RWS 2-1 ReMixing With the Stars: Season 2, Episode 1: "Country Road"
Rexy replied to MindWanderer's topic in Competitions
I'm not here to sign up, but I have been keeping an eye on the compo's development during the first season and checking out everyone's involvement. It's been a good showing - even went as far as playing Tuberz's track in the Ultra-Modern round on SEGA Mixer Drive because it just blew me away in regards to what was put together from both him and Hakstock x) Either way, let's see how this goes! Good luck, all -
http://radio.sonicstadium.org/2013/04/sonic-radio-radiosega-and-segasonicradio-team-up-for-sonic-fan-music-festival-2013/ I'm not too sure if this thread belongs in Community, but hey, gotta get the word out, right? Originating at Sonic Radio, the Sonic Fan Music Festival is seen as an annual radio marathon event that recognizes fan remixes for the Sonic franchise and the people responsible for them. Remixers were invited to submit their own content for the event, while listeners could also let them know which tracks they consider to be their personal favorites. Last year, it was all organised by Sonic Radio's SonicRemix and ShadowRemix and had help from RadioSEGA's Gavvie, so it was a small team but was still a very strong effort. This time around, the team has extended to involve more of the DJ team over at not only RadioSEGA (which also includes myself doing an hour-long slot on the day), but also at the currently-reforming SegaSonic Radio. I was pointed to this by chance last year and saw it as a fun ride through and through. And now this year, I'd like to spread the word to anyone around OCR who's willing to contribute to this. All submissions are to be done via email at sonicremixATsonicradioDOTnet. So if you've got any Sonic remixes you've made yourself, and you want to send them over to this case, you can do that. Or if you don't make music, and you want to share your personal favorites anyway, you can do that too. Thanks for looking into this. Spindash away!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Bunny Apparently centuries ago, the hare was believed to reproduce without losing its virginity, and thus was linked with Mary. In addition, due to its reputation for birthing large litters during the spring, the rabbit appears to be a symbol for new life. Either way, yeah, Happy Easter to you too. I'd be spending time with my mother's side of the extended family at a Chinese buffet today; will be glad to see the entire gang

Kind of a brief one for me - when I'm in front of my desk, I use AKG K271s, which have aided me a heck of a lot when it comes to evaluating new music and mixing my own. For on the go... yeah, cheap Apple iPod headphones, here we go.

SEGA Saturn 20th Anniversary Album is CANCELLED
Rexy replied to Dave the Rave's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Well, I'm in. And I know just the thing. Sure, my nostalgia with Saturn games may be somewhat minimal in comparison to most others here, but I think I could handle a Sega Rally arrangement out there, remembering my fondness for playing it in the Arcade as a youth (and of course there was DAYTONAAAAAA... but that's another story ). Most likely I feel keen to try something with Ignition - tend to be a sucker more for the hooks on that one more than anything else -
Apparently, it's been a general opinion amongst fans of Skylanders that the Wii version of Spyro's Adventure was much more presentable on the Wii than the X360/PS3 versions. But I do see what you mean with shoddy Wii variations o.o*

I can't say I played all that many 'ports', but .

OCR02618 - Mega Man 6 & 9 "Liquid Metal"
Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
YES! xD I didn't actually just do a single 'fish' in one recording - in fact, Brandon spliced it from one of my Dr Seuss takes and put it there. I'll put in my initial reaction for prosperity's sake: -
My first WIP may be late Kyle, but do expect something in your mailbox by Friday at least. I've been kinda busy myself, but I've got a roadplan with this thing and by then my first ideas should be in a listenable form.

I'm no fan of commentary in vids myself unless I really want to hear said commentary in the first place, but all I can think of is that people who do Let's Plays are up for gaming challenges themselves. True, there may not be much fun in a game that's already been LP'd to death, but it tends to be a common reason. As Moomba also said, 'banter' is a part of it but I believe it depends on the person or group pulling it off. I wouldn't want to watch an entire LP if the person is either A) trying to be funny but they're not, trying to be informative but they're not, or even C) being completely unintelligible thus hampering the enjoyment of the run even more. And finally as Tensei said, there's 'obscurity' that also comes into it. If it's a game that barely anyone has played or doesn't have access to and they're curious to see how it gets played out, then that's a good way to go. That's actually a key part to the reason why in the past few years I did a couple of let's plays on my OWN Youtube channel covering Ape Escape 3 and Gex 3 (both with caption commentary as opposed to my voice >_<) - the European versions for both games were largely uncovered by anyone who covered either game, and both regional variants had significant voiceover differences throughout. But either way, I just have fun with games in general and don't see the point of recording myself doing a LP of something that's been done to death. But I'm still fine to see others depending on the content, which at this point is something that I don't necessarily do often.

I wouldn't call it 'funky' per se, but jmr did an EXCELLENT Super Mario Galaxy mix that involved great theramin work in its writing. Quirky, yet extremely well concepted.

Platinum Trophy Club (XBox included)
Rexy replied to The Legendary Zoltan's topic in General Discussion
I've only just gotten started with PS3 games, but got my first two platinums in the form of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (kind of an easy one I know xD) and Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time. Don't think I'd stack quite as much, trophies, but I do enjoy getting the most out of these games -
I guess I didn't state it too obviously in my profile, haha. Either way, I reside in the Lancashire region, which you can definitely understand how much of a pain it is for me to travel to London in the first place o_O

In a way, Chimp is right on the connections thing. Originally I was afraid of making such connections in case I'd get rejected again, but if your heart's in doing something for the community, it's a great idea to get out there and see what impact it can make. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results too; in my case, Brandon Strader towed me back into being a community regular, helped out with gear suggestions and even got me to perform death metal vocals for a yet-to-be-posted track; OA and DusK got me to do piano parts for tracks they worked on; Hylian Lemon wanted a piano performer for an arrangement on one of his Zelda: Oracle albums; and Monobrow even saved an old track of mine that burdened me for years. And that's just the tip of the iceberg; at the end of the day, great connections can help you considerably if you want to be a part of the community. Otherwise if you're really distressed over the standards, like I knew I was when I was struggling to even get a second track on the site, a brief break from the community and working on other material could help you. In the five years or so between mix submissions for both "Time's Anxiety" and "Hogtied", I focused more time on doing things for myself, improving social skills in other communities, still listening to the odd OC Remix now and again while still looking for album opportunities and running the PRC for a while, and even developing video editing skills which transferred well to OverClocked University's MAGFest set last month. Sometimes a bit of non-literal 'soul searching' would calm you over in the long run. Naturally, past rejections did make me feel afraid of trying again. But even with recent rejections, I saw that if there was a way to refine the track according to feedback, then I'd be more than happy to try again. The judges are surprisingly more approachable than you think, especially within these past 3-4 years. As for the tweet, that was the first of four I sent over to Red Rum this morning. Let me get all four to fit the context: The last few tweets ended up summing the whole thing up rather nicely too. I could say more, but I'm sure most of the visitors to the thread have already stated other thoughts on the matter. Again, keep your chin up, refine your arrangement ideas, and let's see you hopefully make it soon

PRC238 - RESULTS: Speed Of Time (Knuckles' Chaotix! + Star Ocean 3)
Rexy replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
Oh snap... someone picked some Knuckles Chaotix? Nice! This isn't saying that I'd be taking part in this one though, but as the host of SEGA Mixer Drive over on RadioSEGA, I am inclined to look into a selection of hot new releases each week. If someone does something killer enough out of Speed Slider, I'll be happy to play it on the show following the competition's ending. Make it a good one, all! -
Looking for a voice actress (It's for the TMNT IV OC ReMix Album)
Rexy replied to DusK's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
If DusK wanted a Kiwi April, then that's fine. Gotta go with his wishes. As for me, I would've taken interest, but I don't think I'd make a very convincing April myself o_O -
It takes a lot of staying power for a game that I thought I wouldn't like to be, well, liked. People already said great Steam titles like Jamestown and Rock of Ages, which blew away all expectations I had (although idk about you but the camera for Rock of Ages is bloomin' AWKWARD to use), and so it should be a good thing to mention other noted titles. New Super Mario Bros - So, it's obvious that I'm not really a fan of the Mario setting. I've always thought that with the pacing of the series in general, the tiresome concept of "saving Peach from Bowser" completely baffles me as to how people even baffle in and enjoy something that's pretty much been done to death on other systems. Alas, after some persuasion later, I decided to pick it up on the cheap and take it on vacation with me. And here's the kicker - Mario games are simply there to be FUN; something which I thought was severely missing in platformers of that day and age. Sure, the NSMB series eventually grew tiresome again after what I experienced with NSMBU, but for a while it was a fun take on Mario, with NSMB Wii being all the more INSANE with four players all at once! Crash Tag Team Racing - Didn't think Radical did all that great with the Simpsons games on the PS2, believe it or not. When I heard they were on development duty for Crash, I was scared; yet, I was even more scared with the character re-designs and complete change of concept for the kart racing after being used to the core concepts for Crash Team Racing / Crash Nitro Kart. And then when I heard there were platforming and shooting sections, I thought "what the hell, either change the name or I'm not accepting this as a legitimate racer". So naturally, I didn't buy it on release, but I eventually rented it for a laugh. Actually good simple fun if you don't mind the shaky presentation, though it did manage to set me up for the heaps more fun I got with Crash of the Titans when it came out a couple of years later. Sonic Riders - Thought it would be another generic Sonic title with skateboards. Yet as it turned out, the short campaign it had was tough, presentation was pretty cool and the soundtrack was extremely different from what I was used to (in a good way) - especially the track for Babylon Garden; hadn't had the panicked goosebumps from a single Sonic title for some time up til then Kind of older memories than most, but what can we do

I'm definitely up for that, and I know very well there'd be some others around the forums that would do that too. But one weird question: do we have to film ourselves giving these answers out, since this is a video documentary project?

RWS 1-4 ReMixing With the Stars: Season 1 Episode 4: "Yesteryear"

It's the 25th now... are you implying that you live far into the future, MindWanderer? I know about those wacky Australians, but... -
Lucio Baldomero - The Master System -- New VGM Hip-Hop
Rexy replied to Mustin's topic in General Discussion
About time you hooked this up, Mustin! I heard samples of Lucio's work through the album, and let me say he's definitely one up and coming artist within the hip hop arrangement scene. In fact, when the album came out a few weeks ago, I managed to spotlight his Sonic track in particular in a new remix release journal for RadioSEGA (This trend was since continued over into SEGA Mixer Drive, which is being broadcast there on a Friday night). All in all I was very optimistic about it, and I hope the added boost you stated here in the forums would help that and the rest of the album as well -
Final Fantasy III: Resurrection - Wrapping Up (Sign Consent Form!)
Rexy replied to Brandon Strader's topic in Projects
Brandon, cue me in for the Prelude. If you want this to be more "different" from the FF1 and 2 albums, I should have ideas for that -
Thought I'd ask this in here for those that run OCR's Youtube page. If it needs to be merged somewhere, then feel free, I guess. When I saw the recent mixpost for Super Dodge Ball "Almost Frozen" on Youtube, I saw that whoever uploaded it gave Monobrow first dibs. Usually, I'm under the assumption that the lead arranger (in that case, me) would be stated first, then the other artists involved; if not, is there a specific ordering on how you list the artists on Youtube? Please reply as soon as you can. Thanks

If you do that, Jeopardy may just become the best quiz show ever.
