  1. Unfortunatly no. The song got 'backburnered' and there it stayed. I'll probably take a look at it again sometime, try and fix it up a bit. It is pretty close to done anyway.
  2. New version: "Forbidden Memory" it is Update 3: Here is the latest version of this very "hard-to-finish-song". I added some new elements, one of which gets out of hand volume wise in a few places. I also think the climax has become a little muddy so I'll have to look into that. But I am still looking for comments. I've also come up with a couple names: 1. Forbidden Memory * 2. Forgotten Memory What do you think? Thanx guys Ryan Old posts Like most things, this is progressing slowly. I am thinking it is about 80-90% done now. Some questions for you: 1. Do you think I need a percussion track, standard or orchestral or otherwise? 2. Do I need to add more instrumentation to areas like 0:33 - 1:12, 3:25 - 4:10? 3. What should I call this song? (Titles usually come easy but not this time. I want a serious title, something that reflects the sadness and mystery of the melody and even the lost Hidden Palace level itself). Thanx Ryan OK so that wasn't much of a song. Here is a more complete version. Thou still pretty bare is many places (to be filled in soon), most of the structure of the song is now in place. I want to keep this one simple, and not used over 30 instruments like I usually do. Just 2 Solo Violins, Viola, Cello, Violin section, Piano, Harp and Celesta. That's it. Like most of my songs, There is a story behind what I'm trying to 'write'. If anyone is familiar with the story behind the Hidden Palace in Sonic 2, they will know what I mean when I say I am trying to convey the loneliness felt by the guardian of the Chaos Emerald and the Mystery surrounding the whole area. Let me know what you think! Ryan This is a clip from a song that I started back in 2005 and never got anywhere with, until last night. The first 23 seconds will most likely be changed or dumped all together. The rest of the song is what will be the ending of the song. I'm working backwards on this one! THIS IS NOT COMPLETE IN ANYWAY!!! thanx guys!
  3. Haha, Nice. Thanx guys. I really enjoyed this song too. It was the easiest one I ever did; It just flowed much more smoothy then all the other things I have tried. Anyway glad you like it. Any questions, let me know Later Ryan aka Random Hero
  4. Update 2: Here is and updated FULL VERSION of Plumber's Bane. Ryan
  5. Here is an update for the second movement of Plumber's Bane: "Beyond the Point of No Return". Truthfully this is pretty close to done. Just a few tweeks here and there.
  6. Updated version posted!!!!! I'm almost finished the second movement of "Plumber's Bane - Beyond the Point of No Return" but some instruments (guitars mostly) are giving me to much distortion. I will post it when I get that fixed. Ryan PS. Does anyone know if you can edit the title of a thread? I kinda want to change this one.
  7. Updated version: (I used a poor encoder for that one) Mostly just filling out the weak spots Ryan old post: Personal Project! Here's a little tune I've been working with off and on for over 4 months now. It may never be submitted to the judges, even when it's finished because I think it may break one of their submission rules. There is a lot of instrumentation missing (I just haven't thought it up yet) and there are a few (many) glitches like dropped and misplaced notes and stuff and some parts need to be completely overhauled. But I still would like to hear what you thing so far. I'm mainly looking for musical composition suggestions now because I haven't entered the mixing/technical phase at all yet. I'm still grappling with changing the song from a major key to a minor one. And there are a few sketchy transitions. (VERY WIP!!!) Oh if you haven't guessed, it's a cross between John Williams "Across the Stars" and Zelda's Theme from OOT. There is a lot of stuff directly from "Across the Stars" used and that's why I may never submit this. But who knows. If I never finish this song as a whole, I will definitely salvage parts of it to make other songs, especially the part from 4:28 to the end because I LOVE the section. Ryan
  8. Well, I can cross a couple of the 'Like to attempt' list. I just finished and submitted "Nightmare on Cemetery Lane", a remix in of the Main Grounds Theme from the Addams family which was in the style of 'Hard to to Starboard' by James Horner. woo hoo.
  9. I just submitted this song to the judges. I did make a few changes to the one posted here, taking some of the suggestions and adding some other stuff. Thanx again and wish me luck. Ryan
  10. That is the SNES and the most thought out of the versions. The other versions are not as well, ahhh, orchestrated, if you can call it that. the sections from 1:10-1:24 is based more in those versions with instrumentation from the SNES version and some of my own stuff thrown in.
  11. 150-200.. ok i don't feel bad anymore. lol.. Very prolific ain't you.. hahah, nothing wrong with that. I put a link to the original song in the second post. Not sure how many people actually know or even remember this game. And thanx for the suggestions. I assume your refering to the snare drum and not the bass drum. Let me know.
  12. For you guys who are not familiar with this game and its music, here is the original. I've never seen a remix from any of the music from this game.. Ryan
  13. I'm partical to orchestrated pieces and this one is pretty sweet. The brass gives it that great evil feeling. you could maybe used a little reverb on a couple of the instruments (drums and horns). Could maybe use some dark celos or other strings to add a bit of intensity towards the end but thats just my love of strings talking, as you can clearly hear in my own songs.. Nice work Ryan
  14. The arrangement is amazing. just wow!!! There are a few sample quality issues, drums in particular. But other then that, this is damn nice. I love the voice samples and The "Pizza Time" section from 2:05-2:43 just plain licks ass! If not for the drums and that'crunchy' background guitar heard thru most of the song, this is, in my opinion definity read for an ocr submit. Ryan
  15. Note: No finger snapping here! lol OK. Does anyone else have trouble finishing one project before starting another. Right now I have 8 unfinished songs on the go, one of which dates back to 2005. Oh well. Here's my newest song (Plumber's Bane has hit the crowded back burner to simmer). Please disregard the screwy audio data; should be 4:20, 192kbps. Its based on three different versions of the main theme (not the title theme),all composed by Jonathan Dunn, from three different version of the same game, The Addams Family. The primary source is the SNES version, though bits from the Amiga and Genesis versions were also used. The song is 98% done (I think), but I wanted some opinions before submitting it. Thanx Ryan
  16. My instrument sample folder is 109GB but my WIP and Complete folders only total ~1.30 GB. I thought that was bad enough. I think we are getting a bit off topic. lol Oh something to add to my Things to do: "Main Grounds Theme" or "Portrait Gallery Theme" or "Conservatory Theme" from "The Addams Family" (SNES).
  17. Love this tune. I used to record the original on my little bros tape recorder and listen to it non stop (when I used to rent SNES back in the day). And now zircon has turned it into something even better. I look at this song as an example of something to strive for in my own music. Maybe not in a "music style" way but definitely in regards to production. Everything just sounds so clear and crisp in this mix, which is something I am having trouble achieving. Thanks for the great song RR
  18. This is gonna be another slow release for me. I'm all tied up with school and midterms and other crap that I wish I never had to look at again. oh well. The only thing new I have come up with is a short into for the first movement. But it still needs A LOT of work. I also want to try any expand on the first main theme a bit, when i get the time. Question: Does anyone else think I need to re-sequence the drums in the second movement? I'm not sure if i like them that much. Opinions? Ryan
  19. 7.52 GB That's a little insane. What do u keep in those folders?
  20. Currently working on: -"Pumber's Bane": Both 1st and 2nd movements. In Progress and Need to finish: -"Hidden Palace Theme" (Sonic 2) [started 2005!!] -"The Sad Little Mushroom" (Super Mario Medley and Storyline. Almost done) -"Zelda's Theme" (OoT) vs Star Wars (I really like this one) -"Death Mountain Theme" (LttP) vs Star Wars (lost sequencer file) -"Battle of the Hylian Hero: 2nd Movement" Like to attempt: -Something from Sailor Moon: Another Story -Something in a style similar to "Hard to Starboard" by James Horner -Something from Mega Man 4 -Take the Intro from Alley Cat (an old IBM computer game from 1984), a tune that is nothing more then a series of BEEBS from the PC Speaker, and turn it into a full orchestral piece. hahah! -"Main Grounds Theme" or "Portrait Gallery Theme" or "Conservatory Theme" from "The Addams Family" (SNES). I am not going to school this summer so I will have lots of time then for the first time in almost 2 years. SCHOOL SUCKS! Ryan
  21. My brother told me about his death the other day and I was floored. It is definitly a great loss. I loved his bit about his wife having "Red Wine and PMS", and the waitress with the big boobs, always made me laugh. Where ever he is now is a much funnier place.
  22. Fun. That's the best description I can think of for this remix. It's just a happy little tune. The one thing that I heard almost instantly is the closeness between the Drum track/loop used here and the one used in the intro of Tiffany's, "I Think We're Alone Now". Now that brings me back... Actually this song reminds me of a couple of 80's songs at different points Though most of the names of those songs exacape me at the moment. Nice. Ryan
  23. Hey. Thanx for the sudjestions. I like "A Dargon Scorned" or the similar "A Dragon's Scorn". I do have another idea, but it's kinda long: "Beyond the Point of No Return". We'll see. Ryan
  24. I'd Love to try and get in on this but I'm to swamped with school. Besides, It usually takes me a long time (mounths) to get something started, let alone finish it. Good luck thou. I love this game and it's music!! Ryan
