  1. Latest (12-12) attempt. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yv_iEmnKMhXeF3hhY0JYd3MRu34MRyDM/view?usp=sharing Different drums and bass, adjustments to some instruments, and different sidechaining technique used:)
  2. Latest Attempt:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hc0q3PkEXtSO8RgV1hgy5z5frtrNH3fH/view?usp=sharing
  3. Ok, so I think I got the muddiness fixed at least some, I changed the snare a bit, I changed one of the leads, hope it's more interesting. I also brought stuff closer to center. The distortion thing you heard was a pluck bass, I changed that also. The previous version I only sidechained the lower frequencies of the bass, this time I did a normal sidechain. 11-24 edit Tried to fix last things mentioned. remix below, also in last post of thread 12-12 edit Latest attempt. Tried a few different things, Different bass, different sidechaining techniques, etc. 12-19 edit below. Thanks for feedback ahead of time! 4. Here is an MP3 version, 192 bitrate, as requested. Thanks:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/11XMp-EduHq5CvTyonfG3o8ymv_9TLjVE/view?usp=sharing
  5. Here is an updated version...I added a short intro and outro, I didn't want to pad the song too much. I altered some levels, and used my new directwave flute instrument that I created. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e740vBmCjpXJVIi_AXuvFQMqKCok0OTb/view?usp=sharing
  6. I actually just made myself a new sampled flute instrument in DirectWave. This new version was recorded in a room that wasn't as "live and ambient', and I also have four articulations (instead of two) that are chosen through velocity choice: sustain, two short articulations...double tongued...and a "legato" articulation that was played with no tongueing and a slower attack on the ADSR envelope for those samples. Also, I performed vibrato differently. I really get no time for live takes...I made the samples in 15 minutes because my wife had to pick up my daughter from school. If someone were to check my YouTube channel, they can see that I can play with a little bit of competence. Also listening again, I think my drums are too dry, I think a multiband delay might be in order there. Also, I think I agree on those synth volumes, I also think the background pads are too loud...I actually already have an updated version that addresses the synth volumes issues. Thanks for feedback, always appreciated. If I need another shot at this tune, I might add more to the beginning and end as you indicated also. Edit: What do you think of the idea of a Picardy third at the end?
  7. It's one I got for 90 bucks a few years ago, I think they're 120 now. It's a Glory flute, C foot with offset G key and split E mechanism.
  8. Edit October 11. One last revision here in this post. I added a couple tam tam hits, changed the timing of some triplets on the flute part, and also changed some notes because the reverb wasn't rendering correctly at on point....I altered the notes to get around that issue. Also made the drums just a tad more "wet", particularly the snare. Thanks! https://drive.google.com/file/d/16PhFOth7zVdJMpqnI9dHQfavfGUEV7k9/view?usp=drivesdk
  9. So this is something i wanted to try. I have a young kid and life is busy, so doing takes on the flute for a song is pretty much a no go. I played some long tones into my phone, and then loaded them into Directwave in FL studio. I didn't do a sample per note, I might try that it the future. I didn't get a chance to do different articulations either, but I think it sounds pretty decent with adjusting note lengths and velocities on the flute part. this is just a first portion, wanted feedback on sound. Thanks! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LgWnYieiPw76viv9OMvdha0R43caZpzR/view?usp=sharing
  10. Contributors 121 Posted just now This is another attempt at this tune:) I altered the drum samples...and the patterns somewhat also. I changed some of the synths. The triangle wave bass artifact that was mentioned before was probably caused by a chorus effect I didn't know I had on it I did the arrangement on Caustic 3 as I have been doing, but did a mastering pass in FL studio. Feedback appreciated! Remix https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L7bOpdY776gqACiOH960ja5_4zti03PV/view?usp=sharing Original Don't see an option to edit a post anymore...I also used low and high pass filters/shelfs on literally every individual track. It seemed to clean up the mix more than just putting those filters on the master.
  11. Here's my WIP of Terra's theme, done on FL studio mobile. The funny thing is, I just read my NO answer to my Speed Demon mix, and I played the first two sections on the little keyboard on the cell phone screen for a more organic feel, and the last section was sequenced, but I had a lot of fun automatic the sync parameter on that synth:) Thanks ahead of time for feedback. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1E5KZ4iUZbYrhs-2ue_KFUlcfTBkyCaiz/view?usp=sharing
  12. I threw it together in about a half hour. I was wondering if the instruments sounded ok, and if balance/mixing was somewhat. ok before I went further:)
  13. This is a really short intro that I put together real fast. I am curious on what some folks might think of the instrument combinations and the idea so far. Thanks!
  14. This was done on my computer using a few new tools I got. I think it sounds good, so I thought I would set it to ready for review. Thanks ahead of time! Remix https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_LDzIZmGeu39I8OeLZRF8GSaBYgCgJYM/view?usp=sharing Original
  15. It loads up Kontakt just fine, only problem is when you notate articulations, it doesn't do the keyswitch to perform the articulation. Perhaps there's a workaround, or perhaps an update at a later time?
  16. Here's the update! https://drive.google.com/file/d/10UJIB4lWUjxxYRQdVgHicA4VQ7QxG-lk/view?usp=drivesdk So I altered the bass by separating the acid sounding arp from the meat of the bass, they were indeed one instrument. The main bass is now two triangle waves, one an octave higher than the other. The NES used those for it's bass channel, I figure it might be because of fewer harmonics to interfere with other instruments? I altered the decay and sustain to try to bring more punch to the instrument without increasing it's volume. I also brought it to mono. The acid sounding instrument is now separate, and I lowered the lower frequencies of it as well as adding a high pass filter. Also, I filtered some of the lower frequencies from other instruments in the arrangement. Hopefully some of this helps, and thanks ahead of time!
  17. I recently downloaded and installed MuseScore 4, and I had read that the free MuseSounds add on sounds pretty decent, so I installed that as well. I also read that vst effects can be used....but I also stumbled upon the fact that you can write for vst instruments right from MuseScore, no ReWire or other routing needed:) I think that is great...especially since MuseScore is free and there are free vst's to be had. Also, I remember someone on here quite some time ago wanting to be able to control synths with notation, instead of a typical piano roll DAW. This lets you do that,
  18. This is another attempt at this tune. My computer died, so I arranged it on Caustic 3 on my phone, and by the time I got done with it, my PC was back up and running, and I did a final pass on it. I tried to take the judges' feedback into consideration, and I believe this take is less dense, I changed the percussion a bit (the high hats..I eliminated the closed hats, because when I tried using varying samples, it sounded like paper clips going at it in a pop can), and I used a loudness meter to try to get it at -14 LUFS. Doing that left a bit of headroom, and it seems soft....perhaps others will be able to tell me if that is so. Thanks! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1snZRLPQfAVf2hp9aSCpZldtlNI06dGJd/view?usp=share_link
  19. An attempt at the pyramid theme from Dragon Warrior 3. It's a WIP, no mastering done and work needed, as well as needing to be made longer. Feedback greatly appreciated! Remix https://drive.google.com/file/d/1__BRpUZ8nE10HlDdIknXW3mpx1t0sdgj/view?usp=share_link Original
  20. Something I made on FL mobile https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vrEbkf9D9CfUhgAweb8klXjZ8Gn2GyiW/view?usp=sharing
  21. I think the sus chord to the major chord at 40 seconds in is good, and sets up the following section nicely. Since it's boss battle music, tension is perfectly acceptable, IMO. The only thing I might add to that section is a percussion buildup that reaches it's climax immediately following the major chord at :40. You have a hit at that point, but perhaps a buildup during the sus chord and major chord would add emphasis? I'm not the most experienced writer, so consider that:)
