Hype hype hype. I can't wait for the voting to be done so I can start verbalizing my obsessing over all these songs. Also, I find it coincidentally great that both Rundas and Gandrayda got mixes. Makes me wish I did Ghor's, so we could cover all the hunters.

I am unsure what to say other than thank you, for the words of confidence and motivation. ♥
If nothing else, at least I'm in good company. But I hear ya'll, and will take your words to heart. ^^ And try to keep them all in mind for future reference when I'm low and the cards are down.
Yay, soon it'll be vote time. :0

I submitted a BONUS and it's not a cover, as promised. Yay me. Don't vote for it, or Dark Samus will Corrupt you into an Other M Authorized Edition. Nobody wants that!!

Souperion reacted to Bundeslang in PRC418 - The Most Snowy Time Of The Year (Sonic 2006)
The People's Remix Competition 418
PRCv17-16
Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!
Last round Wassup Thunder claimed the victory, leaving Bundeslang behind with the wooden spoon. Bundeslang decided to accept the result, taking his loss and congratulate the winner without going to the court to try to claim the win. Because christmas is getting closer, Wassup Thunder decided to put a source which suits the time of the year.
Source: Sonic 2006 (PC) - White Acropolis Snowy Peak
http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC418_S06-WhiteAcropolis-SnowyPeak.mid
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_(2006_video_game)
http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC418
The deadline is Wednesday December 16th 2020 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC418 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread.
You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.
Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.
The winner of this round may select the source for PRC420, the first round of next season. The winner of PRC417 also may pick a source for that round.
The winner of PRC416, Wassup Thunder, who picked this source, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage.
You can find the full rules list at this page as well.
GOOD LUCK!

No! Stick around, please.
I'm flattered, but I understand. It is intimidating to have your work standing with other mixers. Comparison is rarely kind. Last year, I worked with Wassup T to make something for the OCR Christmas album. We had fun, but there is/was some seriously impressive stuff there. But please, don't let the comparison stop you from mixing. Keep moving forward, make new songs, learn little by little. You'll keep getting better.

We are all looking forward to Rundas a la HoboKa. If it wasn't a bonus entry, I'd have to vote it 1st out of principle XD This is going to be a round to remember, methinks.

Got room for one more? I've got something from Mega Man ZX in the works.

I did something so interesting it ended up being a bonus. You'll see why once you figure it out.
Submitted!

Souperion got a reaction from Julien Mulard in Epic power symphonic metal medley from Final Fantasy Adventure / Sword of Mana
Julien! Good to hear your work here again. This thing takes the listener by storm, gives me a combination of vibes from Mega Man X and Tales of Symphonia (is that weird? That's kinda weird.) Stellar performance. You did good with those variating segments (organs, harpsichords, oh my!), it nicely breaks up the soundscape of the guitars and synths.
Perhaps it is an element of the genre, but I wonder if it may be beneficial to try changing the guitar's sound through the piece, as it is fairly consistent all the way through (the actual timbre, not performance. I like the performance.) The mid-high favoring lead is slammin, but it does hang around that mid-high for most of the piece. Maybe there's a segment that could do well with a lower tone (drop an octave, EQ the 'tar to favor more towards the mid for a part, something like that.) Of course, I'm about as much an authority on guitars as Aristotle was. Still an awesome piece, go get yourself a milkshake. Or smoothie or something.

Souperion got a reaction from HoboKa in Atmospheric Orchestral Piece
Aw, thanks! I was experimenting with reverb back in these days, hence the echoing glock (and half of the other instruments.) I was playing Radiant Historia at the time, and it's soundtrack goaded me to try something a little cosmic.

Souperion reacted to Julien Mulard in Epic power symphonic metal medley from Final Fantasy Adventure / Sword of Mana
Hello everyone!
I started working on this a few years back after finishing Sword of Mana, but I never finished it, because my computer could not handle it anymore. It was almost finished for 2 years. New PC, a bit of free time (a few days getting all my plugins to work again), and here I come!
Featured tracks, in order of apparition :
Seeking the Holy Sword GBA version / GameBoy version Investigation of recollection GBA version (exclusive) Crumbling World GBA Version (exclusive) Final Battle GBA version / GameBoy version I was going for a straightforward power metal track with a few orchestral / classical elements and a lot of guitar and keyboard solos, in a style inspired by band I listened to in the mid 2000 such as Stratovarius, Rhapsody of Fire, Sonata Arctica, etc...
I'm open to any sort of feedback. I have my doubts regarding drums writing and guitar articulation (mostly in the first solos and the intro riff), as well as mixing and mastering. Plus I listened to the old version regularly for years, and the recent changes I made, while necessary, are still alien to me, so a pair of fresh ears or two would be welcome! (you can also listen to it too if you have an odd number of ear(s))
Clocking at just above 7min, I know it's a fairly long track, but if you like old school symphonic power metal and/or Sword of Mana, you should have a good time! (no refund though)
Here is the track! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xYGQNcIBv3IJFUHAyTObQgBRuAZ_05X4/view?usp=sharing
I sure hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!
Thank you for listening, and have a great day!
Edit: Passing in Ready for Review, because the more I listen to it, the more I believe this is finished and ready to be submitted. Prove me wrong mods! ^^
Edit2: More than 1k views in 5 days? Wow

This reminds me of some stuff during the PS2 and GameCube era. Kind of has a Wild Arms meets Xenogears vibe. There's a lot of applications for this tune. You should slap it on Unity or something and make a few bucks off it. Whether you position yourself as premium content or low shelf content is up to you. Couldn't tell if the tune is loopable or not, but I think it won't be too hard to do if not. As for the production quality, I think it's mixed OK, and the articulations are at least mid-tier indie game quality. Those bells are especially good. (edits)

This was my first attempt at original music almost a year ago. I want to remaster it, and would appreciate any outside critiques that my biased ears are probably tuning out. Thanks for the listen!

Souperion got a reaction from soundyg in Chrono Cross - Orchestral Medley
Wow, comes out swinging with grand brass and glory. N-o-i-c-e. Even without playing a minute of Chrono Cross (which I wish I could remedy) this tells an epic tale. I really like how you employed delicate instrumentation even in intense segments. Nice work!
