  1. Well, you should be able to select *none* under the channel type. Like, when you go to the big menu that says all the different effects to apply, the top one is *none* - select that. No, not that. I mean, like, I accidently linked my kick drum generator and strings into the same fx track, but I just wanted the strings. How do I unlink the kick drum from that fx track? That's cause you're mixing through the master track. Put all the crap that you've got in there under some of the other FX channels (1-64) NOT the 'master' track. then you can route them wherever you want through that 'out' menu. Huh? What do you mean 'put crap under fx channels'? I already have some generators routed through fx tracks, but the only choice for output of fx tracks is to the master. I im'd you, but you were away. EDIT: Many thanks to zircon, whom I pestered for the answer. Thanks to those who tried, heh. Turns out all I needed to do was change the fx track in the channel settings window. And I'm guessing I need the producer edition to route fx tracks thru other fx tracks. But now I can be on my merry little way. Edit part deux: I never used so many smilies.
  2. For the most part this is pretty good, very moody. But what...is...with...that...hiss?!?! Was it intentionally put in there? Why? (Near) constant whitenoise has never been a good thing in my book...
  3. Alright, I (finally!) just got FLStudio. Everything's gone pretty smooth so far, but I've hit a surprisingly simple snag. How do I remove a channel from an fx track. I can link them with the mixer window menu, but I can't "unlink" any channels. W. T. F? Also, how do I route an fx track to another fx track? All of the FX tracks are grayed out in the "out" menu at the bottom of the mixer. Sorry if this has been answered before, or is stupid simple. But I looked twice in the fruity manual and searched the forums but found nothing.
  4. Damn, LOVE the mood that military snare sets...it seems familiar, somehow, nostalgic...though I never played the game as a kid. Good mix overall, wonderfully executed, but I wish it were a little more dynamic (for example, the break at 2:35 felt overdue by the time it arrived and was a little short-lived). The last minute and a half doesn't introduce anything new or exciting, causing the song to just sorta fizzle out. I really enjoy the first 1:32 of the song (9/10), but from then on I'm just not feelin' it (6/10).
  5. Very slick guitar playing. Me gusta mucho. This mix definitely has a strong 'deth rock vibe, as Zyko points out. However, I don't know how strong the source material is here. There's nothing TOO catchy about the song; the focus is more on the performance and production here, rather than being something super-hummable. Which is fine, considering the genre. Anyways...that is a REALLY cool ending. I likey. 8.4/10
  6. Only 7 reviews? Sheesh...I think I'll chime in. Great song here, it really is one of the most original takes on the overworld theme EVER, and its epic sound fits with the Zelda theme well. Stereo sound would have been nice--would have spiced things up a *little* more--but its still entirely enjoyable without it. This song deserves more recognition. Lovely stuff. 9/10
  7. Amazing stuff here--very moody and relaxing. This'll be a good song to loop while I do my homework. Everything sounds so natural...just awesome shtuff going on. I think I'll go bone up on music theory now, so I can be more like Israfel, of course..
  8. Yeah, it's funky I guess. But the leads, guitars, etc. sound too distant, they need to brought forward in the mix. Also, there's not a whole lot going on: very repetitive, uninteresting melodies. Nothing really reaches out an' pulls you in. Some of the guitar work is kinda cool, but not enough to hold the mix afloat. Not Zyko's best work. 6.5/10
  9. An AMAZING piece, but one thing really bothers me. At 2:20 the slow fade out suddenly cuts off--it sounds completely unnatural and out of place. A longer fade, or simply no fade at all would have been a better transition, in my opinion. And the reverb/sustain is nice...sounds real. So there.
  10. Wow, I LOVE that opening synth. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, reminding me of back when I used to mess around with my sister's old Korg. Moving all them knobs and sliders whose purpose I had no clue about. Great mix overall. I think a few well placed pitchbends on the lead would have really spiced it up a bit. Also, those pads, choirs, voices, or whatever those eerie things are in the background in the beginning are fricking amazing!!! VERY moody. Drawbacks: a little repetitive, things also sound a little messy during the orchestral-stlyle breaks--I think it could have been mixed a little better. Maybe too much reverb? The orchestral parts are also rather boring, especially when compared to the rest of the song. This remix is damn good, but I think it has (or had) potential to be damn, frickin, unbelievably incredible if tweaked a bit.
  11. No, an LFO does not modulate lower frequency sounds, or any sounds based on frequency. Ack. It means it oscillates at low frequencies, thereby useful in automating filter sweeps and stuff, as I described. So assign some LFO's to the cutoff, resonance and whatnot of a filter, play around with it a bit, and you get an automated version of the wah you just described.
  12. I hope its not too late, but I just submitted my audition. (PM, DarkeSword ). *Prays* Arghhhhh....I wanted 33/34. Oh well, there's plenty of other wonderful tracks to choose from. Anyways, make it beautiful. I LOVE that track.
  13. A wah is basically an automated filter sweep, so you could just use a filter with an lfo or two right? I'm not 100% sure, I don't have a ton of knowledge there.
  14. Wow. Very energetic. Its not too complex or fancy with the composition, but the presentation is just killer. I just have to listen to it several times every time I open it up. THAT imo is a better song than the standard 4-5 minute ones that just seem to drag on a bit, that you rarely listen to more than once at a time. 9/10
  15. I don't see what the big deal is about the intro, here. For one, it's awesome. Two, it is from the original song. Three...well, it's just frickin' awesome. It's definitely my favorite part of the song. I'd give it a 9/10 and the rest a 7/10. The song does have some awesome stereo effects with headphones, but that part around 2:15 is ugly. Makes me sick. Overall: Good mix, great intro.
  16. Wow. Definitely one of my 3 fave OCRemixes. Everything is masterfully crafted, from the dynamic, flowing piano to the rolling timpani hits (which add a lot of emotion to the mix), and the soft yet powerful bassline. And I like the drums; they remind me of the original song's percussion and they add some 'beat' to the song while maintaining its soft, elegant mood. To be honest, I didn't truly enjoy this song until I actually sat down and listened carefully. Then I noticed how everything flows together and how the piano lines are sort of blended and mixed around and what not. Now sometimes I'll listen to it four or five times in a row. It's that freaking good. I have also tried to remix this song, but the result wasn't quite this good. In fact, it doesn't even come close. However, I have been inspired to do my damndest on improving it, and to work harder on all of my future projects. Thank you The Wingless, you're my hero.
