  1. I'm going to bite the bullet. No. It's a beautiful arrangement, but I breaks the heart to say that despite the songs quality, it's not OC quality. This needs a better sample set, plain and simple.
  2. Protricity said "yes" to a song? DANIEL said "yes" to a song?! *fall + 3fasop* Holy shit. You deserve a yes purely on the grounds for making it past THESE two knuckleheads! Okay, seriously....*listens* 0:48-1:35 is making me want to bear your children....*done* Well Daniel called it when he said this sounds like a snippet of a longer Metroid medley. I thought the segment with the Brinstar theme was done well, but it just wasn't my cup tea. The whole marching aspect... well that and I don't like tea. Maybe it'll grow on me. Still, managing to separate objective from subjective wasn't all that hard as I tell a good job when I see (and hear) it. If I say "yes", will you let the teddy bear go? YOU KNOW what I'm talking about, Avien!
  3. Wow. I got the deciding vote again.... No. Why no? I don't dig the samples. I know, I know...Daniel already brought up a good point about not everyone having access to ubersampleriffic samples, but it's mainly the opening music box and the sax. I know sax samples are REALLY hard to get in good quality. so it's forgivable. I don't like the harmonica sample either. Okay samples aside. Let's say I liked them all....I'd still say no. Why? This is no different from the original .spc. I'd rather listen to that, no offense. This mix sounds like a step backwards. Everyone else seemed so torn on the fate of this mix, but it was painfully clear to me. No. P.S. Lose the crickets singing along.
  4. No. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the volume was an error, but that's enough to say no right there. As for the other reasons, you've looped the song for almost 4 minutes with barely any change in it whatsoever. With the exception of the bridge, you could've ended this at the one minute mark. I'll give you credit that it's a good arrangement. Your drum work is top notch. And the guitar samples are excellent. So what do you need to do? First and foremost lower your volume by many, many, many levels. Secondly, cut it down to about a minute½, two minutes TOPS. I'd loop once, throw in the bridge, play HALF the melody and then close. Send us one like that and we'll get back to you. don't give up because I DOES sound nice (once I lowered my volume nearly ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way down).
  5. Well looks like I'm the deciding vote. And that means that FielDYSnutS is not an official OCRemixer because I'm voting no. The mad breakbeat puts me in mind of a couple of other songs on the site (which I won't mention) that I liked. Its the same crazy style shown in this song. I like the lead synth, but it is a bit sharp. I can tell this even without earphones. The cut-off ending is . Avoid that in the future. If all else fails, go for a fade out. I don't have Daniel's ear, but I believe the out of key parts are located from 2:14-2:28 and from 3:21-3:50. Didn't sound right to me either. Fix that if you can, soften the piercing of your lead synth and find a new ending. Then you'll get a yes from me. I'm still keeping this on my hard drive though, so don't let me down!
  6. http://remix.overclocked.org/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/showpost.pl?Board=reviews&Number=809&page=8&view=expanded&mode=threaded&sb=7#Post809 Is this the review in question?
  7. heh.. sorry to bother you man, I hate bothering people that has responsabilities with something that I want, like you AP, but I've send one of my remixes more than 1 month ago(almost 2 months) and I want it to get reviewed. The last time I sended a remix it took 3 MONTHS to get reviewed, and I had to email djp and ask him if he could post it in the judges forums( a tetris remix). Actually, I did send one remix before this one I'm asking for a review, but I think it's better that it doesn't get reviewed cuz I find that remix somehow lacking now, and I didn't see it on the judges forums too(and I submitted it like more than 2 months ago). Anyways, I hope that you can do me the favor to post it in the judges forum or tell djp about it. The name of the song is Final fantasy 6 - Group madness in Narshe and you can find it at I really hope that this doesn't make an obstacle for the next remix I'm going to send soon, cuz I've heard that there must be some amount of time between submissions, but as I said I submitted this one long ago, so I think It's enough time. anyways, Thanks for your attention, and I hope I can see any results. About the song, it's a total twist from the original theme(The narshe town). I've worked hard on the drums and the dirty synths that it has, and I hope that you consider this ocr material. EDIT: ReMixer = FielDYSnuTS
  8. oooooohhhhhh stereo effects! always a plus. Wow, this is really good. And it's not too long either. THIS is how you construct your own drum loops. I'm gonna use this one as inspiration. Ha! And a mouse squeak at the end. My only qualm is...ah screw it. I think I'll have to review this one day Definite OC quality Yes.
  9. Now I see why Protricity yelled at me...sorry Prot. Is SMB 3 even in this song anywhere? Sounds more like a test of the abilities of someone who just came across FruityLoops. No.
  10. I'm not feelin' this one. I don't care for the samples. I do like the tempo changes and segues, but I'd find some better samples. They just don't fit well with me. No.
  11. ehhh... It's okay. I couldn't have done better, but I've heard better. Unfortunately, that particular arrangement 8.21MB, so it ain't gonna get posted. As for this...it's not so horrible that it can't get posted. I do have issues with the ending. The victory fanfare sounds cut off or incomplete. Hmmmmmm..... Besides it's been awhile since we've had a live acoustic guitar arrangement, hasn't it? Yes
  12. This really is how a piano piece should be done. It's reminicent of another piano track on the site which I won't name. Originally I wanted to say no. As recent as 4 seconds ago, I was going to vote no. Why? Because I heard a couple of bad notes which punctured some of the overall experience. But two things turn this into a yes. One is this site which has the sheet music for Time's Scar and the other was a comment made to me a while ago by Disco Dan. Both reminded me how hard it was to actually pull off something like this and that a few mistakes are forgiveable, especially for live recordings. I'd looooooooove to hear a cleaned up version, though. Despite it's imperfection, this isn't imperfect enough to hold back. The pro's outweigh the cons (to borrow a bit from Protricity). It coulda been 3 seconds longer though...
  13. It's cute sounding but like Protricity, I have to agree that the 100% reliance on a drumloop is your downfall. Lose the drum loop, create your own and then we'll talk about possibly maybe adding another instrument besides the chiptune. You also need to vary it up a bit more. No.
  14. I guess you guys get a lot of these... but I have to ask. It's been a loong time since I submitted. And several remixes that were made after mine has already been posted... including some that... hrrhm... borrowed certain elements from my song. I'm not sure you'll even say yes to it, but I really, really want to know. It got decent VGMix reviews. I submitted it some time ago... during the summer. 15. Hello, Around 6th October I submitted a remix with the following info: Game: Castlevania - Symphony of the Night Original Song: theme for the Long Library Original Composer: unknown (sorry.) Remix's Title: Scriabin's Long Library File info: 1:50, 192kbps, stereo, 44.1kHZ. Don't mean to pester you, but if you or the other judges have any idea on where it stands in the review process, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks, and good luck with everything. Regards Michael Contraveos
  16. You say to mail you if it's been a month or two since a mix was submitted, so here I am. Red Nostalgia v. 2 was submitted by myself in September or early October, as I recall, maybe earlier, and I have seen no sign of it. The address it can be DL'd from is . I do not ask that you evaluate it immediately, just making sure it's somewhere on the queue (I received a confirmation mail when I submitted it first). I'd also understand if there is some delay in evaluating it due to the finnicky nature of the geocities page (much over 4 meg, which is about the size of RN, per hour and I exceed allotted bandwidth and the site drops for a while). If it's on the queue, fine, I trust you'll get to it in due time (although an e-mail stating as much would not be unwelcome), otherwise getting to it within a month or so would be nice. And if my track record is against me here, I assure you this one isn't at all as repetitive as Hair's Breadth. Short, perhaps, but not repetitive. - seanstar
  17. I submitted a remix entitled "Brains Rot Your Videogames" from the videogame Beatmania IIDX about a two months ago or so. I don't know if it slipped through the cracks or not, but it was hosted at VGMix, and since VGMix is now down, I'd thought I'd give you an alternate link. You might have to copy and paste the link. ~Goolancer
  18. Well, you made the post in the "Judges Decisions" forum over at OC that if it had been a month or 2, that an e-mail of some sort should be sent along to a judge. So here is my e-mail to you These 2 submissions probably got passed over due to VGMix going offline and being unable for download since that was the only link I had at the time. My apologies for that, not that I had any control over it. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate it if you could slide these in sometime soon since they are both a month old. 19. Hi-- Here's the three remixes I did, but never bot judged yet. The first one (which was sent in two months ago) is a remix of the Desert Land song from Super Mario Bros. 3, the second one (which was sent six weeks ago) is a remix of the Birdo song from Super Mario Bros. 2, and the third one (which was sent four weeks ago) is a remix of the Lethal Lava Land song from Super Mario 64. Here are the remix file addresses (the names of the remixes will be in parenthesis after the file name): (Koopahara Mirage) EDIT: This is one of three.
  20. Well, it's Schala done brand new, that's for damn sure. Samples = top notch. And I like the idea of the native instruments (though like rob1, the nativity of origin seems to escape me at the moment. I wanna say Arabic). That drumloop is a tad old school, but thankfully Israfel doesn't force the ENTIRETY of the mix to rely upon it. If it had, I'd have said no. But I'm gonna end the gridlock and say yes.
  21. It's been a little over two months since I've sent this and I think it may have gotten lost somewhere, so just in case... Mixer: Israfel Title: Lesser Kerubic Patchwork website: http://www.sablewings.com It's Schala's Theme...again.
