Bardic has it nail on the head. Why else do we have so many electronica pieces written in minor keys and sound anything OTHER than sad? Welcome aboard to the OCR forums! Yep, aside from the Workshop and links, the only other 'magic key' I can really think of is to make sure the source tune means something to you; that way it would be a lot easier to be able to write for. In addition to the Workshop, you can also try your luck over at the Competitions area, and hone your skills on any ongoing contests. A fair chunk of OCR's roster had developed their skills using that as an outlet

Damn right. I'll milk the crap out of anyone that stands in my way.

Nice, Kanthos! I don't know if you're my Secret Santa or not (didn't explicitly say so in the message), but thank you for gifting me The Secret of Monkey Island

Pandora isn't available outside of the United States though, so can't say anything for this

Letting you know I may be a few days late with the WIP due to various other projects that dropped within the week, but I can assure you it will be with you by Monday at the latest.

OCR02537 - Mega Man 6 & 1 "Synthesize This!"
Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Doesn't mean we still can't team up, right? It's more than just "give a song to someone to enhance it"; it's something that combines two minds into something that we may not necessarily do alone. Besides, you never know what you may say next... Nevertheless, I really appreciate the response that happened overnight! I never thought I'd have something more silly-ridiculous in my arrangement roster here at OCR, but it felt so worth it in the end. Major thank you to all! Now all that leaves in the MM6 roster is poor old Tomahawk Man. Who's up for that one? x) -
Package shipped! And once again, my identity's going to end up being rather obvious. Damn you Royal Mail!

I tried my best when I got it, but it ended up being a little bit too small. I've been rectifying things with my weight loss schemes as of late, and may even take it down to the next London Gaming Con when that rolls around

I saw! Thank you so much for gifting Cave Story! Whether we're each other's Santas or not, that's so generous of you

Updating my previous post in here with my Steam Wishlist, as per a couple of days ago.

I might as well post my own list in here too. Nice call * I'm a girl so remember that if you're going for anything specific, though I'm not quite as girly as Amy so stuff like cosmetics and perfume are out of the window. I tend to invest my money more on gadgetry more than anything else. * Gaming-wise, I regularly use my Wii, DS, PSP and PlayStation 3 (the latter I just acquired last week). I generally like my games to be more cartoon-like in nature, though this might be a bit difficult since I'm unable to play imported titles for anything other than Nintendo handhelds. * I'm a big fan of PS1 platformers (they to me were my glory days in regards to gaming); it's become obviously evident that I am a HUGE fan of Crash Bandicoot in particular, though I also have fond memories of Spyro, Klonoa and Ape Escape as well. * Talking of Spyro, I've also been collecting the Skylanders figures as of late. I would prefer that if someone DOES go down this route, they would go for any individual characters currently available that I don't own atm, which is actually a fair number. That can easily be imported over from country to country (and continent!) as well * I'm similarly open for some more ridiculous gift ideas, like some of the others have been stating. Though, be sure to keep the item clean (i.e. no NSFW stuff). * I also use the USA iTunes store as well as the UK one, so I'm open for gift cards too if you can't think of much else. * If in doubt, there's also my Steam Wishlist! Since getting this new PC in June I've been able to do that more often as well * And finally my most notable IRC trait; throwing Mr. Saturns at people, which is pretty much my equivalent of a facepalm. And there we go, a list from me!

Well I live in the UK, and I took part in my first OCR Secret Santa last year shipping gifts trans-Atlantic to BardicKnowledge. Typically it should take no longer than 2 weeks to ship from America to Europe (and the other way round); though, it should definitely be a good idea to pay attention to when the last post is.

I'm definitely giving this a go. My address hasn't changed since last year; do I still need to PM it you anyway?

You know, you seem to be the most awesome dad ever if things like THAT happened to your child.

When you said 'lullaby', this was the first thing that came to mind. In fact, you can't go wrong with most of Iggy Koopa's material; very calming, gentle, and sometimes minimalist too.

What's everyone being for halloween?

I confirmed on my Facebook page just now that my Halloween costume this year is Rouge the Bat. I think I'd be tidier on the face paint tomorrow night though -
NEW TORRENTS are FINALLY out! ReMixes 1-2500 AVAILABLE!
Rexy replied to Liontamer's topic in Announcements
So I noticed this when going around for higher quality encodings of mixes to replace the lower ones prior to the VBR1 switch - apparently, the final 13 seconds of DarkeSword's "Lore Hunter" are cut off abruptly. I'm not so sure if it's an error on Shariq's or Larry's end, but I thought it should still be brought up. Hoping this would get fixed as soon as you can. -
Fit Club ahoy! Where men are bros and women are also bros!

I admit I've been kind of out of it, but since being laid off last week (which I know, it sucks ) I've at least seen one benefit in going out for long walks more often. The tooth itself has recovered, a bit too late to seriously make an impact with the pushups, but I guess I'll be ready for the next challenge. -
You know, just looking down the list, I'm somehow excited to see how Brandon tears up the final boss JP side. Source tune to me was just plain epic to begin with, and I've got high hopes for him to pull this bad boy off

I'm going to a costume ball on the night. But I won't reveal my costume until it's fully complete. It's a fun one, though. -
FF6 Balance & Ruin Kickstarter RELAUNCHED (and FUNDED)!

Wow - looks like someone ended up going for the custom game soundtrack! Right at the last minute too - this'll be a treat to see go down -
https://t.co/sAGfoHmc Tracks used: * "The Wicked Wild" from Sonic and the Secret Rings * Will Smith's "Wild Wild West" When Saturday Night SEGA broadcasted last week, and "The Wicked Wild" ended up being on the playlist for that episode, Gavvie remarked in the following talkbed that he thought that would work well with some Will Smith rhymes over the top of it. This ended up being the results of that experiment. Don't think anything else needs to be added other than its sheer hilarity. Thank you

OCR02511 - Impulse "Strange Rock in the Heavens"
Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I got to have to hand it to Neblix - definitely one of his best works! I'm also keeping this one fairly brief as well, which is rare, but this managed to intertwine both sources well while managing to keep with the more spacy aspects of the source. Neblix may have told me that he believed that "Blackout Tower" for the previous GRMRB was amongst his best works, but I believe that structurally he has managed to kick it up to eleven and involved a significantly more engaging progression throughout its duration. It's also amongst one of his sharpest productions too; everything has a lot of punch, sounds clear and dynamic, and it's hard to believe all this through comparing this and his starting tracks when he got involved as well. What amazes me more is how much more consistent he's been getting at the writing aspect in such a short space of time. Let me be blunt here - "Heaven Awaits" interpreted the Prelude well and had a firmly produced vision, but to me the writing just felt too messy to really appreciate it all that much, and strangely he felt the same way whilst in conversation with him. Over time though, his writing methods have been getting more and more polished and engaging, and between this and his efforts with Plug Man in the GRMRB, I believe his works are becoming increasingly more accessible and all around fun to listen to, and I really hope he keeps up this trend. Who knows, maybe in the next two years he may even give brother DarkeSword a run for his money -

Awful Games In Awesome Series *SPOILERS AHOY!*
Rexy replied to Jax Mandrake's topic in General Discussion
You know, I almost said Sonic Heroes myself; but I couldn't really complain if I just found the special stages too hard at the time. Salluz brought in a good argument though, even though I feel that Sonic had been in deeper ruts than that O.o
