  1. Rellik, my point was that the "high quality" is something that depends on more than just a distorted sound. While you may be able to fool some people here, those cheapo amp sims wont fly when you're confronted by a guitarist. And yeah, I mainly bitch because logic and reason never really found a place here at OCR, so I find it best to just bitch aimlessly. People, like beatdrop up there, get too attached to what they use that they take any criticism on the software as if they themselves created it. Alot of people here generally have too much to prove and don't want to believe that they have room for improvement in their own abilities and in the software they use. Arguing about it intelligently and bitching about it both yeild the same result because like I said, they have too much to prove. This topic is making me feel like I'm 12 and arguing with some kid why my SNES is better than his NES because his parents wont get him one. "The square controller is just as good!" "The graphics look the same to me!" "Yeah well, your mom is fat!"
  2. Well, you know how I exagerrate everything I'm like Cranky Kong, I bitch about everything and nobody cares cuz they only wanna listen to people who are nice.
  3. Hey man, I don't mean to demean what you do, but if you see it that way, I don't really care because nobody even mentioned you specifically in this thread. FL will always be a poor way to create music. I don't care about wavetheory at all, no offense to whoever AE is. What's true to me will remain true until I prove myself wrong through experiance. I try versions of FL once in a while, and they just don't do it for me. If you're happy with what you use, that's great, but getting so overly defensive over software is a sign that you yourself have issues with it that you'd like to imagine don't exist. I mean honestly, getting upset because someone trashtalks the software you use? Nobody even brought your music into this, you're creating that argument all on your own. FL sucks, plain and simple. The PS2 sucks, but developers still manage to create good games for it. My music is my music, not Cubase music. If you can't dissasociate your music from the means of creating it, then you need to like, stop that o_O But like I told you earlier, I realise that FL is expanding itself, and in time it may even be where Cubase and ProTools and Sonar all are now, but everything is moving forward, so it looks like FL will never be something I can find useful to me. Oh, and Rellik, you must not have that much experiance with real guitar amplifiers. When I hear those free plugins that ever non or bad guitarist raves about, they sound like a voice talk program trying to emulate real speech. Non guitarists don't realise that an amplifier is an insturment just like a guitar or anything else. They have tonal responses and dynamic characteristics that are very hard to capture in emulated form. Guitar Rig is the ONLY software guitar modeling that comes close to faithfully reproducing how real amps work and feel. I mean, you can use an amp simulator to add distortion to a synth or something along those lines, but it's core functionality is what it should be based on. It's like me saying that my PS2 doesn't suck becuase it makes a great doorstop.
  4. Well, take what I said with a bit grain of salt, then. You don't have to take it literally. I believe that people that are okay CAN make good classical music, but most likely not. Classical music can be the most powerful of all the genres of music, and is very subtle. Theory controls the music oh-so-much. You so obviously missed that joke...
  5. Well, orchestral music can't be just "okay". Most people these days use that genre to be dramatic and larger than life. You can't be just okay if you're trying to move people through music. I mean cmon, next you'll tell me that it's possible to be a bad composer and become the most popular figure in the videogame music scene! HAH!
  6. Hah, I've heard orchestral music through GM midi that sounds better than orchestral music done with EWQLSO Platinum. It's all in how you write it. I got EWQLSO Silver, and I fucking SUCK at using it. No samples can replace good ol' fashioned MUSIC... Orchestral music (to me at least) is a very delicate genre that is completely unforgiving of a lackluster composition. Learn theory and learn it well before tackling such a beast. As for me, brainless metal will keep my fanbase happy and my lack of musical ability hidden!
  7. ASIO is a software protocol. any audio I/O device can have an ASIO driver implementation, the hardware won't make a difference on your CPU load. minus one point. SNR ratios are virtually dependent on physical connections and the quality of the ADC/DAC components. you're right that ASIO won't help those things but saying the drivers would be the culprit is not reliable. plus a half point. true dat. plus two points. 2.5 out of 4 points. your final grade is a D. study harder next time. cheers. It's easy to be a dick when you have FACTS, it's much more of a challange when you have to randomly pluck things out of your ass and hope they're right, like me! But yeah, my second point still stands as true. I'm not talking about line input noise, I mean the actual lack of headroom that a 16 bit soundcard fails at. You pretty much have to run your mix as close to clipping as possible beacuse mastering a song that peaks at -15dB with tracks bounced in a 16 bit environment will result in too much noise that'll have to get rolled off, most likely taking some of your song with them. A 24 bit card gives you a much more noiseless environment to work with, ergo giving you much more options and room for dynamics when it comes to mixing and mastering a song. If you start arguing with me that there is no difference in clarity and noise when comparing 16-bit to 24-bit drivers, I will never communicate with you again. You lose American asshole!
  8. Okay, Spire, you've outdone yourself! I love the album art, it wins on many levels. Just be sure to keep the projects open because there might be a track title change or two, you never know. Also, about the demo tracks, while I apreciate the vote for Doomsday, I'd prefer if people didn't consider my demo for the album. I already have 5 songs on this thing, someone else should have that spot. Right now I'm looking at using only about 5 songs from the teaser site. I've already decided on using Kanjika's Lost In The Desert and Xenon's Lava Passion. So please vote for 5 tracks that are not those three that I've already decided the fate of.
  9. Works fine on my laptop's onboard sound chip, which has an inherent latency of 7ms but no ASIO drivers. ASIO4ALL gets it down to 3ms with no problems. See above. -steve First off, it's not hardware ASIO, so it uses your CPU. Second, it doesn't replace the cheap and noisy 16 bit drivers of your soundcard, third it doesn't replace the bad jacks to your soundcard, fourth it is 3rd party shit that's not licensed by anyone, so if it fucks up your soundcard or PC, you're stuck with it. Using ASIO4all as an alternative to a REAL ASIO card is a joke. But like I said before, if you don't care enough about your music to invest money in it, don't expect me or anyone else to give a shit either.
  10. I need people to start nominating WIPs for the special disc! I want you all to list all the WIPs from the teaser site from a top to bottom list. The 5 highest voted songs will get chosen for the special disc.
  11. You can make your own sample, just eat two Wendy's tripple cheeseburgers, two orders of fries and a baked potato. The sound your ass will make when you're trying to squeeze all that out is what I refer to as a "Shit Pie".
  12. I don't know about FL, but in REAL sequencing software like Sonar or Cubase, the samplerate is based on your ASIO settings. I can run at 96khz with little CPU usage (since it's all in my audio interface). The point is that a CD will not accept anything that isn't 44khz 16bit. Burning a higher resolution wav to a CD will cause it to get warped and sound like shit pie.
  13. The only thing amazing about those is how many people decieve themselves into thinking that they sound good. There's a reason good guitar amp modeling costs a shitload of money. Guitar Suite is free because it's crap.
  14. ATTENTION! I am now starting to evaluate all the songs for volume. I will use a reasonably leveled song as a referance. Since I will not alter the songs in any way except for a simple volume boost/cut, I will most likely be lowering the volume of a few songs to match that of the rest (instead of compressing other songs to make them match).
  15. I'd rather combine the two, add in better integration, better workflow, more features, make it an overall better product, and call it Cubase. But that's just me. I mean, I think that recommending FL to someone is pretty much a death sentance when it comes to quality music. Unless you're Zircon, and there's only one of him. Keep in mind that I'm speaking with a biased opinion because I like GOOD music, alot of people who prefer mediocre crap may recommend FL and other similar software. .... Sorry Zirc, I just had to take this opportunity to trashtalk FLStudio. In all seriousness, it's best to get used to every kind of software out there. Try whatever demos (or most likely warezzzzz) that you can get your hands on, and really try to learn how each works. That way you can get the most out of what this industry is putting millions of dollars into every year. Alot of "n00bs" are too young and impatient, and they don't give themselves a chance to actually learn the software they're using. In 95% of cases, new ReMixers here are like... hmmm, looking for a good analogy...AHA!!! New ReMixers are like a first time button mashing arcade game player taking part in a Street Fighter III tournament. It may impress your dog and 7 year old sister, but it wont hold up against the little Chinese dude who hasn't moved from the machine in so long that his hands are permanently fused to the joystick and buttons. Who's sole purpose in life has become to destroy your personality by humiliating the fuck out of you with a 53 hit Yun bounce combo before he drops dead from malnutrition and dehidration. Or something along those lines. So yeah, make sure you know what you're doing before you start flooding rapidshare with shitty music. And no, I wont start taking my own advice
  16. I AM HUGE ASSHOLE I forgive you <3 As for Mr. rich bastard who thinks money can grow on trees.... <3 A $90 Audiophile is not expensive. Get a job. If you don't care enough about your music to invest some money in it, you don't deserve your ears.
  17. Considering I lost my work on my project songs 3 times, and redid all my songs 3 times over, I see no reason for you not to redo the logo
  18. The only time I had a problem with the re-conversion of a WAV is when I accidentally import a 48khz wave instead of a 44khz wav. If you import a 44khz wav then it doesn't recovert anything.
  19. Asio4All is garbage. Nothing can replace hardware ASIO drivers. Recommending this is instanely stupid. Most people I know who have tried it, have experianced latency problems, software problems, and audio problems. I don't see any reason for anyone to use this. Save up and get a real audio interface and leave this bootleg 3rd party shit to German newsgroup bootleggers.
  20. That's the stupidest idea I've ever heard. And you people are just encouraging him!
  21. Well, that's true, but it's also an element of technique because exagerrating your movements is not easy if you're in the middle of playing something, complicated or not. It's all a matter of your own personal style, which is a major part of technique. while he says that it's all useless motion, I can assure you that his music would sound more robotic if he didn't play like that.
