OCR01277 - Earthworm Jim 2 "Invertebrate Retreat"
Nicole Adams replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is probably my favorite vocal ReMix because of Dan's voice. I never knew it was so amazing! zyko's rapping was a really cool additon since you wouldn't expect to hear something like it in a song with this tone. Vigilante's guitar playing is as awesome as ever, too! Nice job, guys! -
OCR01276 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "Set Sail"
Nicole Adams replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I remember hearing this way back when during the early stages and have been keeping my eye on it ever since then. I had a feeling it would get accepted onto OCR because of Blake's determination. He listened to the advice given by the WIP forum and after many months of work "Set Sail" made it onto OCR...and it fits quite nicely into the list, I must say. Nice job, Bliz! I knew you'd make it! -

Funny, it supports MIDI controllers but not other keyboards. -
This continues on after what the help file says. 1) You need to input note data into Reason's piano roll. 2) Then in the FL Studio step sequencer (I use the first pattern, but it's not necessary) right-click on the ReWired channel, Reason and click "Piano Roll." 3) Make one note (anywhere) as many measures as the data in Reason's piano roll is. Meaning, if an instrument/synth in Reason plays for nine measures, make the note in FL Studio nine measures. Hope that helps! The playlist is the big box that contains all of your patterns. You want to make new patterns when you have a section change (ex: intro, chorus, bridge), a change in an instrument/synth's rhythm or key or if you're automating something, such as volume or tempo. It's a good idea for one instrument/synth to have its own pattern. One exception would be a percussion loop. Some people have a few different percussion instruments playing in the same pattern. Good luck and have fun!

It sounds like you're using just that darn step sequencer (the box that contains each track with little squares next to each one) to layout your notes and rhythms. Right click on a track and select "Piano Roll" at the top of the menu. There you can make a song as long as you want and it is much better (and easier) than using just the step sequencer.

REASON - Please Direct Reason questions here

Alrighty, I'm having a little trouble with automation of ceratin devices. When I right-click on any of the global control knobs in NN-XT, for example, I have the ability to edit an automation. My problem is when I right-click on any of the knobs in the mixer or Advanced Reverb the edit automation selection is there, but not available for me to select. This didn't make any sense so I opened up one of SuperGreenX's project files and he had the ability to edit different automations of these same devices. All of my connections look right and I tried opening up a new project to see if I could be able to do it there but cannot. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem? -
OCRA-0002 - Donkey Kong Country: Kong in Concert
Nicole Adams replied to Digital Coma's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
I'm glad to see this album now released. I can tell all the artists put a lot of work into this because each song sounds terrific! Instruments/synths and arrangements all appealed to me. Each artist's addition of some good, original content is always great to hear. Nice job guys! -
Solution for clipping?
Nicole Adams replied to x.LANCIFER.x's topic in Music Composition & Production
Okay, so the "best" thing to do is level the volume so the peak is +0dB (without using a compressor)? This being for the loudest instrument of the group. Then I can use this instrument's volume as a starting point for balancing my other instruments, right? -
Solution for clipping?
Nicole Adams replied to x.LANCIFER.x's topic in Music Composition & Production
You're talking about the panning knob at the very top of the box of the channel settings, right? Will using this panning knob effectively pan effects, too? What do you think of the panning knob in the step sequencer? That's the one I've mostly used. Hmm, so how am I supposed to handle clipping? First you say to level it so the loudest peak reaches +0dB max, but then you say doing that kills a lot of a song's dynamics. -
Okay, so far I've never heard anything like this in FL. I'm currently ReMixing a tune from the game, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs. It's mostly an electronic piece, but it has classical elements in it also. Anyway, for the intro I wanna add strictly a classical, chamber-style section. I want to get a vintage sound and so far I added some heavy resonance and reverb, but I need--how do I explain--a crackly sound...like that a record makes before a song starts playing. Any of you FL gurus know of a plugin or somethin' else that is able to do this?

OCR01138 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "Forest Birdcussion"
Nicole Adams replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
It took me awhile to download this ReMix and I'm glad I finally did. This is such an awesome mix and my favorite by the man, Protricity. It's worth the whole 6:40. It never gets tiring; it just keeps getting better and better! Amazing work, Protricity! -
OCR01137 - Extreme-G "G-Storm"
Nicole Adams replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I remember first hearing this mix a couple months ago on vgmix.com and it became one of my favorite ReMixes. I love the game Extreme-G and the first level theme is my favorite in the game so I was extremely happy to see this track ReMixed...and by bLiNd! One of the best techno and trance mixers out there! Listening to this ReMix over and over never gets old. It's just so pumped up and energetic it never gets boring! Nice job on this amazing track, bLiNd! -
OCR01129 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 "Dream Pipe"
Nicole Adams replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I dig the mix, DarkeSword. Especially the opening, which really sets off the dreamy feel that I take you were goin' for cause of the name of this song. Great percussion patterns, too. A little long for me, but still an awesome mix! -
OCR00724 - Super Mario RPG "Farewell, Star Guardian"
Nicole Adams replied to Saunders's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Russell Cox knows what he's talkin' about in the forums so I decided to have a first listen to his stuff. This song is amazing! It was well arranged, the dynamics are awesome and I love how an instrument performs a solo then the rest of the instruments come in. Amazing work here man! -

This is a nice, mellow ReMix of the popular Ice Cap Zone tune. It gets me thinkin' for some reason. Good stuff dude! -

Amplitude is volume, right? What do you mean by, "in the dB range"? -

The peak meter is where I look to do this? -

By channel, do you mean left and right speakers? -
Solution for clipping?
Nicole Adams replied to x.LANCIFER.x's topic in Music Composition & Production
To find out what the instrument reaches, do I just look at the peak meter in FL Studio's mixer? If so, there are two columns that show two different dB for the instrument. Why are there two? I take it this method will also make my tracks just about the same volume as each other? -
Solution for clipping?

Yeah, I actually didn't really understand your example. How come it matters if you pan before or after the compression? -
Solution for clipping?
Nicole Adams replied to x.LANCIFER.x's topic in Music Composition & Production
But the way to have equal compression or of any other effect for each side, just pan when the mix is almost done? -
Solution for clipping?
Nicole Adams replied to x.LANCIFER.x's topic in Music Composition & Production
So add pan from the different sources basically when the song is just about done?
