  1. Except in the off-chance your PS/2 keyboard is unplugged, plugging it back in could damage the motherboard (this applies to PS/2 mice as well), and you'll have to restart anyways for the system to re-recognize the device.
  2. There are only three CTF maps in the rotation. I demand equal representation.
  3. Several of their tracks in Ultra Beatdown are like this. Adds some variation to AudioSurfing the tracks when they're not completely downhill.
  4. Yeah, I'd think by 2050, we'd have wearable photovoltaic clothing as the norm, and whatever electrical devices we'd rely on at that time would be powered by a combination of sources, including said clothing. Heck, by 2050, those electrical devices could very well be integrated into our clothing, if not our bodies.
  5. Play the map for five minutes and either you'll get it and remember it for life, or you couldn't find your ass with a map and a compass.
  6. "Wireless power" is nothing new. Power can be transmitted long distances, assuming direct line of sight, via microwaves.
  7. I've seen maps download compressed as .bz2 files, they don't take so long.
  8. So, any assholes I've banned want to bitch about it? My ego could always use a boost. (Banned two people today, one for being an abusive douchebag and the other for sticky spawncamping, intentionally, not incidentally. Both proceeded to justify the bans by connect-flooding the server afterwards (spamming console with retry attempts.)) Also 40MB uncompressed, but Valve updates GCFs (game cache files) which store everything compressed, so it should be a lot less. Binary space partitioned maps compress very well.
  9. Just go to a noob server, or any 24/7 2fort instant respawn server. 98% of the people on those servers are ultra-horrible at the game.
  10. Casting my vote for giving dustbowl equal time with the other maps, instead of every other map change being fucking dustbowl.
  11. The thing about mach4 is it's too small for typical fully-loaded pubs. It's ideal for match play, where you're typically looking at between 5 and 9 players per team, usually 6 or 8.
  12. I'd run the memtest anyways just to rule it out.
  13. That I'd rather not give out cuz it hails from way back when a Steam login name had to be an email address.
  14. The only problem with warpath is the instant respawn. Warpath matches usually end up in stalemates, or very close to it, with each round lasting well over half an hour. Four-hour matches on warpath aren't unheard of.
  15. The problem is, it's not tied to what the client sees. The higher your interpolation settings are, the greater the discrepancy between what you see and what you get. Like firing rockets, for example. If your cl_interp and cl_interp_ratio are left at their defaults, then there's a noticeable delay between clicking the fire button and actually firing the rocket. Set both to 0.1 and try it.
  16. When was the last time you Mac lovers bought a Mac specifically for gaming? This is why Macs "outlast" PCs.
  17. Before I bought slot blowers for my 8800GT's, both of them would routinely idle at 72C and hit 85C on full load. That's "normal."
  18. That's also why soldiers work very well for flag and cp defense. Just fire at the flag/point and you're bound to hit somebody.
  19. Sign of the times. RAM dropped in price because RAM manufacturers were expecting a massive migration to Vista, which didn't pan out, so there isn't a great demand for all that memory. 2GB is about all anyone really wants to run, which is stupid. The memory's dirt cheap and people seem to think that it only makes sense to buy it when it's "needed," except that when it's needed, the price is going to go back up into "expensive as fuck" territory where it was before demand. That's why I'm running 8GB. Even if I have little use for it outside of a 5.3GB disk cache (SuperFetch FTW!), it's dirt cheap and my system can handle it, so why not? Right now what isn't dirt cheap is 4GB DDR2 sticks and that's because most boards only support 8GB max, and with four slots available, it's far easier to pull that off with 4 2GB sticks. My board supports 16GB though, and if I could afford 4 4GB sticks, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. What really irks me about this sort of complaint is the notion that those who bitch about Vista being a "RAM hog" are unwilling to upgrade their memory anyways. I mean, what's the point of complaining if you have no intention of upgrading anyways? Crysis in and of itself is bullshit. The only thing that can run it at Very High is the GeForce GTX 280, and for that you need TWO of them in SLI. Have fun spending $1200+ on a game that's all eye candy and nothing else.
  20. The legacy of the CheaterStrike generation, they never played Quake, probably never played UT either, so they're getting the two mixed up. The soundbytes are meh. I'm neither for nor against them.
  21. "Meh." Like I'd care. You can change the icon size, ya know. And let's stop with the "copying OS X" crap already. We all know that Apple ripped off Xerox with the GUI in the first place and that's why their lawsuit against MS (for supposedly ripping them off) was thrown out of court.
