  1. Hi there. I would like to share some of my music. I know that OCR is full of lots of talented people. Musically, I have mostly performed "traditional", non-electronic instruments. But in the past year, I have composed electronic music under the moniker of "Neon Shark." I would like to hear your opinions, good or bad, or in between. https://www.facebook.com/neonsharkband/
  2. She is an amazing front-person. One of metal's greatest vocalists today, if you ask me.
  3. I love the new Powerwolf album. I didn't think they could keep up their momentum after the last album being so good, but the new stuff just crushes. Cheers.
  4. Fear Factory's new album, Genexus, is great, if you're into the more "brutal" side of metal. Mastodon is kind of a "stoner-metal" band, and I highly recommend them as well. If you're looking for plain fun, and listen to metal simply for the joy of headbanging and freedom, I highly recommend Alestorm. They sing about pirates and are mostly nautical in lyrical structure. If you like gothic power metal, then I recommend Powerwolf. They are really heavy and catchy, with a Catholic-church theme going on. I also recommend Battle Beast, who have transcended from more traditional metal to a more 80's-glam style. They still rock hard though. And I do not believe that there is a such thing as too much Fear Factory.
  5. No arcade mode. I can't confirm it without playing it myself, but it just screams "beta" to me.
  6. I can't remix for shit, but I'd like to post a link to the official live-recorded soundtrack for Double Dragon 2. It's very cheesy, but some of the tracks are really brilliant and go farther than they did on consoles and the arcade. "Advancing Towards Sunset" is a good example. I would love to see what some of you could do with this, and anyway I am super-excited that OCR is finally trying to give the give the DD series some respect.
  7. It is well worth the investment. I read some reviews about how it is "quenching the thirst for F-Zero fans", and being an F-Zero fan since having the original SNES game, I must say that it's really the best thing fans of that series and of futuristic racers can get right now. The game's file size is only slightly over half a gigabyte, yet it looks and plays more like a full 60 dollar game than a budget indie title. The graphics are stellar, and the game-play is very similar to F-Zero although the boosts are done through a switching mechanic much like Ikaruga's (the Gamecube's most celebrated space shooter). The music is also awesome. There are lots of great tracks, and I personally like the music more than any F-Zero game excluding the first one. It's also hard as hell. Placing first on even the standard league is very difficult, and the speed is absolutely insane. I played locally with a friend the other day and he was like "holy shit this is intense". The level of polish in NEO is absolutely ridiculous for a budget title.
  8. I was freaking blown away by this movie today. I loved how it was much more gory and graphic than the previous movies. That scene where it shows a couple of planets being nuked by the First Order's death ray were especially over the top. Also, I loved Rey and Finn. I'm just wondering how those two characters will develop. Rey is obviously more powerful than Finn at this point, and can even wield the lightsaber like a pro, and use the force. I love Rey, but I also want to see how powerful Finn comes. Will he be the one to wield the saber in the next run? It seems to me that Rey is more at home with her staff, but she did not mess around with the saber either.
  9. Can't we just all agree that this is a great time for old-school throwback indie games? About 70 percent or more of the modern games I play now are indie-developed. Galaxy Trail, Wayforward, Shin'en and a lot of other developers have been making kickass stuff and filling in the gaps in the souls of old-school gamers who need new adventures to embark on. Also, speaking if premium-tier indie games - If anybody has a Wii U and/or likes F-Zero, then download Fast Racing Neo right now. It is freaking awesome.
  10. Freedom Planet is a damn good game. I've never played Undertale, but it looks like a completely different game. Freedom Planet is an old-school Sega-style throwback platformer, and Undertale appears to be a twisted 8-bit-style RPG. Both games have modern twists to them, but I can see why there is no need for comparison between the two. Even comparing Freedom Planet to something like Shovel Knight or Shantae makes no sense as they all play very differently from one another. But they are all worth playing for old-school game fans. And now, thanks to this thread, I may have to give Undertale a try because it looks awesome.
  11. Here's one of my recent gaming videos, a playthrough of Splatterhouse. Boy-voice alert. Anyway, enjoy.
  12. You're probably right. I get a bit out there sometimes. *face-palms self, asks ocr community to return to topic*
  13. That really sucks. Have you tried contacting Nintendo for a replacement disc? I'm not sure if they would or not, but it's worth a shot.

    Super Mario Maker

Nice one. I nearly died but somehow cleared it my first try, but it wasn't easy. Here's one of my mine, a short little kuribo shoe stomp-fest that some people seem to like: CE05-0000-0062-4FE5.

    Super Mario Maker

Speaking of Super Mario Bros. 2 characters, I would love to have a level editor for that game. I can't complain though, because I see that the physics were way different for that game and many argue that it isn't even part of "canon". I feel overall that the game is well worth the value. Few games have made me smile in the past few years like this one. Now realistically speaking, I wouldn't mind the addition of slopes. I always loved sliding in Mario games, just knocking out some goombas and building momentum. Some different backgrounds would be nice as well. Nintendo has been really cool about patching their games and adding in new content. They showed this with Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. Wii U, I don't think new content is out of the question.
  16. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/08/pokemon_brawler_pokken_tournament_coming_to_wii_u_early_next_year The Wii U is getting that Pokemon/Tekken crossover fighting game next year. I'm not a huge Pokemon fan as I was already getting a bit old when I heard about it, but I know there are lots of hardcore fans on here, and it looks like a lot of fun regardless.
  17. http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/nintendo-president-satoru-iwata-dies-55-n390901 No. No. Nope. God bless.
  18. Not you! Just people whose posts' I've read on various sites on line. Lots of angry fans expressing disappointment. I myself will be disappointed if there isn't a well fleshed-out online mode. That's my main problem with Nintendo lately. I love them, but they keep omitting online from games that need it, like Super Mario 3D World. It's still awesome, but it could've been so much better. Leaving it out of StarFox Zero would drive me up the wall. Of course I'm still going to buy it and probably play it to death.
  19. I don't understand all of the negativity either. There is a lot of hate going towards Nintendo and especially Star Fox, mostly in regards to the graphic style. They're no Mario Kart 8 graphics, but I think they were trying to pay tribute to the first two games. I think this video shows more of how the gameplay actually works a little better than others: I do hope that there is some online co-op and versus. If they don't include that, then I will be disappointed. Also, the lack of voice chat in games like Splatoon is a bit lame. I hope the big N can start opening up voice chat for their games, especially for Star Fox Zero. Still, I am excited for this game. It looks really cool to me. Edit: Judging from this game and other Nintendo-published games at E3, and fan reactions, it looks like the company is caught in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. If they make their games too much like the originals, people complain about lack of innovation. If they make their games too different, say different graphic style or varied gameplay, people will complain about it being too different and just ask for a remake, say Starfox 64 HD. Just an observation of mine, not intended to offend, but I had to put it out there.
  20. So, Ryu and the rest of the crazy Smash DLC. And now Earthbound Beginnings. Yes, the first official English translation of Mother / Earthbound Zero. I'm used to seeing Nintendo announce future games. Now they're just like "Hey ya'll. You can download this stuff right now." OMG I don't know what to do. They haven't even shown us Star Fox yet. I am excite. Who else is excite?
  21. OMG. Roy is very cool. Definitely different from the other sword-wielding characters. Lucas seems cool, but mostly got him for my friends to play with. Ryu is awesome. Easy to control, tons of moves, and he's very effective. So awesome.
  22. Both . That's amazing. That game is mega-difficult on hard mode. I love that game so much. It's probably my favorite Wii game and my favorite "recent" RPG sans maybe Dragon Quest VIII. I am hoping for a Wii U release because my buddy has not returned that game and if he doesn't soon then I'm going to have a fit.
  23. I haven't seen it yet, but I really enjoyed Maddox' review of it. I will definitely go see soon. http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=mad_max_hell_yeah
  24. I'm sorry but I can't get behind this one. I remember watching this show with my cousins when I was little and it wasn't one of my favorites, but I remember the antagonists being "The Misfits" (not to be confused with the great horror-punk band The Misfits), and the music being very eighties pop-rock. I think at least they could've stuck truer to the material. I think fans will be disappointed. Sorry for being a hater and judging the book by it's cover, but ewww...sorry.
  25. Fire Emblem Awakening. It's a steamy soap-opera in a strategy game's clothing, and very addictive.
