  1. All of the stuff there costs money and/or no longer exists. Anybody have a personal tried and true site that they use? ...I just went through most of the relevant links, and ALL of them work. And all of them were free. And all of them were personal, tried and true sites... that's what the thread is compiled from.
  2. That would be a wind chime... you don't know what a wind chime is? Well, that should give you some help in terms of what you're looking for. Rudra P, no idea. Sorry )= Mr. Protone, can't help you either. *MP*Evil_Cartman, check Liquid's site for his Jungle pack. There's some pretty good choppy Jungle stuff in there. Ok, now to skulkrusha. Thanks for your reply! I thought it would be illegal, but I just can't really imagine how they could prove it actually was from what they said it was if you somehow eliminated all trace.
  3. Er... so, any way to create a macro in FL? It comes with like 4, but I'd like to make my own (for a number of things, such as auto-organizing the selected samples into a layer). It would also be nice to be able to shift all the patterns down one, and leave an empty one at a certain point (for organization purposes). Another question: is there any way to use shuffle in the piano roll? I thought this question had been answered, but I searched, and apparently it hasn't... I know about the Quantizer thing, but it's sort of a pain to use, especially compared to the simplicity of the step sequencer's shuffle. I'm thinking there's probably no way... which makes this question sort of an "I wish there were" kind of thing... .
  4. The mixer is probably the most important single tool in FL... well, maybe next to the Piano Roll. It is essential to mastering and fine tuning, but can have broad implications. Technically, you could do the same things without it with some really complicated synths that load synths as generators and... well, that's complicated and not worth it and probably impossible. Anyway, here's how it works: When you assign a generator to a Mixer, channel, the audio that that generator makes is threaded into that channel. Thus, any effects you put on that channel of the Mixer will affect all the audio that is channeled through it.
  5. Woah... YOU CAN DO THAT? HOW HOW HOW HOW?! XD Anyway, I have a simple question of my own. How can you revert from piano roll to step sequencer?
  6. Whipsmack, if I could find what you're talking about, I would be deliriously happy. Unfortunately, there are no really excellent fiddle/violin sounds that I know of. For a snare, check out Hammersound under percussion. They have some good army-type ones. My request: Beatles style male "Ahhhh" choir, or humming choir. ! I'm not sure if this can be found, but maybe... Which brings me to a question. Is it ok to sample from songs? Not whole songs or motifs or anything, but just individual notes (or more likely chords, for some instruments). I'm talking about ripping the Choir from some Renaissance-style choir music, ripping the strings from classical, ripping the "Ahhhh" choir from some song by the Beatles... even ripping whole drum loops from songs and cutting them up. Would you get into trouble for this (I don't really mean legal... I doubt that would happen)? What if it were unrecognizable? What if you *made* it unrecognizable? What if you layered it?
  7. In case it's not obvious, here's how it works: The Effects list is separate from the Instruments list. They both have "More..." which shows you the list of plug-ins, but whichever you check off to be shown will only be shown in Effects if you accessed it from Effects, and only be shown in Instruments if you accessed it from Instruments.
  8. Winamp 2! Winamp 2! Anyway, Windows Media Player can do it, I think. Also, there are plenty of small freeware programs for doing stuff like this.
  9. You were were wrong! It's called Ambience, and can be found here Hey look! There's a multi-band compressor on that page as well.
  10. Hmm... This is a long shot, but you could try tuning up high an orchestral hit, and then using a filter. Like I said, a long shot. Yeah, , that's actually what I was referring to . I just want stuff *like* that, though; I don't want to rip it, because people will recognize it.
  11. Compressor! I have no idea how one works, but I like the "Drums" preset... although I am suspicious that all it really does is make it louder, but I like it anyway. EQ! Turn down the mid-lows, turn up the mid-highs, and you probably don't even need the lows at all unless it's a low clap. Maybe you could automate a filter to make the clap go "bwow" or "sheeow" or "sheee" or "bwee". Detune works well, also! Every channel on the mixer has an enwidener knob built in. Just some ideas.
  12. Ok, here's what I'm needing: Random vocal hits. Jazzy, male or female, just really smooth type phrases. I don't really care what it says... if there's enough I'm bound to find one that fits. But the jazziness is the most important part; I don't want rap "YeAHA!"'s and "WOOOOOhhh"'s and "COME ON!!!!!"'s, I want jazzy, cheesy, "One two, ready let's go." or "Time to split.", "Okay, three, two, one, let's jam.", "I think it's time to blow this thing." etc. And that's as specific as I can get, really thanks if you have any tips.
  13. What exactly are SoundFonts for? Uh... hm. They are for making music. They can be used just like any other generator there on your patterns sequencer; they will respond to the midi signals you program, and play their predetermined samples on playback or rendering. This is what SoundFonts are for. About the SoundFonts not playing problem: are you sure you tried ALL the notes? Most drumkits will start down at C3, which is the standard GM location for the first note of a Drumkit (being the kick). Actually, B2 normally has some kind of extra kick that sounds exactly the same... but whatever.
  14. Yeah... it's completely ignorant to say that WAV samples are better than SoundFonts. SoundFonts are basically stand-alone samplers; and you can't play a wave file without some kind of sampler. About the kILLER series. I know it's your opinion and all, Nemba, but personally, I find that they really suck compared to most other worthwhile synths (yes, they're worthwhile, as in they don't just sound like crap and crash all the time, but I find that they're almost totally useless and have lackluster sound). I'd really like to hear a demo with these used well to prove to me that they are actually useful.
  15. Well, SoundFonts don't necessarily respond to those events. In fact, I'm not even sure if they support them.
  16. HOLY CRAP that new String Quartet soundfont from Florestan is awesome. At least the Violin and Viola the other two are high quality but nothing special or hard to find compared to the top two, which are of amazingly high quality and expressiveness.
  17. Zircon, you've probably heard of Florestan; they have an excellent Aaaaaaaaah choir soundfont (I think it's just Aaah or Aah). The to half is female, lower half is male; by itself it doesn't sound so great, but it's the kind of sample that can be EQed to perfection because it is neither too bright nor too dark. I don't have a link to Florestan, but it's one of those sites that isn't too hard to find.
  18. I hadn't thought of that I actually have SH Graphical EQ, but I never use any EQ, Reverb, Filter or Delay but Fruity since those are the most efficient . I'll see if it has anything on that.
  19. Anybody got any good ideas for boosting those frequencies which are higher than those accessible on the EQ (Parametric/7-band)?
  20. I found a really cool Celesta SoundFont! http://www.hammersound.net/cgi-bin/soundlink_download2.pl/Download%20UK;Moonman_Celesta.sfArk;359
  21. Also, I don't know if this feature is available in 3, but there's a really cool Macro for this. What you do is SAVE FIRST, then go the Tools->Macros->Do something having to do with MIDI I forget, but it should be obvious. Immediately save under a different name, just in case (THIS MACRO WILL ERASE ALL YOUR INSTRUMENTS, and replace them with MIDI Outs). You can then save as MIDI (although you may want to change the MIDI patches first), I don't know if it will actually play if you press play but that probably has to do with configuration.
