  1. Hey, I made a new version of the showreel: What do you think about it?
  2. Hey, IN OVERALL I love this. In my opinion it gives a fresh breath to the original, but keeping this vibe of SNES sound. Also, I think it's more easy to dance to. ARRANGEMENT / INTERPRETATION - The drums in 0:57 are sick PRODUCTION - Very correct YMO. - I have curiosity, can you name some of the sounds you use? which library or synth are they from? because I like a lot the sounds you have picked STRUCTURE - It's coherent, and sticks to the original. I don't have a problem with that Keep up the amazing work!
  3. Hello Very cool cover! I love the part that enters at 2:02, nice change. But I have a issue with something on the mix. Is the low frequencies of the kick (and maybe some bass), in my opinion there's a bit too much. I don't know if in this style it's a common thing to leave like this, but in my opinion this track needs less low frequencies. In 0:48 I think there's an harmony issue, check it out, maybe it's just intentional, but one note sounds a little bit like crashing with the rest of the harmony. About the whip sound effect sound design on 2:09. I think it's a nice idea for a videoclip, but I was listening to your song while not looking at the video and it sound a little weird, I didn't detect at first it was a whip sound effect (when I saw the video I did understand), I though while I was listening that something fell off. Take that in consideration if you are submitting the cover on ocremix! Have a nice day, Albert.
  4. So, I posted a week ago my work in progress, and now is finished. This is my first arrangament for OCRemix: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tal1htohxv14p0p/Into The Calm Of It.mp3?dl=0 I have choosed a song from Secret Of Mana, and my idea was to rearrange the song into something more calmer, more contemplative. Maybe it will differ from the original but my idea wasn't to cover exactly the original song, but making something new from the original ideas of the composer (without adding new melodies or harmony). Here is the original song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKoFzNfQdA
  5. Hey, First of all, nice outfit! hahaha IN OVERALL I think that the rearrangament is nice,. It changes the original song to a more of a village, countryside vibe. When I listen to the original I see a more water-theme vibe, don't know why. ARRANGEMENT / INTERPRETATION - I think there's a balance between respecting the original song and some new ideas you add. There's a balance in being conservative and liberal. That's cool. - I like a lot the shout at 0:44 - When you are submitting a song to ocremix they say this: ''We strongly recommend submissions between 2 and 7 minutes in length.'' Your arrangament is 1:24, so be aware of it. PRODUCION - While I think the majority of the instruments sound quite well recorded I think that your production values can get better. It's like the overall audio production on this track lacks character and uniqueness (You will get it the more you practice, listen and analyze more music. Have patience ). When I listen to the original there's something unique in it regarding the audio production, it's like an atmosphere that the composer/producer puts you in (and during all the OST) - The harmonium (I'm not sure if that's the correct name for the instrument, it enters at 0:10) and the guitar at 0:44 sound too roomy. If you fix that and also you can play a bagpipe virtual instrument (or other similar virtual instrument) along the harmonium it will get better YMO. The thing here is to make more consistent the sound of the main melody, if you work the sound by layers it will get better. PERFORMANCE - Nice! - I think that the harmonium lacks dynamics. STRUCTURE - It's coherent, I don't have a problem with that Keep up the good work!
  6. Thank you very much for the feedback, I will take in consideration this things that you told me!
  7. Hello there, This is my first arrangament for OCRemix: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x0npzk4bc7443g8/Into The Calm Of It.wav?dl=0 Right now is not finished (it ends abruptly at 1:33). I will add more parts, the mix and mastering still need work, and I will make more minor changes to the the arrangament to make it more interesting I have choosed a song from Secret Of Mana, and my idea was to rearrange the song into something more calmer, more contemplative. Maybe it will differ from the original but my idea wasn't to cover exactly the original song, but making something new from the original ideas of the composer (without adding new melodies or harmony). Here is the original song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKoFzNfQdA I would like to receive any type of feedback. Arrangament/interpretation, production, performance, strucutre, etc... Note that this is my first arrangament, I've always composed original music, so... any tip is welcome.
  8. Many thanks for the feedback! I will take your opinion in consideration I'm planning to do another showreel (a longer one, this was provisional for a college presentation) where I will be adding more variety on music styles. Do you think that if in the new one I alternate videos with esthatic images it will lost interest? I'll have to do this because the music of different styles doesn't go with a video footage, but goes with images .
  9. Hello, I recently posted on Vimeo my showreel: It summarizes in one minute what I do as a freelance composer for games and audiovisual media What do you think about it?
