  1. I didn't think I would care about Nintendo bringing its regular array of first party games, but overall I'm really excited about seeing what they're bringing this year. 3rd party might be lacking minus indie devs. That's key word "might - don't get offended, still it's nice to see that they're cranking them out. I even heard one of my friends state that he has heard about some of the games coming out and is waiting for a price drop to get Wii U. And he's a hardcore Sony fan. A few friends of mine even mentioned that they are getting the console this winter or when Kart comes about. I think things are looking up for big N. Once they roll out the goods people will take notice. Games are what gamers want to hear about anyway, right? To hell with money-bragging, which is what over half of those big presentations have been about the past few years. I've been a ninty fan for 25 years and even I cringed at the last few E3 presentations from Nintendo.
  2. Wow. http://news.cnet.com/8301-10797_3-57581124-235/nintendos-earnings-disappoint-as-wii-u-falls-short/ "For the "Wii U" system, launched in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013, there were some delays in software development that resulted in intervals between new software title releases at the early stage of this year. Taking this into consideration, for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, we plan to concentrate on proactively releasing key Nintendo titles from the second half of this year through next year in order to regain momentum for the platform. Nintendo strives to improve the sales by communicating the compelling nature of our hardware and software to as many people as possible through our new network service called "Miiverse," which offers an environment where people can empathize with others and share their gaming experiences. We also strive to reduce costs to improve hardware profitability." I don't know if this is good news or bad news. I think consumers and reviewers have been way too hard on the Wii U console. That said, I think Nintendo needs to get with the times and get the games out. You can tell that the company is really trying to appeal to its legacy fans here. ALTTP 2? Earthbound finally. I just think such a crazy decision like this occurring is really reflective of the world economy, just things in general. A head from Japan putting in a position at America? Regardless if it's more title to appeal to investors, it's still a big deal. This is unprecedented, coming from Nintendo, in my little humble opinion. I hope this is good news for the company and I really think that they are willing to acknowledge that they messed up. Regardless, I still love the Wii U. Release the big names, market the damn thing, and bring back Starfox and F-Zero, and don't just make new IP, but market them. As far as the company caving in, I personally wouldn't count on it yet. Nintendo is sitting on a big pile of money, regardless of profit loss. They have been playing this game since the late 1800's, but I strongly believe they are having to step it up because they are losing their presence in the Western hemisphere. I look forward to seeing what the company will do now that it has its head removed from its hind quarters. Good luck and I'll see you guys on Mario Kart HD a little faster now. Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatsumi_Kimishima I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Just listen to dude up above. Apparently heads from Japan coming to America already happened before. Oops.
  3. Fair enough. I'm not against the Mega Man series changing. If Capcom wants to make a gritty dark FPS and/or reinvent the whole series, I will be there on day 1. Still, I don't see anything wrong with the same-old. Mega Man 9 and 10 were great, I'm game either way.
  4. And Justin Bieber's music is superior to that of The Beatles. But really, to me, The Mega Man games and maybe Contra were the pinnacle for platforming-shooting. There's some good stuff out there but these games are called classics for good reason. Also, I'm not going to include Metroid-vania style games in this as those are a slightly different genre, imo.
  5. I would buy it. Sure I would hope the music to be a little less "creepy" and to have his bullets be more like his shots in the other games, but I would totally but it if they were to put the project back in the spinner. Also, in defense of that video, the music and stages in Legends were gritty and usually extremely creepy. Though, like some of you, I would prefer a rock and techno mix like the X games, but with a more "modern" feel. I think it would work.
  6. Gonna have to go with the ridiculous item / rubber band system in Mario Kart Wii. It's still a pretty good game and had lots of good ideas, but there are times when even a die-hard will get hit five times in a row and knocked from the very first to the end of the pack. I think Nintendo were trying a little too hard to capture the casual audience with that one. Double Dash had a similar system but it was way toned down compared to the follow up and the best players almost always won. For Street Fighter 4, I would've changed the art style. It looks fine as is, but I would've preferred a more "Japanese" art style, say more anime-looking characters or even hand-drawn sprites over polygons. The anime scenes and the more western art style clashed pretty hard. There are several things I would've liked to change about Metroid Other M (Samus' "submissive" role I would like to eliminate), but since this is one per game, I would've really liked using a nunchuk instead of having to switch the control at a 90 degree angle every time I feel like using first person mode. Mega Man in MVC3. Zero is a welcome addition, but it would've been nice to also have MMX or the MVC2 version of Mega Man revised. Final Fantasy VI - allow a second playthrough where you can keep General Leo alive and change the story. The game is already perfect without it. I just think it would be cool. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn gave you the option to keep King Pelleas the second time around, and pretty much doubled its replay value. That isn't to say I couldn't play FFVI a million times over.
  7. An article basically stating that there could be more Disney-Capcom titles in the future, depending on sales of this game: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/03/capcom_explains_how_ducktales_remastered_came_to_be
  8. Impressive. Which I wouldn't expect anything less from the guy.
  9. I really really really really hope that this does not happen. Because that would be even more money out of my wallet. It did look like there were some additional levels and scenes put in, so hopefully one pop and no dlc. Also, capcom....You have Wayforward at your disposal. Time to get Mega Man and/or X series back off the ground. If you won't let Inafune do it then let these guys do it. Mighty Switch Force proves Wayforward could nail the Mega Man series with little hand-holding and I would love to see what Virt could do with some Mega-tuneage.
  10. I agree those games are good. I would also recommend Runner 2 as it is easily worth the 15 dollar admission fee and it's one hell of a challenge.
  11. I listened to the whole thing last night, and will purchase a copy this weekend (I left my wallet at home). I've been following you guys since I heard the first album maybe six or seven years ago, and everything you put out continues to floor me. I really like the new stuff, and "Sex Person" is my favorite so far, but 5/7 tracks I just love, which is more than I can say about most albums with twice as many tracks. The progressions and changes on each song are just off-the-wall.and unpredictable, which is one of my favorite qualities of your band. I also think the rhymes have been stepped up, as if they weren't strong enough in the first place. Just as good as the first two, track for track in my opinion (they're all great).
  12. Mighty Switch Force for 5 US dollars! Also F-Zero for 30 cents - And it has online functions. Also new demos. Sweet.
  13. I think there's a little grey area. Do I think that the Wii U will get as much casual attention as the Wii? No. Do I think that the Wii U will ultimately fail to get attention from the casual market? Nah. At least I hope not. I do believe as well that a lot of those casuals are playing smartphones, tablets, and free web games now. Nintendo said before the Wii U was released that Apple and similar companies would be their biggest competitors. Still, I don't think a smartphone will ever reproduce a proper console experience. I will always come back to consoles. I'm quite the pc gamer myself these days and I still love to sit my ass in front of a console and go to town - Then again I don't speak for everyone. The gaming environment has changed drastically, and like it or not, we will have to deal with that. People who like in depth, 40-hour-long type games, are going to have to share space with the Angry Birds crowd. It could be good or bad. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Edit: Thanks for adding me unstablehamster.
  14. I don't normally agree with Brushfire, but he might have a point with the casuals moving on. It doesn't mean that Nintendo still can't capture some of them, but even if the Wii U doesn't sell as well as its predecessor, it can still be a successful console. Regarding Sony and Microsoft's next consoles, I think the Wii U may actually increase in sales when those consoles come out, as attention will be drawn to all three. And if Nintendo wants success then they will need a kiosk on every corner. I wasn't hyped for the Wii U at all until I tried it out - then I had to have one. On a sort of related note, I beat stage 9 of Zelda Battle Quest last night. Nintendoland looks kiddy on the outside but damn will it bring the pain.
  15. I saw you the other day on Miiverse Doulifee! Anyway. Less than 100,000 units moved in the US, somewhere over 50,000 actually. It may just be an economic slump. Nintendo need to market the console heavier in my opinion. I'm not trying to be a fanboy, I just want this console to be successful so it can realize its potential as a console. I already like it way more than the Wii - sad it isn't selling like the Wii though. Maybe things will turn around?
  16. So, if you don't mind, why don't we talk about the Wind Waker remake for a bit? It's obvious that there are a lot of people excited about this game. I'm really eager to hear what new features will be added. So I'm going to toss some hypothetical questions out there and if you feel like you can come up with some answers, then go for it. Of course it's going to be here say but go for it. First, how will the gamepad be implemented? For a map, or for stylus navigation on the seas? Both? How about aiming, and the picture box? Second? Will there be new dungeons? Many know that the original was supposed to have more but Nintendo had to get the game out. Also, it was stated that Nintendo originally wanted to make more of Hyrule accessible. Being able to actually walk on Hyrule ground near the end of the game was creepy yet very awesome. I would like to see more of it. Another feature that I would like would be more "real" islands. Larger landmasses. More houses, forests, caves. I understand that water is a central theme in the game, both in style and design, but I would like some more land too. What else can we speculate?
  17. I finally broke down and bought a digital copy. This stuff is great. I would like sequel in the same style with more oddball sources of music, although there are some weird ones in there and I like that.
  18. “When we saw all the comments when we announced the game would be focused on Wii U, all of the people that have both the PlayStation 3 and 360 were really disappointed,” Poix told IGN. “So we thought it was making more sense to also bring the game to where it was originally from. That means Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. So we decided to go for a multiplatform launch simultaneously.” No corporation does this for "fans". Corporations make these decisions for money. One could argue that since now there are comments from Wii U and Rayman fans who bought the Wii U to experience the game that they should go ahead and release it. The bottom line is that Ubisoft will get more money with this release, and regardless of how much Wii U fans complain, they are making more money by doing this. I wasn't planning on buying the game. Renting yes. I played the demo and it was cool. There's no telling what some party will release on the eshop or in stores between now and September, when HD windwaker comes out. Hell, Mighty Switch Force HD is 10 bucks right now.
  19. I would be happy to try my hand at this, but it may have to wait, as my wife is hogging the Wii U watching Arrested Development.
  20. I actually really like the Mii system on the Wii U. Taking a photo and then modding it out is a really fun process. We even made a Mii for the dog yesterday, although it took a bit of work. I do wish that the clothes could be customized like the xbox avatars, but as far as the process of creation and the integration of its avatars, the Wii U is great at it. By the way, regarding the range of the console's tablet, I seemed to lose connection after getting about 10 feet from the console. It was between the Wii and Xbox on my gaming shelf, so I pulled it out onto the floor by itself. I can play outside and it almost makes it to the bedroom now.
  21. Just saw three friend adds. Thanks guys. Yeah, looks like we're some brown-haired vanilla folk. Oh well. By the way, I recommend hooking up the Wii U to a big stereo and using youtube as a jukebox. I guess I will see if I can get Pandora or another music service to work as youtube downgrades its audio quite a bit.
  22. My username is daveoneal. Please add me. I've registered everybody in the username list so ball's in your park I guess.
  23. That's cool. Just being able to watch netflix and youtube outdoors and in bed sounds awesome. I can see lots of outdoor gaming / movie watching with this thing. Being able to control the TV without switching to another remote is absolutely sublime. Also, I really hope that Nintendo allows a 1st or 3rd party music player / streaming application. I think the Wii U would really benefit from a jukebox style application, but the real reason I bought this machine was for the games...Still, I'm excited about the options it provides and would rather it be an inclusive device in my house rather than a divisive one.
  24. Well, I gots me one. The deluxe version with Ninty-land and SMBU. Pretty sweet. I played for over 4 hours last night. I won't be able to get it online until I get back home Friday. Is there anything I should be looking out for? I've heard about the update issue, so I'll be careful with that. But, are there any features that I want to take note of? I want to get the most out of the console. Also, the lady of the house is a tv nut. Are the services like Hulu pretty good? I'll register my handle this weekend. Please add me when I do!
