  1. Sweet, thanks guys. Prophet is one mad saxophonist. Any .... ... .. bassists? Like jazz bassists? Not plain 'ol guitar bass. That I can do (badly). I'm wanting a jazz bassist yo! pm/email
  2. Cool I'm always happy to hear about people interested in web standards. If everybody would stick to 'em, my job would be way easier Thanks for all the great praise everybody! Though VGF may not want us, I'm being interviewed about Hedgehog Heaven on April 13th, 10:30AM on a radio show in San Luis Obispo, California, called Unforgiving Edges. It's a somewhat new show, and doesn't yet have a website or stream, but I'll be getting an mp3 of the show and will post in on the site sometime later in the month. If anybody in the Californa area can tune in, please do! ... heh, I guess it would be good to know what frequency it's on... anyway, more to come.
  3. SAXOPHONIST WANTED! I gots da track laid down and da midi for anyone interested. PM/email me. Thanks
  4. C'mon Sadorf, you won't suck.... you'll sound exactly the same!
  5. Thanks for all the Robeatnik praise guys Hadyn, you're the MAN. Can't wait to hear more of your Sonic 3k stuff.
  6. I loved this on VGMix, and now I love it here. Reminds me a lot of some of the Provincialism Ys tracks. Very 80'sish, very fun, very nostalgic... though for other games, not SotN, which is weird. On a side note, was kinda surprised none of the judges mentioned the (kinda bad) use of FL Slayer.
  7. This is kickASS. Know what it sounds like? Danny Elfman meets djpretzel meets ... zircon. Is that Irina Brochin? Sounds great. That's all I got. Kudos, zircon.
  8. Hey guys -- before I get flooded with messages, my server is down. Apparently my hosting company decided we were getting too big (though I haven't yet even touched my bandwidth allowance). I'm pretty pissed and am getting ready to host with someone else, but this may take a day or so. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  9. Thanks for all the great feedback guys (especially the Radio/Robeatnik's comments -- it's really appreciated)! Tons of great email coming in as well -- great job mixers. So we've serverd over 12,000 hits and 100GB of data so far... anybody know if the torrent is still going well? I saw something about another bad seed a few pages back. Last time that was my work computer, so someone please let me know if that's still acting up. ... anybody willing to donate a mirror? The bandwidth is exceeding my best expectations!
  10. Hey guys Thanks for thinking of me... I love these projects (obviously). Yeah, it's really quite early to be launching imo, but sithlord seems really dedicated and the excitement in the community is undeniable. Especially with folks like Sir Nuts, Rayza, Hadyn, Joker, DarkeSword, Beatdrop... did I miss someone? Phew though, that's impressive by itself. So looks like it could definitely be successful. I'm happy to help in any way I can (if not remixing, then yes site design down the road). Sith, I'll hit you up on ICQ soon. In the meantime, good luck everyone!
  11. Thanks Nuts I've read all of your comments about HH so far and I must say they're intelligent, well thought and I agree with all of them. Kudos to you.
  12. Since I've had so many requests/suggestions for a Sonic 3 & Knuckles project, let me express my stance here... I will not be running such a project. Don't get me wrong, I had a BLAST managing HH, and may do something similar again at some point in the future. Those two games together have a total of 47 tracks (correct me if I'm wrong). That's QUITE an endeavor, and really not something I'm willing to tackle right now. Rather I'll be spending my time relaxing and improving my mixing skills. Oh and school and work and all that. Heh. I wish the best of luck to anyone that is thinking about managing a new project. But, at the risk of sounding egotistical and/or patronizing, allow me to give a few suggestions... I've learned a lot in the last year and a half, most of it the hard way. So why not at least take some pointers? Get out in the community: Know mixers, know LOTS of mixers. Be an active, avid, well-known member of the community. Hell, maybe even be popular (this one really would've helped HH NOT take so long) If you're known, your chances of succeeding and getting people to help out are much better. Line up mixers beforehand: Maybe around 30% of your tracks or so should be lined up before you even post a thread or solidify your plans. This will give you a great place to start and let others know that you're serious and have already taken measures to finish the project. Have a plan: How long will it take? Are you doing all the tracks? Who's doing site design? Where can we host WIPs? Can we post them in WIP forums? Are collaborations allowed? What if two separate remixers do the same track? Are we blending tracks? What order are they in? Do you intend for this to be an official OCR site project (and does djpretzel approve?)? LOTS of questions arise. Some need to be answered down the road, but for the most part, this should ALL be taken care of before you launch the idea to the public. Basically, get your shit together Have the OST available: This is absolutely necessary. Usually people remix tracks because they know it and love it, but sometimes, especially with remix projects, folks may not know the source material at all. Preferably in mp3 format or nsf or something that sounds like the original... MIDI is ok, but it's not always 100% faithful. Keep a Change Log: You need to know when what happened. When somebody signed up, when they dropped out, when certain milestones were achieved, etc etc. That is one of my biggest regrets about HH is I kept no change log. That would have been SO HELPFUL and interesting to see at the end. Read the ENTIRE history threads for other projects: Do it, you'll learn a lot. Be prepared to be there: Projects are a lot of work, but even if all you're going to do is manage, delegate, coordinate, all that stuff, you still must be readily available and consistently present to take care of tasks and issues that arise. Showing up once or twice a week isn't going to cut it. For example, if it takes a year (which realistically, it shouldn't... heh... ) are you going to be there the entire time? Please keep in mind these are just my opinions/suggestions and that I'm not the best example to go by. This project didn't run smoothly, and many (most) of the problems were my own direct fault. If you'd like more pointers, I'm sure Digital Coma and/or Protricity would be happy (?) to answer questions. Mythril Nazgul is also currently running The Dark Side of Phobos (very cool), and is a super nice guy that I'm sure would offer pointers if asked. Heh, sorry for the long post.. thanks for reading. I just love projects like this, and want to help out if I can. I wish the best of luck to the next one! On a side note, I would personally recommend waiting for a while before starting the next project. Check this board -- there are several in progress right now. People can't care about everything, there's just not enough time, and a lot of resources are being spent on those projects right now. Thanks again
  13. Well you've been really supportive for a long-ass time. It's truly appreciated. GO GET IT! Use the torrent if you can. We've already spent 15GB of bandwidth! WOO! And thanks I'm glad you like the site.
  14. The issues with the OST race tracks have been resolved. Thank you to everyone that emailed pointing that out. Lots of great praise coming in! Well done everybody. We've served well over 2,000 hits since about 10:30 last night
  15. Ditto for me. Though Hadyn, I must say I disagree. Yours kick teh ass. But next to analoq I guess we all sound like garbage So yeah one last slip-up for Hedgehog Heaven. The tracklist has been up here forever, so any inconsistencies there really should have been handled a while ago. However, the posting of the wrong track on OCR is just plain retardation on my part. Caught up in the heat of the release, I only read part of analoq's message and posted the wrong track. So, my apologies. Lucky for us all three of his tracks are stellar and easily OCR quality. There will be no torrent for the cd art. Please let me know of any site or other issues. Thank you everybody!
  16. TOOLS > Misc Macros > Prepare for MIDI export then FILE > Export > MIDI File... careful not to then save your .flp because all your channels would then be MIDI outs.
  17. Wow, how the hell'd you do that? I gotta mess with that when I get home... Anybody that went from 4.5.x -> 5.0 experiencing any latency differences? My buffer size is set the same but in 5.0 the latency is way worse.
  18. It's tough to get Dan B to say more than two words about such a thing, but his WIP is amazing, and I don't think any help of mine is needed. I withdraw my track. Good luck with the project.
  19. Looking for a flute like the one heard in The Lonely Shepherd. If nobody has any good ones, how about some advice on how to make a standard flute sound like that? If anybody wants to go all out, feel free to post an example here: ftp.paletteswap.com username: secret password: every1 Thanks! And feel free to flame me (and link me) if this has been requested before..
  20. Man, this is awesome. You know when your only real gripe is that it's too short and you want more that it's probably pretty good. But this sucker REALLY delivers. The initial break into the heavy stuff at 0:11 is also a little awkward, but is easily overlooked because the rest is so good. The bass is particularly inspired, the solo in the middle would make goat blush, and the organs at 1:43 are a very fitting touch. The oldschool ending was a nice contrast to the rest of the song; this is a mix that really shows off the mixer's skill. I played this game all the way through three or four times and maxed out my guys to level 99 the last time around... and you can beat it on like level 40 or so. So, needless to say I LOVE this and am so fucking glad somebody (other than GMF, kudos to him) finally did a remix from SitD. Thanks, Taika.

  22. Yeah, the acoustic samples are generally good enough (with some reverb of course) in Reason to sound great without much tweaking. What I've been going for (and failing at) recently is getting some good trance leads/pads and some really phat basses. Your tutorials are very green, SGX
  23. Yeah, I figured out the kind of hackish way of basically just duplicating a sequencer track and switching the module. That'll definitely work for sequencing. But the reason I thought of doing this is to get a fatter, more surrounding sound. Usually when I'm doing that I'm just playing with the keyboard a little.... but getting that to work with MIDI sounds pretty complex. Thanks for the input so far. Speaking of MIDI, is there a way to remove a MIDI map? I map a knob, then want to reassign the assigned knob on my controller to a different knob in Reason, but when I try to do that the knob ends up controlling multiple knobs. That sounds a little confusing.. basically I just want to remove an assigned knob and the option to do that won't let me.
  24. No ideas on that one? Sorta like the layer channel in FL...
