  1. Buy "Nesteryears" by Blind. It's one of the best electronic albums I have heard in years. Lots of trance and dubstep, and it's done tastefully. http://music.gamechops.com/album/nesteryears Oh, and
  2. ^ Agreed. I can face a giant explosion, given the circumstances and the fact that it would repeat over and over.
  3. Dead or Alive Extreme. Scantily clad women, tropical island, just play volleyball every day. I mean c'mon.
  4. Eh...a bit of bitching, but to me it's more of pondering where individuals would like to see the series go next. It may sound like people hate the series on here, but they really just want the best for it. I'm definitely going to support the Zelda series and I just finished Wind Waker HD, so no worries dude. On another note, totally stoked for Super Mario 3d world.
  5. For the next home console Zelda, I say his crew should get rid of most of the mini-games and padding make a streamlined Zelda game ala Link to The Past. The dungeons didn't take three hours, the heart pieces didn't take forever to collect, and I personally don't feel like hunting down 100 poes or 30 bugs. The game doesn't have to take 50 hours, given that all items are collected and quests completed, to be enjoyable or lasting. I'm not saying that I haven't enjoyed recent entries but the padding out is obvious and Skyward Sword dragged a bit. I would've been happier to have a connected and larger overworld to explore. So, maybe it's time to skip on the sky or the water or time travel this time, and put the series back to its roots, aka grab a sword and go stab stuff, run around through woods and caves and try not to die. No cute sidekick, no diving through rings for rupees. Maybe an upgrade system similar to Skyward Sword - but don't make me go collect butterfly semen or bee hives for two hours just to make my bug net bigger. I give you rupees and you sell it to me, or I save your friend and he can temper my sword. Just some woods, some dungeons, a few puzzles here and there and lots of stuff out to kill you. And a princess to save, of course. Sorry ahead of time if my opinions are a little strong today.
  6. I must concur that A Link to The Past had the best story. I don't know why, but the game feels so complete. I'm not saying that I haven't enjoyed later Zelda games, I just feel like they try a little to hard to make the game 50 hours long rather than make a shorter adventure that is packed with awesome from start to finish. I don't really need dungeons that take two hours or to hunt down 100 poes. But with them making a sequel to that game maybe the creators are reevaluating what makes the series work, and I will always check out new Zelda games regardless or my opinion on here.
  7. Trust me. They work very well. I took out the boss on Dragon Roost Island in less than five minutes. It's much easier using tilt than the analog. Everyone's different, so perhaps that rule doesn't apply, but the motion controls are kept to a minimum and work very well. And the touchscreen controls make the game a cinch to play. A game featuring touch-screen controls, traditional controls, and motion controls. And guess what? It works extremely well.
  8. Hmm. Interesting words in this conversation and a few good points as well. I'm not sure how I feel about motion controls in Zelda games. Some of the fights in Skyward Sword were amazing but some parts did feel like a chore. Whereas when it's used in games like "Punch-Out" I really enjoy it and embrace the motion controls. I think motion controls can be used for better or worse depending on the type of game. I have currently been playing Wind Waker HD, which I will claim is the best remake that I have ever played. The gamepad, which can be used to assign items and view the map, is put to excellent use. The only true motion controls in the game are used with the gamepad to aim the grappling hook, boomerang, hookshot, and bow. This works very well, and for me it's much easier to use these items with this method rather than an analog stick. The rest of the controls are however "normal" and the game does not have near as much emphasis on using kinetics to control the game as other recent Zelda games do. I also loved the motion controls for Metroid Prime 3, and I really want to get my hands on the Prime Collection. Motion controls, when done right, can add to the experience, or break it. For me, Zelda already requires a hefty chunk of my brain, so I would prefer motion controls to be minimal at most. Wind Waker HD has done well with this.
  9. ^ Nice post up there. They really put a lot into the remake. I just picked the game up three hours ago and I just beat the boss of Dragon Roost Island . The controls for the grappling hook make that dungeon way less frustrating and I beat the boss so easily that I was dumbfounded when I found out it was already dead. I also find it quite easier to climb up those pesky ladders coming from the ocean and also find it harder to fall off. Also, I really like how the enemies drop specific items. I already have almost enough butterfly pendants to get the teacher's cabana. My question is, does the shopowner actually give you anything for collecting all of those points this time around? You know what I'm talking about. Guess we'll find out. Maybe it includes the option to murder him?
  10. Monster Party, the Splatterhouse games, and I also get a huge craving for A Link To The Past when fall weather hits. I couldn't think of a more appropriate game than Monster Party though. I think Earthbound is pretty good for Halloween too, not just in Threed, but really throughout the whole game.
  11. Wii Sports U looks awesome. I wonder if the bowling will be as accessible. I remember my best bud's 5-year-old cousin pulling off close to a 300 and beating everyone in the room. Also, Strader, your sig is going to give me nightmares. That's just wrong dude.
  12. I don't see the problem. I personally like violent games and also non-violent ones. Sometimes I just want something whimsical and pretty like Mario or Kirby, but sometimes I want something bloody and disturbing like No More Heroes or Splatterhouse. The front of the game has a rating that tells you whether or not it's violent, so there's really no problem if you're paying attention. Even the box art gives it away. Does it have blood or guns on the front? Watch out. GTA can be a little disheartening, but c'mon, you know what you're getting into before you even jump in that swimming pool.
  13. Yeah, I meant figurines. I was just trying to express that I was disappointed with the game until I bought a few of the figurines. That has made the game worth it. Fun stuff. I think it would be pretty cool to tote a bad-ass mewtwo over to your friends house and help out. Yeah, but Nintendo, they do know how to get to that wallet. If I sounded a little rowdy yesterday it's because I had two beers and a couple of shots of rum. That's how I roll. Anyway....back to topic I Guess.
  14. So......screw Pokemon Rumble U. What a piece of crap game. Good graphics, decent music, fun but simple gameplay, can't even level up your characters like on the Wii version. On top of that the levels are all stadium, not full map levels. A couple of days later. I'm in the game store picking up some used games from the bargain bin. I pick up two of the pokeballs. Stupid, non-labelled pokeballs so you can't even tell what kind of pokemon you are going to get. And then I try out the NFC. Wow. So, very mediocre game, until you get the figures. The NFC is pretty awesome. I will be leveling up my Mewtew and Deoxys to the max. Anyone else tried it out? Pretty cool.
  15. So, we all know Inafune left capcom and all that drama a few years back. His company comcept is working on what looks to be a spiritual successor to the Mega Man series. I like what I see so far, and it's only coming to pc as of now, but the game looks good. Plus, the composer for the first Mega Man game is on board for the soundtrack, plus a lot of other talents. Looks good to me. Here's the kickstarter page since it has trailer, pics, and some of the music. . http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9 Thoughts?
  16. I'm going to pick up Rayman sometime this year. I remember Raving Rabbids on Wii and that was just a spinoff so I'm basically new to the series. I recently decided to give the challenges app/demo a try on Wii U. It's very fun just screams quality all around. The graphics, the music, the ability to play as a red-headed female viking has pretty much sold me. I also really like the touchscreen sections.
  17. I'm digging Wayforward's support. Mighty Switch Force 2 in October! http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/35306
  18. Unless Russia invades the US or something equivalent to that happens in the US, the Wii U will fly off shelves at the release of Kart and Brawl. Mark my words. Those two games kept the gamecube breathing and their iterations on Wii moved consoles like mad. That's not including the recently announced price cut and the games coming out this year, which may very well move plenty of consoles. It's a 299 Zelda bundle. It'll sell. And by the time people start finally shelling out for a wii u, there will be a good number of game options instead of the somewhat weak lineup us early adopters gave ourselves. Will it beat out the PS3 and Xbone? No. And I don't care. I don't want everyone else to fail. I want to see Wii U be successful on its own enough so that I run into others who play it and enjoy it on the street, and that the system is remembered well down in the future for a good library of games, and that I have fun with it while I have it. Nothing wrong with that.
  19. A price drop to 299 for the deluxe model was just announced, and there's going to be a Windwaker bundle some time this holiday. Also, Windwaker is due October the 4th but the digital download will be out in September. No word on the the regular 8 gb model yet. Hopefully it will be phased out. Edit: Also Mario 3D World on November 22 and DKC:TF on December 6th.
  20. It's time to bring back the X series. At the very least, the Mega Man series deserves a major release, be it X, the original, Legends. Something. I loved 9 and 10. I'm just saying they need to pull out all the stops and make it happen.
  21. Interesting thread. Alright, it's probably been said before, but here's my fanboy wet dream: I would like an hd, 3d sequel to Super Mario Bros. 2. Control scheme is Wiimote + nunchuk. The nunchuck would be for movement, and the wiimote would use an up gesture plus B to lift and forward gesture plus B to throw. There would also be an aiming option for pointer controls. Of course, motion controls would be optional, but they would be there for those who care. All four characters would return with their previous differences plus a unique action for each character, but the control scheme would remain simple. Instead of the characters keeping their cartoonish likenesses they've had, the graphic style would actually be more "mature", making Mario and Luigi display their age and overweight appearances shown in various pieces of fan art. I would also like to see a deep, emotional story, with someone's life on the line. The bosses would be big. Birdo and Mouser would return, but would be stronger each time, There would be voice acting and Mouser would be a total dick. The phantom that chaces you would break into a scene that resembles the scarecrow parts from Batman Arkham Asylum. The whole game would be an adventure game at the core, but a total head trip. Mario would go beyond his "It's a me, Mario" personality. Basically the characters would have dimensions to them. Just call it "Return to Subcon". Don't even put Mario in the title. Put some sick art on the box and let people take chances with it. Also, I would like it to have the same level structure but options for revisiting levels and going back to them with keys you didn't have before. An RPG-like upgrade system to power up your characters might be cool, or maybe that's too much. Developer? Retro Studios. I would also LOVE to see Sega work with someone sharp, I don't know who, someone who is really good with story and keeping games modern, and develop a new Phantasy Star. Not an online MMO. I mean a story-driven straight up awesome RPG, with a clear beginning an end. Maybe multiple endings that deviate slightly, but WOW I would love to see some of those developers return with passion. They pushed the genesis as hard as possible. Okay I'm done for now. You may laugh away.
  22. I tried it and it was pretty awesome. Right now I'm still torn between it and Pikmin 3. There's only a budget for one "little people attack big stuff" game right now, though I'm sure both are worth the price.
  23. Got home, downloaded the Wii U version. So far, it's exceeded my expectations. I figured wayforward would do a job. So far, I've beaten the intro/vault stage and the moon. A few things I noticed that are different, I mean obviously the graphics and sound which are done really well. The voice acting really does a nice job explaining everything out. The levels are also notably longer, I think the moon stage took me over 30 minutes to beat, although I'm a bit of a completionist and turned everything over looking for treasure. I don't want to spoil it, but they expand on a lot of things: Gizmoduck is cool when you finally set him free. He helps you blow shit up all over the place instead of just that one little barrier. Also you can dive in your vault like on the cartoon...and....the bosses take way more hits so get ready, at least on medium difficulty - the default is easy. So far I'm really enjoying it. I beat the original game at a birthday party when I was a little kid, so this game is really important to me and I like what they've done with it. I hope lots of people buy this game and that Capcom continues the remakes, especially if Wayforward is involved. Now off to finish game and try to get something good on the leaderboards before it gets taken over.
