  1. I had installed Kontakt 5 and the free instrument library today but I couldn't do anything with it - and there seemed to be no possibility to put the instruments via vst in my DAW. So I deleted Kontakt 5 and this stuff later on. But I have uploaded another one of this critical part - but this time with an acoustic guitar of my DAW as a basis. It fucks up that one single high not in the beginning - but the rest of the part sounds not really bad. https://soundcloud.com/master-mi/tyrant-breaker-acoustic-guitar-testwav Have an ear at it - tomorrow maybe. :DD
  2. Yeah, but the problem is, that I don't own Kontakt 5 Player or Native Instruments. (or is Kontakt 5 completely free without being just shareware and already contains some nice electric guitars?) For the short guitar part... could be that you can't listen to it 'cause I've "just" uploaded the extracted electric guitar part. Maybe in some hours it's possible. Can you listen to the other versions at my Soundcloud profile - both, WAVs and MP3s? https://soundcloud.com/master-mi
  3. Yeah, so I guess I will save some Buckazoids for Shreddage 2 if I don't get any good results with my electric guitars and Vandals - but I'll try a lil bit before I give up with those. Do you know ift Shreddage can be used as stand alone program if it doesn't work with my DAW? Besides I've extracted the layer of the electric guitars in the end - it begins with a single high tone series and gets an additional bass line with a similar electric guitar setting after the first seconds leading into a long main part with a high tone series and a bass tone series of the same electric guitar, ending with an additional electric guitar the pops in with a slightly higher volume (which I will fix later, maybe). https://soundcloud.com/master-mi/lufia-2-tyrant-breaker-e-guitar-testwav (will delete this after a few days/weeks) The beginning sounds pretty scratchy and awful high - but the following main part isn't too bad I think and has at least some glide effects cause of the minimal delay and hall reverb settings I guess. How would you change this to make this sound better? (I've also tried some acoustic & lead guitars instead of the electric guitar as a basis - but these totally peg up at the highest note in the beginning - unfortunately.)
  4. Have some self-made presets for my guitar amplifier but I still can't get right into these sounds - maybe I have to try some other settings in there - or maybe I have to buy some guitar VSTs with higher quality like Ministry Of Rock. For the guitar playing styles... What do you think? Do these obvious pros do those guitar effects just within the choice of notes in the midi editor or do they do it rather with the special functions like pitch bending etc.?
  5. Guile Theme goes with everything. So for me I totally like this short one. I think a calm orchestral version also fits Guile as well as a pretty heavy beat. I've thought about making a theme like Guiles with a smooth flute like in this Remix of Star Tropics - I guess it would totally make this theme. =))
  6. @ Neblix: I use Magix Music Maker - it's the lil bit lower priced version of Sequoia/Samplitude (which is pretty tough with about 2500 bucks (Euro)). It guess it's not so famous at the global market (maybe) but I decided to take this one which has much more solid basis of functions and a lot more instruments and synthesizers compared to the standard version of Fruity Loops oder Cubase Elements which are nearly the same price section. Just bought some of the extra instruments here (which are actually pretty good stuff) - but at the third of the download price by buying some very cheap previous versions of the Music Maker where these instruments have been already included. http://www.magix.com/de/hidden-extras/zusatzinstrumente/
  7. You mean the FX/Equalizer panel up there in the mixer? (audio next to it is just the recording function for the live input of real instruments and voices) http://magazine.magix.com/de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2013/04/open-vst-via-mixer.jpg No I haven't done this yet in my newest uploads - but i've tried it once and it makes the master volume about 30 dB louder without FX/EQ settings - but the same goes for the exported version.
  8. So, Pitch Bending is actually the Midi Editor Controller Function for the bendings and vibratos you do with guitars? =)) Thanks for the LFO hint - have some other synthesizers that work with that stuff, too.
  9. Do you how I can do this in Midi-Editors or DAWs in general? I'm not quite sure if this is the pitch bend function of the controller in the midi editor or sumthin' else.
  10. Maybe I should have mentioned that the volume that I hear in my DAW project is far louder than the maximal volume I can hear in the Windows Media Player and after the upload on Youtube/Soundcloud after the exported version. So the maximal volume level sinks a lot after exporting. So I have to make the Master Volume a bit louder (about 30 dB) than my ears like - to achieve the same loudness in the exported version of my composition.
  11. Nice EQ guide - thx. I guess with the RMS thing and the crest factor I would handle it more practical to get the right loudness of the song. Since I have another stereo headphone without an extra volume control (so a fixed volume of the hardware)- and after I have finished my first remix at the right volume level - I will remember the exactly level of the master volume where it sounds just right and full in things like loudness - and add a fixed size of dB in the master volume afterwards to get the right volume for the export version. =)) Monkey tactics I guess - sometimes old but gold.
  12. Not bad - kinda like the Corneria Theme. =)) Maybe try to underline the power chords with a more powerful extra bass line and it will be quite perfect.
  13. I' ve just checked out the EQ thing. It lowers the at most possible master volume (right below clipping) a lot - just by ear I would says it makes a difference up to 30 % of loudness (if you put an EQ over every instrument or not). That's the gain I would need to make it sound like the other songs. @timaeus222: So you would everything try to do to avoid equalizers (or just the EQ presets?) in general and make the whole sound just by the instruments and synthesizers?
  14. I 've just found a nice video in which Ron Gilbert, the producer of the game called Maniac Mansion, is talking about the background and the sources of the ideas that were put right into the game. It's really interesting - especially if you're a fan of those oldschool games that were pretty famous in those days (and still nowadays ).
  15. Man, this could be the reason! I remember that I have configured every instrument layer in the mixer with an EQ preset (Hi-Fi-Sound with raised volume of basses/low frequencies and high frequencies). I will try to remove these settings and put this EQ preset maybe better over the whole track afterwards.
  16. I have a problem with one of my remix projects. I've reached the maximum of my volume level in my DAW mixer - the volume level is just below 0 (above this level begins the yellow section - not sure what this is for, it's just 3 further dB - above this is the red section that shows clipping in the mastering suite of my DAW). So I left the master volume in the whole track below 0/below yellow. But after exporting und uploading the remix on soundcloud and youtube I sensed that the volume was not loud enough after comparing it to other remixes and songs at those sites. I'm not sure if this problem has to do with the instruments I've chosen in the remix project or with the basis of the whole DAW. Between the instruments of the highest volume level and the instruments of lowest volume level is a range of about 10 dB - plus the 3 dB in the yellow section would make 13 dB. But the volume configuration of the single instruments are quite perfect for the track - I really don't want to change these. Do you know if there's a possibility right within a DAW (or an a special program for post production/volume control) program to make the songs louder without clipping or a loss of sound quality?
  17. I've uploaded a new version of my remix at soundcloud - this time as a high quality wav. file and without boosting the volume after exporting the file. https://soundcloud.com/master-mi/tyrant-breakerwav In addition I've changed a few instrument settings. Pretty nice to see that it sounds much more like in the exported file - no strange noises and even the cymbals sound totally clear now instead of the washed out sounding cymbals in the previous version (I'm not quite sure if it has something to do with the fact that I didn't rise the volume after exporting this time or rather with the delay effects of the percussions which I have put off this time - but I guess it's the first one that might be right). My further plans with this remix: - want try out some further instruments at the guitar part and try to get some variations, bendings and vibrato right within the notes in the midi editor to make this sound more catchy and rockstyle - maybe I will double the remix and bring in some new instruments and variations in the second part - would totally fit with my ideas of the video I want to create for this remix - (hope the length of 10 minutes would not be a problem 'cause I've read somewhere in the remixing & submitting section that remixes shouldn't be much longer than 7 minutes) If you have some ideas for improving my remix - just tell me.
  18. Nice one - go on with it. Besides - if the brass gets too intense in a track (for example right in the first seconds) you can also use the brass as the bass.
  19. So in other words I have to buy a VST with such functions right in the vst editor or - for the best effects - I have to learn to play a real electric guitar and record it at my DAW.
  20. Yep, the guitar sound at 3:29 is indeed totally stiff. Want to change this soon after I have learned how to perform a bending or vibrato of notes in the midi editor since I don't have those options in my VST editors. Do you know how the function in Midi Editors is called with which you can lift/bend (I guess it's not the pitch bending function) notes or use a vibrato on single notes? I've just seen this in a guitar learning video - but I don't know how to do these variations in a DAW. I would really post a pic of my midi editor functions from my Desktop, but I can only see a function in this text program to insert images from online sources.
  21. It's not clipping - at least not as my mixer in my DAW is showing me - the loudest layer is still 10 dB below 0 at the highest volume within the whole track. So I didn't need even a limiter. I'm not sure where you hear clipping sounds in the track - maybe it' because I exported the track with my normal volume settings in mp3, reloaded it in my DAW again, turned up the volume (but again still below 0 in the mixer and without the limiter), exported it again and uploaded the on Youtube and soundcloud. If this is not the problem it could be the drum layer maybe - it's nearly at the same volume level as the 2 different power chords and the percussions which play from the beginning till the end of the track. Hm, not sure how high quality guitar vsts sound like - but I think those that I have are not bad ones (if you mean those around 3:20). I use these electric guitars as a basis: And in addition I use Vandal SE Virtual Guitar Amplifier: I actually really like these ones - but maybe I have to change the settings a lil bit more to let it sound more realistic. Thanks for the feedback, dude. =))
  22. You 're absolutely right guys. The file size is not depending on the signals and the number of instrument layers that work together at the same time. It's depending on the length of the track - even if you make the track longer without using further effects and instruments for the additional time of the track. Just have checked this out at my DAW. Physics, dude - don't let me feel like a being that is torn between electromagnetic waves and interferences.
  23. Would you recommend the limiter in this case? I never wanted to use this tool cause I think that will change the sound quality a lil bit. So I controlled the whole song with the mixer that there were no layers above volume 0 (below yellow and red level). Maybe the mp3 player problem has arisen cause I put the track (right after exporting) in the DAW again and turn up the volume cause it was far too silent (but still below the yellow and red markers). But the strange noises on Youtube couldn't be solved by this - happens with the just once exported version, too.
  24. Thanks, man - nice explanation. Though it's hard to believe for me, that the filesize along the same output quality options is only depending on the length of the track and not on the density of the signals (amount of layers and denity of midi/sound events) - if I've got it right. But I'll check this after I've fixed my DAW.
  25. I don't know what might be the reason of this problem. I have exported a composition in my DAW into an audio file (mp3 - highest qualty 320 kbit/s and as a wma). After exporting this one it was was absolutely clean - clear sound. But after putting the file on my MP3 player the file had some crackling noises (always at the same parts). And after uploading it on youtube it had also some weak but strang noises (sounded like wind blowing over sand or something like that) along the rhythm of the percussion layer I guess - weak but really annoying noise. On soundcloud there were also some minimal noises along the cymbals - sounded a lil bit washed out and not so clean like in the exported file. To understand what I'm talking of, here's the uploaded version. Youtube >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2n3o2_6hgg Soundcloud >>> https://soundcloud.com/master-mi/lufia-2-tyrant-breaker-master-mi-remix-working-titlemp3 Can't show you the sound on my MP3-Player - but there's a strong crackling right in the beginning. In the mixer all layers were below the red (even below the yellow) volume level mark. Any ideas what's wrong there?
