  1. Cool, it's yiddish. The piece itself is flawless and cool, but not my favorite type of music. Still, someone had to bring in da accordian. Good job.
  2. I enjoyed it. It was a little ditty that got its point across. I do like the beginning because it utilizes that lonely Metroid feeling. Then it skips into something where Samus would roll up in a ball and drop some bombs all crazy-like. So it's an interesting listen. My gripe would be the drum part at 1:23. It seems to skip a little, and not in a typical break fashion, but maybe that's just me. And the ending was a little bit abrupt and should've either ended on one of those distorted bass hits, or with a more gradual fade out. But all in all a decent piece.
  3. A lot of wip's I hear for this always sound so much like the midi or just a re-arrangement with no emotion. But this one is the total opposite and kick-ass. I like the way it starts, and I was almost expecting it to go into a symphonic version... but then, wait... I heard drums that sounded like the colloseum music in Symphony of the Night. I didn't think it was gonna go in that direction, but it was cool anyways even if unintentional. What's good about this is that it feels very full, whereas a lot of mixes sound somewhat empty. And the variation is really good. Definite keeper, Digimatic. Keep it up.
  4. Wow, I had always pictured this song with lyrics. Leave it to Starla to make that dream come true. Very instrumental and could easily be a tear-jerker if one was in the right mood. The whole thing is just awesome. And people keep saying things about her voice... well, I thought it was pretty good, although maybe it could use some chorus? I don't know, I don't have any gripes, which is unusual.
  5. I thought this was very interesting, and I like the way it started out, but when it busted into that part at 1:25 or so, it didn't have the same effect on me. It was almost like it shifted into something much more traditional, which isn't a bad thing. At 1:40, it seemed to have a weird transition... I don't know if this was a problem with the mp3 or player I used, but it almost sounded like a loop was pasted after another loop. And the ending, while kind of different, just didn't strike me the right way. Perhaps if it slowed in tempo or diminished naturally rather than fading as it did, I might've liked it better. Overall, a decent piece, despite some of my opinionated suggestions.
  6. I am cursed by Monkey Island, because that's what all reggae-ish music sounds like to me now. This was cool, and I liked the little electronic beeps at 1:28 the best I think. I noticed time really flies when I listen to this mix, so it must mean I'm having fun.
  7. I like its different quality. It kinda reminded me of his Blaster Master remix in a way. I like that kinda stuff sometimes though. My only real gripe would be as I noted in the WIP forum (even though at that moment it was already submitted and not even a WIP anymore) that fade out was just kind of abrupt and could've probably either been extended more, or just ended on a note instead of any fade at all. Ah well.
  8. This song is definitely great. I don't think I need to say much more than Russell knows what he's doing when it comes to these orchestral pieces. Now if only he'd go baroque
  9. Well, I heard this one kinda earlier on, but I still like it, as much as I thought the game itself was kinda boring. You'd think alcohol would make you more prone to like the game too. Anyways, I love this scary type music. My fav part is around 2:30 where it just gets really devious. My only gripe would be that lead synth being slightly detuned.
  10. Umm... were you talking to me? I said after coming through the quick maze (the place with all the lasers, which were orange btw) you come upon some of those mech guys. I know my Mega Man 2 well.
  11. Can't you just imagine Mega Man coming in and kicking ass around 2:55? After running through the quick maze he's ready to take on some of those nasty guys in the mechs. Good stuff. I foresee this being my driving music.
  12. Very cool. Monkey Island 2 was great, and this mix captures the feel of it pretty well. All the styles are cool, and I find that this medley works well, as opposed to most which don't. Definitely a keeper. One thing, this game wasn't really called Secret of Monkey Island 2... I think the "Secret of" wasn't in there, cause it was exclusive to part 1.
  13. The synth lead, and just all that accompanied it had a strong feeling behind it. I like it a lot, twas well done. Even the ending.
  14. This has got to be one of my favorite mixes on the site. The temple music is just awesome, and blind expanded upon its greatness. Especially the part with the fast appregios. You cannot say enough good things about this mix.
  15. Chromatism makes me violent. Honestly. There are a lot of elements I like in this mix, but I felt it needed more prominent bass at parts.
  16. I love King's Quest V, and I love this mix. I think if the game was remade today, this would be the way the town music was made. It wasn't the first piece I expected to be mixed from KQV, but what you did here was fitting.
  17. Yes, a nice arrangement. I like this type of mix because it's nice to have some pieces from a game series that is easily interpreted as electronica, but have them be something like this. Good stuff.
  18. I really liked this interpretation of the theme. It's nice to hear an orchestral arrangement that is done properly and that utilizes the right instruments. Good job, Russell. Oh, and thanks for showing me to Dragon Quest V (the English ROM) way back.
  19. True, it does have emotion. And I know I said elsewhere something along the lines of solo piano needing perhaps some accompaniment (not often do you hear any solo piano on radio stations of that nature). But nonetheless it is still good. He could've added a couple train sounds though and that would've made it great, imo.
  20. Well, I wasn't talking about the last major chord (at 3:12) ...I was basically talking about the last note which sounds like a square-wave that was off-key and didn't belong. (at 3:21) But if that was your intention, then so be it. That's a minor problem anyways. The rest of it was good.
  21. I'm not sure I'm a big fan of this. Not very much was arranged here. A couple instruments slightly shuffled and a reverbed beat added. I almost prefer the original better because I felt energy from it. Maybe I'm just biased because there have been a couple others of this same tune, most notably my favorite "Temple Trance" by bLind.
  22. I haven't played CotM, but I really want to. I know, I'm a heathen. Anyways, I like this mix and some of the retro style within it. It jumps around, but I like that. What about that ending note though, was it supposed to be like that?
  23. It was pretty good, although I've never been a fan of screaming from anime or whatever. I think it did pull off the mania like mentioned... that stuff is great.
  24. I liked the intro and into the synths. I would've never thought of this interpretation for the castle music. My gripe is the bass, it just doesn't fit with the rest of it, and with weird delayed notes that just didn't sound right. And perhaps the main part could've not been repeated so much, with more of the second part. But otherwise it's a decent tune.
  25. I like this because I just really like the drums and those "oom" sounds. The synths seem entirely appropriate to me as sometimes it's hard to picture some of the manic music of Mega Man (say that 10 times fast) any other way. Other than of course the beginning, which was also nice.
