Can I get in on this? What a fascinating idea:)
-
This is a remix I did on FL Studio mobile, and uploaded to Soundcloud. I think it turned out pretty well, all things considered. I think Soundcloud altered the sound this a little. The sub bass seems a little enhanced compared to the WAV file, and 1k-2k seems a little suppressed. Thanks for feedback ahead of time!

1. work-in-progress WIP Terra's theme
Audiomancer replied to Audiomancer's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I might get to work more with this soon. I have had long hours at work, received a promotion, and have moved. I miss working on this sort of thing, I hope to get back into it:) -
This is another attempt at this remix, and since my last attempt, I have: Procured some synths as they have gone on sale. Hopefully the new sounds are more pleasing. I also automated various parameters on them. In addition, I applied more layering of synths. I had two choirs at the beginning with different attack values, I removed the one with the slower attack. I also altered the "voice" part at 1:49 I have applied compression on a per track basis, as opposed to on the master. The master bus does have a limiter on it, but I didn't push it very hard (I think). I also removed the vocal/vocode part mentioned, and also added a couple "splashes" of the walkabout theme from the first Dragon Warrior game to increase the percentage of game music content. Those splashes are heard at 20-26, and 1:28-1:35. The part at 42-55 is based on the second walkabout theme in DW2, albeit very loosely. Thought I would point it out, and even then, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't considered an interpretation of the source material. Previous 8 bar melody based on DW2. I lowered the volume and did EQ changes on the hats so they don't take up as much room. Also altered velocity and panning on hats. I did some small frequency cuts and boosts to try to make things more clear, and to give instruments more room against each other. Also tried to remove resonances. I still kept the arrangement largely as is. One of the judges compared this to older remixes arrangement wise, and I take that as a compliment. I like the older ones:) I did change some of the instrumentation, however. I spent what I think is too much time on the bass drum and snare you hear here. I tried to give them a little more meat, and there's like, 6 effects on each of those tracks. I probably put in a lot of work for something that won't be as well received as I hope it will;) I have just submitted this version (I have updated the file on this post a couple times), on 12-7. Thanks ahead of time for any feedback anyone might have! Eric EpicFootStepsSubmission12-7.wav

Thank you very much for the feedback, it's very detailed and greatly appreciated. I shall incorporate your suggestions when I get the chance:) -
This is my first shot using orchestral stuff. It's a wip, so it's not polished. It needs volume adjustments at the very least, and also this first section doesn't have much interpretation, but I would like feedback on other aspects. Thanks!

This is a wip remix of Mara and Nara's theme from DW4. I only have a minute or so of it done, I'm looking for feedback on what I have so far. Thanks! Twisted Sisterz2.wav

1. work-in-progress Epic FootSteps, Caustic Version
Audiomancer posted a topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
So I'm sharing this again;) I've been fooling around with Cakewalk, FL Mobile, Caustic...and FL Studio Producer edition. I did all of the arranging for this tune in Caustic for Android. I tweaked the final sound (with my limited knowledge) with FL Studio 20. I have been fooling around with the different DAWS I just mentioned, and for some reason, so far, this is my favorite product. I don't get much time these days to fool with music. I like how this sounds, it reminds me of MOD files from back in the day. I wonder if this remix sounding this way would ever pass the panel...I believe chip tunes have made it through, I wonder if this style would ever pass, as an artistic choice. I would appreciate some constructive feedback! EpicFootStepsCaustic.wav -
So yeah, this is something that has gone through quite a few permutations, and this is my latest attempt:) This was completely done on my phone, mostly during breaks at work, as I have very little time to do anything musical at all at home...I have a toddler;) Most of this was done with Fruit Loops Mobile, with an excerpt from Caustic...the vocoder part. I did a quick and dirty master with the Caustic mastering app. I appreciate the feedback the judges have given through this process...and I have tried to apply their critiques. High pass filter set low frequency, so cool. I appreciate and wish for feedback, Thanks!:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CNSnJLjYjUOpeKlf0TUSajeFjPxAmrRd/view?usp=drivesdk

So this is something I just started. It's made using Caustic, an Android app on my phone. This is just the beginning of it. The sound of it is a little inspired by Raiden's Mortal Kombat theme, so I made a cheeky name up for the tune. Thanks for the listen! It allows 14. I handed the different parts, minus the bass, around the different "machines" placed in the app. I wanted to get a little bit of a feel for each one...and each of them are stripped down versions of full synths, such as a saw, FM, subtractive, etc. It's called Caustic, and it is free to try, minus export and saving on Android. There is also a version you can download for windows which is completely functional. It's a fun thing to doodle with, and I think it will help me learn on a full DAW as well:)

This is something I put together during breaks at work. I have a toddler, so time for doing anything musical is pretty much nonexistent. It was made using an app called Caustic on my cell phone. It's a redo of something I have posted on the forums before under a different name. When I first heard the app, I immediately thought of the sound of mod music on an Amiga computer, so I went with it. I used every machine the app has to try them all out, instead of just using the ones I think work/sound better. Tell me what you think:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/12maAZAic9CGEE7uxC204r5BkOk9omcGu/view?usp=drivesdk

I was wondering about that lead guitar. Its spicy guitar being run through TH3, with some other effects as well, though TH3 is the majority of the effect. Because I know nothing of guitars, I thought if I added extra effects, it would sound intentional, if that makes sense. Believe it or not, because of not getting to be out and about lately, I got myself a cheap guitar, and have been tinkering with that;)

Sony MDR 7506. The thing is, is I have always had this issue with any headphones, even for just casual listening my entire adult life. I was trying to do "mixing" with earbuds, because you don't have to worry about having a pin head with earbuds;) For the same reason, I like listening to tunes through earbuds. So I've been taking an elastic strap and putting it around my head and headphones, therefor pressing the earpieces against my head harder. The sound difference is significant, even to my untrained ear. No, this is not an April Fools day joke...LOL! Also, I have read that people who have started listening to music through non bass enhancing headphones complain of a "tinny" sound....so perhaps I'm hearing the sound correctly if I don't have the earpieces pressed against my head with a strap? Any headphones I have ever worn feel wobbly and unsecured against my head....so I don't even know if that is a normal sensation or not. I thank you for your response, and any further responses ahead of time:)
