  1. Uh? There's a difference between minimal ambience and just not doing anything. NO Though honestly the soft silence of it does kinda intrigue me...
  2. Well the first 40 seconds or so I thought were really cool... until I realized it had only been 40 seconds and not like two or three minutes. I dont see the reverb being a problem. So it changes the genre slightly, it's still an enjoyable sounding track. YES
  3. Questionable instrumentation. I'm not digging the combination of the SIDesque pad and the acidstabs under the warm pads. The drum type hits are also outofplace feeling. NO
  4. I think of all genre's we grade stringently this should be one of the strictest. At just over 2 minutes in I'm feeling horribly let down by this arrangement, the samples are nice, but the arrangement feels so flat and empty, like half of the song is missing. There could be a lot more texture and movement under this. NO
  5. *shhhhhh* *hangs head in shame* yes.. it is a clip of head like a hole Amazed it's taken this long for someone to call me on it. *sigh* Anyway, the last two years worth of remixes have been trying to make up for having submitted this one. (:
  6. I remember him asking me for advice on this one a whle back and trying to give him some feedback. I thought it was a great sounding mix with lots of very clean and well atriculated instrumentations and a very nice arrangement of the original theme. YES
  7. Definatly a very cool idea for a mix. I think this was executed about as well as you could expect given the fact that it's not really real instruments. This sounds like a top notch S3M from 1996, save for some needed EQing up in the highend. I really dig the retro arrangement feel, but I dont think that's the intention, and really isn't something that has a place on OCR I don't think. NO
  8. i really liked alot of stuff going on in this one, i liked the distortion as a pad in the background, but overall nothing really happened. NO
  9. Sounds messy instrument wise. Definatly would need some EQ loving to clean out some of the garbage sounds in a few of the samples. Also on the basis of what Prot said, that's a NO
  10. I suppose without having the original next it to compair I really can't make a sound judgement. I think this sounds pretty neat over all, so I will vote YES, but given the problems brought up I'm sure that I'd not only change my mind with the original on hand, and against all the other votes it hardly matters.
  11. Mesuck D: I'm disappointed I don't even see why this made it this far. NO
  12. Dont suppose I really need to vote on this one then. Sounds all good to me. YES
  13. It always fascinated me how people can create something with such muffled problems as far as reverb goes and not hear it to fix it. This sounds like cotton in my ears, and there really isn't much neat going on other than a piano rehash of the theme with other instruments that just don't match. Very messy NO
  14. damnit. when am I gonna hear the singing? 2:40 now and i'm still listenign to the same drum loop over and over. Ok here's a roll, maybe singing now? ok 3:00. Where was this three minutes ago? Oh my. Interesting effect cutting the vocals up to fit the melody and all, but it just doesn't sound good. This has some potential to be a really nice dance track with floaty female vocals, but as is this just seems like a 'concept' mp3. This could really use a "radio edit" style work over, cut down the length, or at least expand on the interesting bits and come back to us with a more streamlined song. NO
  15. Yeah, so I can deal with this. It's repeditive, but not all arrangements have to bring stuff to the forefront of the listening experience. Many of my tracks were designed to be run as background music to some other experience. Few of us would want to sit down and listen to the score of a movie without the images accompanying. This gets a little fuzzyunbalanced in the 40 or so seconds previous to the 3:00 mark, but overall the effect of the mix is tolerable to the point of being enjoyable. BUt what in the bloody blue hell is with 3:30? *sigh* Here I am about to say yes and then something like that has to show up. Ok, I think overall that one little "wtf?" moment is redeemed by the solid feel of the rest of the track. I dont much care for the music itself, but it's not musically. YES
  16. at one minute this has become so painful I cannot think of a single way it could redeem itself. NO
  17. A very cool arrangement yes indeed. I'm digging this 90%. That last 10% are the poor quality instruments being used. If this could be rendered using some nice quality samples and extended to at least the 2:50 mark this would be excellent ocremix material. NO
  18. This just sounds far too simple in execution as far as arrangement goes to really be OCRemix material. We have a standard here, and I just feel this doesn't cut it. Feels sloppy and uninspired. NO
  19. I really think this has no place on the judges board. OCRemix should not accept mp3s encoded at such a low bitrate. The vocals are the only thing carrying this mp3, and while a neat concept, this just doesn't fly. More over, the ID3 appears to be in japanese, which most systems cannot display correctly. NO
  20. I'm not really enjoying this one overall, I couldn't even recognize the theme until the last 30 seconds or so, maybe because I don't know the entire theme well enough, but the lead instrument has a very stereotypical buzz sound; missing some 'satisfying' highend overtones. That always bugged me about buzz, because you really had to fux0r with it to have it not sound 'cheap'. Second time through this remix now and I'm still just feeling bored with it, the drum loops is interesting, but I just don't feel enough movement in it. It's tedious feeling. Sure there are some interesting bits here and there, but overall I'm just feeling bored with it. That really makes me sad because I know how much work Per had to put into Buzz to do this track, because there is alot of stuff going on in the background, it just doesn't feel unified though to me. And what's that little hic at about -1:07? Also the ending, but that's been addressed several times now. I know a lot of work went into this, but it just doesn't cut it for me, Sorry Per-- NO
  21. game: Orge Battle track: Zenobia's Grave remix: A Champion has Risen [18:42:56] <Kwixinator> Umm.. i sent this in about 4 months ago.. i can't remember the exact date..I switched Email addresses between that time..but i havent heard anything about it, so.. umm yea.. the mix is actually a co-piece between me and Michael Dover, he also goes by the name of "israfel" .. I did the initial remix via FL, and we passed it back and forth, and he pumped out the final product, and gave me permission to post it, that simple. [18:56:48] <Kwixinator> The remix name is Zenobia's Grave: A Champion has Risen. [18:57:48] <Kwixinator> its from the 3rd Stage theme, i believe, the overworld theme. its from Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. edit: link edited
  22. Nice sounding stuff here. It's a very simple and minimal track. Makes me think of sitting next to a fireplace with someone playing the accoustic guitar while telling a story or something. I have no problems with this one. YES
  23. Happy Industrial, hm? The idea fills me with awe and terror. As always Mazedude provides solid souding and creative stuff. I'd be interested in knowing just what all data went into the creation of this. I remember a mod way back when that featured a few instruments that were .IFF format images of himself and his friends. Interesting stuffs.
  24. It really pisses me off that DJP's remixes are such neat stuff but that I just can't ever really get into them. Lots of really neat stuff going on in this one, has DJP written all over it, including the characteristic superhighrange mastery, even if it is a little more reasonable this time (Yoshi's Island 2001 Elastic New Year anyone?). Overall it's some damn neat stuff though. Nice work.
  25. Now see? This is exactly why those "Not another chrono trigger remix~!" posts are not always grounded. Yeah, we've heard this theme a million times over, but this is just a damn good arrangement. It's a wonderful little theme, and this just exploits the melody wonderfully. I really enjoyed this one Dan. It's nice to see someone bring a fresh look to a tired and overworked theme. Also, I thought the ending had a nice finality to it. Cool stuffs.
