LulzSec has broken into ONE site with SQL injection (or so they claim anyways) and as far as I know, only the PSN had passwords in plain text. Where do you draw the line exactly regarding what is sufficient and insufficient security ? How can you be sure that Nintendo, Epic, Bethesda and Codemasters had insufficient security ? You are claiming that only because LulzSec has broken into their sites, that their security is horrible but how do you know ? And how do you know LulzSec are not extremely good or determined at hacking stuff ? My main point here is this: who are you, Crowbar Man, to judge what security is good and what is not ? See the difference here is that you are making a lot of assumptions and we are not. What we DO know however is that entering these sites and compromising the information they contain is criminal and wrong. Also, excellent security comes at the price of convenience and cost. Sure, we could all have personal VPN-like tokens like they use in private networks, but it would be more costly and, quite frankly, a hassle. If these game servers had to have as much security as the Pentagon (which was hacked several times), who knows how costly they would get.

I am really at a loss here... So if someone invented a new type of key that could open any lock it would be OK for people to use it to break into other people's homes just to show them that their security is not up to date ? If I break a window to get into a store at night but I don't steal anything I am actually a good guy because I'm showing them that they should have had countermeasures for that ? Also correct me if I'm wrong but didn't those group made personal information about users accessible through IRC and such ? It's not exactly harmless fun. I really can't understand how people can defend these criminals. Their intention are not really important, they are stealing private information and trespassing on digital property.

If they are going to get hacked eventually, why does the fact that they've been hacked for the 'lulz' prevent them from being hacked by thieves down the line ? If, like you are saying, they are gonna get hacked anyways, wouldn't the preferable way by being hacked as seldom as possible ?

I don't know the details of the hack, but you might misunderstand the level of technical skill required to pull this off. More often than not it is done by social engineering or by really simple methods like guessing passwords or SQL injection.

There is a difference between caring the situation because you are personally affected by it and raging at Sony just because. I don't wanna put words in his mouth, but I think zircon aimed that comment more at people who spout wide generalizations like 'Sony deserved it', 'Sony should give us $6000 dollars', 'Sony lied to its customers', 'Sony cannot protect their shit'. Those accusations simply sound childish and since they are the most vocal, they make video game fans look bad in general. Personally, I just find it irritating that those thieves would get support from people just because they justify their criminal attention-grabbing activities by saying they do it in the name of freedom of speech, freedom of information, etc. If anything, we should all be pissed at these thieves and not whatever company they decide to attack.

I don't think a character's importance has anything to do on whether or not they will come back. There are many characters that are not so important to the story now like if you don't consider their personal vendettas. Also Ivy has been confirmed to be coming back EDIT: So far the confirmed character roster is : Patroklos Pyrrha Siegfried Nightmare (although we don't know in which form) Mitsurugi Ivy In the Japanese page it also says that Patroklos' parents are dead (Sophitia because of EVIL (?) and Rothion of sickness). In the demo gameplay video we also heard that Pyrrha was not aware that she had a younger brother because she had been kidnapped by Tira when she was a baby.

Which gets kinda irritating when they get support from a lot of people because they claim to do this in the interest of the little guy.

I personally believe they deserve it. Sometimes it is important to remind people that making games is NOT OK.

Well honestly we have no idea yet. Patroklos does not look like he would replace Cassandra, but I base that on his stance in the Pyrrha demo video alone, so it's a wild guess. I think we will have more info on the official Soul Calibur presentation at 14h00 PDT.

Shit looks slick ! This is really exciting and I hope to be able to play it with some OCR folks in 2012. Also about Pyrrha having the same moves as Sophitia, it could mean anything. Sophitia might not come back and Pyrrha might be her replacement. Sophitia might come back and it the final version Pyrrha might have a completely different moveset than what we've seen in this demo.

Yeah I kinda wanted to submit Holy Judgement, but compressing it would have made the already lacking production value unbearable.

yeah and even if you have a PSN account for the same country, you can download 2 other games on it as well
