started on what they wouldn't otherwise be able to start; but for others, it's just a way to lay down the base of a mix quickly, which can be altered in any way that the musician pleases.
  6. I don't really see how MIDIs are really that much different from loops or arpeggiators; some of the work is already done for you. SOME. of the work. is done for you. You still have to figure out how to be creative with it. That being said, I work better without MIDIs, and I sequence my own drums (as sort of a pride thing, what with being a percussionist). Arpeggiators are fair game for me though; it still takes chord know-how to get complex stuff out of them
  7. Sooooo... How're the mixes comin'? Do I always have to initiate the shit talking?!
  8. We'll overdub it THE BEES AAAHHHHH GAAAWWWWDDD!!
  9. The real question is why the fuck would ANYBODY support these bills, especially in a land where we like to believe we have so much freedom
  10. It's a bit overdue, but I'd like to express the gratitude of my big brother Matt (Sonic Charlatan on the forums) and I to everyone who agreed to do interviews for us at MAGFest. If our purpose wasn't clear at the time (and for those who are curious), we're putting together a documentary (with the other co-founders of our media business, Seven Lucky Seven) on the VGM scene, with a focus on remixing and communities. Since OCR is a HUGE portion of said scene, it's been really helpful to us to have the response that we did; everyone was really approachable and willing to indulge us for the most part, and I'm EXTREMELY thankful to all of you!! We'll keep you updated on the progress of the documentary Thanks a ton you guys!! Pete
  11. Don't tempt me... And Ecto, if you shaft the number of sources in our remix after all of this, I'm going to be very disappoint
  12. ...picking up on some sarcasm here... oops sorry for ruining your SECRAT LETTERZ with muh gray bckgrnd
  13. DUDE PASOIFNDSOIUVNXIOUNVIUESWWUHYDWLVNDNXCKV It actually DOES have great music, despite being a hilariously bad game. Not to mention the non-story it has goin' on. I've been wanting to do one for a while, maybe I'll get on that soon...
  14. I hope it's butt stuff ...Too far...? Anyway, this sounds like a fun project. I'll check back in a couple weeks to see if you guys still need remixers, cause I'm musically swamped with the last round of the WCRG since I'll be my team's primary mixer and with writing original stuff to finish up an EP, plus getting settled into the percussion studio at school/preparing for placement auditions. So yeah, I'll check the thread or PM someone or whatever in a couple weeks to see if there's still a spot. Laterz!
  15. I was asking about the Wily Themes specifically, like if we can use more than one of them along with the three themes. So in theory, if we used ALL the Wily Battle themes with the 3 robot master themes, we'd have a mix with 10 sources. Not that I want to use all 10, but it might be fun to do 5 or 6
  16. Sex -> remix joke, since I included "(Source whore)" in one of my previous statements Yeah but seriously, can we use more than one Wily Battle theme? Or is that shunnable?
  17. Just to make sure, we CANNOT use more than 1 of the Wily Battle themes? (Source whore)
  18. My entire childhood is packed into these themes Tekken 2 Mega Man 8 And Earthworm Jim, but it didn't really have title/intro music Unless you count the super annoying stage introduction music
  19. There's actually a sample in FL 10 that's pretty close to what you're looking for and wouldn't require much processing (for the big snare hit, at least). Idk what you're using, but here's that path anyway. You'd have to layer it with some other snare sounds, especially for the attack. Packs > Legacy > Hits > Hit_Gs HAHA, I meant to type "here's THE path" DAT PATH
  20. Haha, this 1000x over. I'm like "jesus, I'll NEVER top that!" and then I do. Improvement is improvement
