(Free) High Quality VST Instruments
Master Mi replied to Master Mi's topic in Music Composition & Production
Heya, thanks for the good informations and the tips for the free stuff. I guess, you're right - the free stuff often does not have the quality and setting options I was looking for - so I will look for the not-free but very good updates and add-ons for my DAW in future. ... And the cool thing about this is that fortune seems to love me. No shit, dudes - got a free update for a newer version of my DAW - yep for FREE! I guess the reason was that I told the software company about some kind of bugs within the program they could not fix at this time. So the cool guy was so nice to give me a free upgrade to compensate me for this as it seemed. If I had bought this in the shop I would have paid about 100 bucks for this amazing stuff. This new version is exactly this what I was looking for - has some absolutely heavy power guitars, pretty rockstyle synthesizers (one is definately a great choice for my next remix I'm momentary working at) and loads of spine-shakin drums. *.* I'm such a lucky boy. :DD -

No problem - at least I love my remix like crazy. I always wanted to make a remix of the Battle #3 theme in "Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals" inspired by the G.M.F. or S.S.H. version of this track 'cause they got pretty much the style I like. So for me, it was just the right work I did and I'm totally satisfied with the result. Especially if I keep in mind that this one was my very first remix I've ever made and my DAW experience is about 2 or 3 months now. So, really no problem if ya don't like my remix - there are also some tracks on OCRemix, which sound totally clean, professional and very complex but I don't really like much 'cause of the style or the music genre the remixers used for the track. Look forward to my next remixes - maybe there will be a remix even you may like. -
Does somebody know some good VST plugins for simple/natural instruments (such as harp, triangle, flutes) for DAWs - as well as some kind of a phat rock guitar VSTI? Doesn't matter if it isn't free at all - but a good collection that works with several DAWs would be totally nice.

If an admin reads this, he/she can delete this whole posting - I've just made a newer version of this in a new posting. Haven't seen the Edit function - sorry. -

Thx - just recognized the edit function (couldn't see this cause I'm always logged off after a few minutes and this function isn't available then). I'll report the older posting and ask the moderators to delete it. -

Is there a possibility to delete the older posting and keep this one? -

Just made some changes in my remix. - reduced the master volume a lil bit - turned up the bass to make the track more powerful (sounded too weak and flat before) - removed some strange, nasty noises/distortion effects (was scratching a bit too much at some points in the track) Original SNES Track >>> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Remix >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fqE3UP2Ijc >>> https://soundcloud.com/master-mi/sinistral-salvation-master --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -

Uploaded a slightly better version with a lil bit more bass, less noises and a lower volume. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fqE3UP2Ijc https://soundcloud.com/master-mi/sinistral-salvation-master -
It's not a demo or shareware version - it's definitely a full version I've bought in a shop - really. As far as I know there's no possibility to play the track during the export process - just immediately afterwards it's been playing automatically. To record the track right in the project would be a good idea - unfortunately another layer (with a string ensemble) gives strange noises there right within the project version which are not in the after-export-audio-version. xD Could fix at least this problem with changing the audio drivers. Which program with a good sound quality you would recommend to record the project version - something like Fraps? But maybe I should also ask the Maker of MMM to fix this bug in one of their next updates...

I think one of the the most important things to do something well or better step by step is the great will and the passion to do it. If you have this - can also call it your "inner fire" - you will find your (maybe totally different) way(s) to succeed.

It's a really annoying problem - hope somebody can help me. I'm working with Magix Music Maker (2013 Pemium Version) and I'm almost done with a remix of Totally Rad for the NES. The problem is that there is a terrible noise (some kind of a fast repeating scratching or crackling sound) when the music gets quieter in the end and only one synthesizer instrument is playing. It's an instrument called "Mango" (sounds like deeper version of a flute) from Revolta 2. It's on normal volume and except for the reverb and delay I haven't really changed the settings of this synthesizer. The strange thing is that this annoying noise comes only after the export this track into an audio file. Within my DAW music project this noise isn't there. The problem seems to be in relation with exactly this synthesizer - because the other ones seem to work so far. I really want to keep this Mango synthesizer in this track because I think there's no other one which matchs up with this one. Would be totally awesome if somebody could give me a hint that solves the problem.

Yep, that's right. Except for the lil intro it's more a remastered version than a brand new remix. But it doesn't mean it has to sound bad 'cause of this (you will see this at my next one, which will sound much cleaner/clearer). I'm not sure but as I remember I used a lil bit of distortion to make this final battle theme a lil bit more rough (when I created this one I wasn't a member of OCReMix and haven't read the whole submission rules yet - so I didn't really know this). I'll definitely do the remixes my own way - no matter what the guys from OCReMix will think of it. But I also want to improve my remixing skills step by step to remix some tracks with a lot more complexity and creativity. You're right - skill comes with practice. Thanks for ya honest feedback. -

Nice one - don't forget to submit this track to the judges of OCRemix - this community needs some beats like this for sure. ;D And yeah - I'll definitely watch your next projects. (PS: The Wily Stage from MM 2 has also loads of potential). Can you play those original tracks just by ear after 9 years or do you still need sheets of music for this? I'm just an ongoing remixer of videogame music who just finished his first remix (mostly a radically remastered track which has also a rad rockin' beat) - but to redo these original tracks just by ear would be a great gift 'cause music sheets of some good ol' NES tunes are absolutely rare or not available. Good luck, dude. -
I'm working on a remix of this track (Act 1 - Part 1). I always wondered why there are hardly some good remixes of this game music out there because this game has a lot of tunes with gnarly potential. For an NES game those sounds were high above the bar 'cause of their complexity, catchy melodies and pretty badass drumlines. I'll definitely keep this in my remix or show this off a good deal more. Stay tuned - in a few months I guess...

This remix has a lot of energy - pretty badass rockstyle. Good guitar player with a funny nerd-style helmet. How much time you've spent on playing guitar to play like a lil pro? -
Facebook and Music Posting - Crackdown on Spam?
Master Mi replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
I noticed this very well. About 2 years before the postings seemed to have been stored a little bit for all those Facebook friends who didn't get a chance to see it right in the time you were posting it. So they got to see it later on and they also "liked" postings more than today. On the one hand it will be of course a monetarization attempt of facebook. On the other hand many people in these days post pretty important stuff about the corruption and the big crimes of their own governments, politicians, bad banks and really dangerous profit-over-life companies. Leaders of the world with bad intentions fear such an awareness of the people and facebook just like the internet are media that can spread those informations very fast. So I guess they made some kind of filter for informations where much important stuff goes through unseen. The weekend before thousands of people from the tea party movement united via facebook to organize a shutdown of the government in Washington (guess it were about 500000 people). It was such a great movement, that somebody had shut down their facebook page. They made a new page though - but with that you can see another possible purpose of this facebook topic. Informations can cause revolutions (which are necessary from time to time) which "mighty" people/tyrants may fear. If you post something you want others to see (or to listen to), leave it for a while (a month or so) without posting anything new in this time. Good friends, interested people and subscribers will take a look at your facebook page from time to time. Patience is the mother of reaction (or sumthin' like that). ) -
So, kay - used the edit function - and here's the final version of my remix.
