Excellent production, arrangement--altogether a very solid track. If I had to give one gripe, it's that I didn't find the material to be too recognizable. I wish some of the themes stood out a bit more. Other than that, it's good, jazzy, wholesome, fun.

Azureye--I contacted Kevin a while back and got sheet music and a midi of the song. I can't read sheet music all that well, so I can't remember if I kept it or not (computer out of comission right now), but I have the midi on my keyboard. I can upload it for ya soon or you can just contact Kevin and get the sheet music--he's a nice enough guy! I still haven't learned the whole song either. It's crazy hard to play (for me).

Nice work, everyone! I love (nearly...) everything I've listened to so far. DS, I love what you did with Aviator Soul--the original was absolutely beautiful, my fave song from the game, and your interpretation makes it even more...magical. It's awesome. Very, very, epic feeling to it.

I don't feel like doing any deep analysis of this song (I'd rather just listen to it!), but I'll just say this: it's frickin' awesome. Super catchy, cheesy, sweetness.

One of my fave mixes on the site. Not complex or fancy by any means, just really freaking happy! This is seriously the happiest little tune I've ever heard. Sweet stuff.

This mix has a good feel to it. The mood is set well, however I think there is much room for improvement. More elaborate instrumentation and execution would have made this an amazing piece. As of now, it's a great start. Gah, those notes at 1:38! Were you drunk? Sometimes dissonance can be quite dramatic, but this just screeches everything to a halt, and makes you go W.T.F. I love the mood, ya got talent, dude. Keep at it.

I prefer my electronic music a bit more melodic so to speak, like Tefnek/Zircon's TMNT mix. Kinda what Gray was saying, the arrangement is a little simple, but what it lacks there, this mix makes up with its energy and phatty production. Kewl stuff.

This is AMAZING stuff. I'm not familiar with the original, so I can't speak from that respect (it's 'remix' status), but on it's own, this is a very enjoyable piece. Very emotive, inspiring, and original. I <3 the rhythm work here, with the triplets in the opening and everything--very unique and frickin' awesome. As for the 'climax' (or lack of one, as people have complained), I feel like this song is more of an adventure, with all the variations bringing a new experience to the table, and if any section was outright blaring and in your face, it would dominate the other sections. Rather I like the rise and fall between the section--keeps it spicy. I've had this on repeat for about a half an hour now, and it's only getting better. This is actually the first GrayLightning song I've really listened to, and I'm thoroughly impressed. I'm gonna have to go listen to all of them now. GL, you have a new fan!

This remix is a BORE. I kept wondering when it would actually start, but it never got going. And I'm not feeling the 'perfect interval' djp describes, though I'm familiar with the feeling. The "oh-eh, oh-eh" vocals sound like crap too. It's not all bad--I can feel the mood the mix was going for (though it didn't quite reach it for me), and the production sounds great. Just lacks energy, dynamic. 5/10

I'm sorry to say this Zircon, but other than your collab with Tefnek, not much of your work has really caught my attention....until now. The production on this track is rock solid. Very clean, slick relationship between the orchestral and electronic elements. From the opening my interest was piqued, and when the beat (quickly) came in my head went into full bobbin' mode. If I had one gripe, I think the instrumentation/arrangement could have been a little more...dramatic. I can't quite find the words, but the mood didn't really change up much--could've been more dynamic, I guess. Still an excellent piece though. Synthwork/production is beautiful. 8/10 Edit: Silly grammar.

Disco Dan, you're incredible. I wish you were more active in the community still... Anyways, this mix is incredible. I was hooked within about 2 seconds of my first listen. That synth/sample just pulls me right in. The overall flavor reminds me of late 80's or early 90's television for some reason, though I can't think of anything specifically. But I love it. Then that phat little beat kicks in, and the song settles into a nice, mellow groove for the rest of the way. I can't say enough good things about this mix. 9/10

For the MIDI Q'S: You must have an instruments assigned to tracks where you import midi data. Try opening the piano roll for a track, going to file->import midi blah blah-> then just pick a single track from a midi song if you still have problems. I have my own question however (nothing to do with midi!): I'm using a tempo-based delay (3 steps), and at the end of my song I have a tempo change. This produces undesirable results; each time the bpm is changed the delay cuts off and sounds really choppy. Anyone know how to change the tempo and keep a smooth tempo-based delay?

Simply gorgeous--I have nothing negative to say about this piece. This song makes me want to cry and smile and spray my shorts all in two minutes. As Orkybash said over 2 years ago, I think the length here works. It sets a mood and gets its message across--demanding 'more development' is asking for a different song. And if it were simply longer, without additional material/development, it would drag on too long, and lose some of its impact. One of the best (and most underrated) OCR songs there is....10/10.

You've never listened to early Emperor have you? Their vocals are quietly in the back though still very raspy and shierky. Thanks for the tip, I'll avoid 'em.

Incredible. One of my favorite electronic songs to listen to ever, not just on OCR. It never gets dull--not for a second. And everybody loves the chiptune break at 2:40, and rightfully so, but my fave is right after that: from 2:55 to 3:30 kicks more ass than...your mom...or something that kicks lots of ass. The organs at the end seem *slightly* out of place, but they do add a little jazzy, funky flavor for the climax. The synth work is very impressive. Grade A. I too am baffled at the seamlessness of this collab. Excellent work all around, guys. 9.9999999999/10 Ah what the hell, 10.-00000000001/10!

Excellent work here...for the most part. The 'minor' complaint the judges had regarding the vocals is not so 'minor'. The vocals are ridiculously quiet. Sure, metal puts more focus on the thrashing guitars and what have you, but I've NEVER heard a metal song where the vocals are this low. It just doesn't happen. Can't hardly tell he's there half the time. Sad thing is, it would've taken two seconds to fix it. This mix came so close to being incredible, but this one little thing is holding it back. *sigh*

I listen to most the new songs on OCR like the night they're posted. UNFORTUNATELY, this one slipped by, and I only listened to this because of its mention in the mp3.com interview with DJP. Anyways...OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. Simply amazing. The beginning sounded a little generic to me at first; I almost skipped over the song thinking, "yawn, another stereotyped rock remix". Then the vocals came in and I realized this one was different. The progression, vocals, production, everything is proffessional (or close enough!). I love the alt rock sound of bands like Foo Fighters, Gin Blossoms, etc., and this song is very reminiscent of that style. I give it a 10/10. Here's to hoping for more remixes from JD.
