  1. If anyone is looking for a reason to dust their Wii U off while waiting for Mario Kart, I not-so-humbly recommend NES Remix 2. It is balls-to-the-wall awesome.
  2. Woah. I cannot make myself dislike this.
  3. Oh, I see that now. I hadn't had my coffee. Sorry folks.
  4. That would be awesome. It's not like they did it last time they put out an album or anything..... By the way, how does Shadow Man's theme sound and how would you rate the album compared to blue so far?
  5. I bought blue and loved it. I had no idea that red was finally coming out. I can't find blue anywhere so I'm considering buying the red+blue bundle. I wonder if I could pay extra to have the band sign it. Do you think they would do that?
  6. Yeah, that text needs to come on down. We keep it classy around these parts, using a little dash of italics, the occasional bold, and a slightly liberal use of emoticons. When in rome dude.
  7. Does anybody else realize that we have been through the same Nintendo-doomed-no-they're-not-yes-they-are argument like five or six times already, in this thread alone?
  8. Haha. I get you. I played the demo. Pretty cool and I don't know why I haven't bought since it is only like 5 bucks now.
  9. I think it boils down to taste. Modern gaming music tends to be more atmospheric and subtle. Old-school gaming music tends to be pronounced, melodic, and catchy. This is not always the case, but the tendencies are there for anyone with discerning ears. I think it's good, but I still get chills when I dive into the water playing Mega Man 2 in Bubbleman's stage. Nothing current does that for me to that degree. I like older tunes more, but I think a lot of current music is really good (and fitting for the games), and there are modern artists like Jake Kaufman who carry the old-school spirit. Plus David Wise is still kicking ass, so it's not all bad.
  10. I love Mario games too. I'm just saying it wouldn't hurt Nintendo to try and appeal more to other types of gamers, not just the family market and old-school Nintendo fans. No hate brother.
  11. Nintendo need to inject themselves back into the gamer subconscious through pop culture. When I was a kid, there were cartoons like Captain N, Super Mario Bros. Super Show, The Adventures of Mario 3. There was even a cereal. Nintendo need to just go ape-shit on advertising. Make one of those commercials like the 80's where everything is extreme and in your face. And forget the friendly, happy-family advertising. That worked in 2006. Times are dark now. Everyone is pissed off and cynical because the economy and our collective lives have diminished in quality. They don't want something cute and whimsy. They want their faces rocked off. They want bang for the buck, and I think the Wii U has that. They just need to let people know. Nintendo could turn this ship around so fast that it's ridiculous. Bring in some RPG's. Localize Dragon Quest 10. Take Star Fox off the back-burner. There's a few million more units right there. And frikking bring back Nintendo Power, guys. Oh, and don't lie low on E3. Oh and please advertise Bayonetta 2. It's time to dispel the belief that Nintendo only makes kiddy consoles. I know it's going to sound sexist, but show that woman in some closeups and make a bundle. BAM. There's your chest-beating, 16-year-old doritos crowd right there. Hyrule Warriors? Good idea Nintendo. That one will sell. I'm buying that one on day one. Ninty have everything they need to remain a major tour de force in console gaming. Either they just don't know it or they're holding back to E3, which isn't to say that I'm not exited about the 2014 lineup so far. There. Just figured I would bring some optimism into this sad little thread.
  12. Yep. These are the true tests I believe. If the Wii U can't gain traction after this, then I consider the console in truly bad shape. I don't think that will be the case though- the last Mario Kart on Wii moved millions. Also, Nintendo have tons of lapsed fans just waiting on their favorite franchise to emerge. All the company have to do is go "WHAM" and announce a Starfox trailer, and just like that, the console will probably have a good kick in sales. Also, I can't wait until Bayonetta 2 is released, just to hear the whining. I know that the original wasn't a huge seller, but after all the Ninten-doom, I'm looking foward to "*&^! Why can't they just release this in my console. Whaaaaaaa." I know this sounds fanboyish, and perhaps it is. I actually want all consoles to succeed. I believe diversity = healthy market, I'm just sick of all the Nintendo hate. It's getting absolutely stupid at this point and is starting to sound like a broken record.
  13. I suppose that includes when the NES launched into the market with the technically inferior Atari 5200? Or when the SNES launched and outsold the Sega Genesis, which to be fair, was also technically inferior to the NEO GEO, and they both outsold that console? You can hate if you want, but at least be accurate. All I was saying is that this Nintendo-is-dead thing has been going on for ages. I'm not denying that the Wii U isn't having issues. That would be like sticking my head in the sand, but it's pretty obvious that various sites and "news" sources around the web are jumping to conclusions for clickbait over the premise that Nintendo is going under. Whatever sells, and right now, it's doom. Sony took the hit last gen. Now Nintendo is the media's punching bag.
  14. Ninten-DOOMED people. Mario Galaxy 3 on PS4 this Christmas!
  15. PS3: 3d Dot Game Heroes, Dead or Alive 5, Mortal Kombat, Double Dragon Neon Xbox 360: Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Marvel VS Capcom 3 Wii U: Mighty Switch Force 1 and 2, Trine 2 DC, Super Mario 3d World, New Super Mario Bros U, Earthbound, Wind Waker HD, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition, Bit Trip Runner 2, Nintendoland, DnD Chronicles of Mystara Wii: La Mulana, Punch Out, SSB Brawl (still brawlin'), DKC Returns, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Cave Story (for like the millionth time). Sega Genesis: Shining Force 1 and 2, Alien Storm, the first four Sonic games (a summertime tradition), Streets of Rage 2 and 3, Phantasy Star 2 and 4, Super Fantasy Zone SNES: Ninja Warriors, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Actraiser, Contra 3, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Super Double Dragon, Turtles in Time NES: The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3, Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu, Punch Out, Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, Street Fighter 2010, Legacy of The Wizard, Tetris, Contra, Mega Man 1-3, and too many to really name here. Oh...and lots of Neo Geo fighters, like World Heroes Perfect and Breakers Revenge. Good stuff.
  16. Oh no. At the beginning, I said that I would just stick to Toad and Mario, but then I started having to use the other two, and finally, the secret character, in some stages. I have had to go back to the first level to pick up the Cat suits, and Peach and "secret character" have made some extreme stages much more tolerable. I'm still determined to get all the stars, stamps and goals, so I'm not a complete chicken. Toad is still my favorite, at least before the final stages where playing with him becomes a handicap.
  17. Level Castle-7 (aka 8-7) is hard as hell. I'm talking Lost Levels hard. Be prepared if you want to get all the stars and stamps. Apparently there are a ton more levels after this one, so I can only imagine. I'm not complaining though. Bring it on, Nintendo. Still, I think the developers at that company got tired of hearing how Nintendo games have become too easy and decided to up the difficulty in their games. If this game is a sign of things to come from Nintendo, then I am absolutely stoked. Mario has come and proved himself on Wii U. Time to let Fox, Samus, DK, Little Mac and the rest of the crew shine.
  18. But, oddly enough, if you go to the Nintendo e-shop, and you look up latest trailers, go to the Mario Kart 8 trailer, it shows the portion with Kirby and Rosalina on rainbow road. I mean, if anybody is being ambiguous, then it's Nintendo and their trailers. This is specifically on the MK8 trailer video, on their eshop thing. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but um...they're kinda putting it out there.
  19. Hyrule Warriors, a Zelda X Dynasty Warriors crossover has been announced (not the next main Zelda game, as Iwata states, just a crossover. Plus NES remix, Dr. Luigi, Rosalina in Brawl, and what looks like to be (but not for certain) both Rosalina and Kirby in Mario Kart 8. link to the whole Nintendo direct:
  20. Cranky Kong for Brawl! I like how DK can pair with all the others. I think it's pretty cool, although I was really hoping to see something from Star Fox. I think the Wii U is absolutely perfect for the Star Fox series. Anyway, that's just my inner fanboy talking. I liked the interview and I really think that Reggie was hinting at something for Metroid. I mean, c'mon. He's wearing a Metroid pin to an interview featuring a game by Retro Studios....so subtle and coy.
  21. The game looks amazing. I'm supposed to be getting it for Christmas and I want to play it so bad right now. It's like being 10 years old waiting to play Super Mario World. Also, a lot of sites and media outlets have reversed their stance on the Wii U this season. CNET, Destructoid and a lot of others. Personally, with my PS3 and Wii U side-by-side, I haven't been this happy of a gamer since....a long time, and next year is going to be awesome for Wii U owners.
  22. This one was working by the time of my post: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNjM0OTY5MjEy.html
  23. I really want to try the new wii sports bowling and tennis, but I'm thinking of waiting until the whole package comes out. I prefer disc games and am almost positive the disc will come out after all sections are released, must like windwaker hd and ducktales remastered. I'm glad that they included online play. Online wii bowling sounds awesome.
  24. Nevermind, ignore my post. Just leave it here and I'll say that the PS4 is a good-looking console, and that the experience that both Wii U and PS4 are offering are completely different, so I think anyone who has the money would do well to partake in both consoles. I was going to hark on PS4's online fee, but 50 dollars a year isn't that bad.
  25. Ah you beat me to it. I've watched the trailer three times already. I haven't been this excited for a Mario game in a very long time. I'm glad that they're offering so many suits and power-ups this time around. Not just fire and tanooki, but those plus boomerang brother, doubles a la Ninja Gaiden 2, and a cat suit. This game looks like everything I love about the different Mario games rolled up into one game. It's good to see that others are reacting positively as well. Almost all of the initial impressions that I've read have been very positive. Also, my girlfriend rented Game and Wario for me - I think the game was getting mixed reviews because it is so difficult. It's the hardest mini-game / party-game that I have ever played, and requires quite a bit of skill to beat. I highly recommend the game - I loved the Wario Ware on Wii, and after actually sitting down and spending some time with the new game, I think it is a great follow-up. I have yet to see another Wii U game use the gamepad as extensively as this one.
