  1. Fuck... Anyone know what to do when you have that little jousting match with the orc-thing on the boar? I've died three times to the guy (I went into it with only two hearts, and each time I continue, I still only have two, so dying happens very quickly. I only get a few shots at it before I get the "game over" screen again).

It's obvious that you have to slash at him when he passes, but I haven't managed to land a hit on him yet.

  2. According to some reviews, it seems that the Wiimote might actually be a hinderance at some spots and apparently it doesn't allow the finesse that one expects out of a motion sensing controller. And for a Wii to basically play an enhanced Gamecube graphics on it, I would think it would be easier to critique, whether it's fair or not.

I think I'll stick to the Gamecube version.

How easily can you do a spin-attack maneuver in Wind Waker?

I dunno about you, but I could almost never do one without queuing. It was even harder in the Gamecube version of OoT. Aiming for enemies in Wind Waker was also a pain sometimes.. and trying to shoot on horseback in OoT/MM was also very difficult, especially when hunting for Poes.

No offense, but saying that "according to some people the wiimote isn't that great sometimes" is kinda silly. And people's expectations of a motion sensing controller might vary.. just a little bit.

I would try it before I swore off the Wii version, at any rate.

I think it's the whole point that the spin maneuver isn't as easy to pull off. Otherwise it'd be cheap. That's why the designs of the older games were much tighter in that sense. It all corresponded to the movements of the sticks and buttons well. I don't think this is surprising though. Even with the Twilight Princess, I could definitely see Nintendo yet to fully master the new controller.

Another criticism I saw coming a mile away was how apparently the game is pretty easy compared to the likes of Majora's Mask or OoT. It seems that all the new Zeldas have a much easier learning curve. I wish the games were as challenging as LttP once was.

That's a good point. It's possible that they wanted to make certain moves easier to let people get used to the controls. I have heard battles are difficult, not necessarily because of the wiimote, but more because the enemies are just hard - unlike in the other 3D games(at least Wind Waker, my memory of the other two is dimmer).

LttP was challenging? I mean, I was really young at the time I first played it, but it was no more challenging than any other game I played. Although, pretty much the only thing I clearly remember from it was discovering Chris Houlihan's room...

LttP was really tedious, but not quite as challenging as Link's Awakening. HOLY SHIT to Link's Awakening I might say. I still haven't beaten Eagle's tower, prolly cuz I haven't played the game sincee I was young, but that game seemed to me to be the epitome of brain killer.

Amen. Eagle's Tower had some KILLER puzzles. They should bring those back, but I'm sure Nintendo probably regretted making it that hard.

Maybe the first time through, but once you've played it, you can usually work through the game pretty easily.

  3. Whatever happened to youth rioting AGAINST corporate America:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEPdRPxR_i0

And Sony gets their awesome free publicity, and all it cost was people stupidly freezing themselves for a few days, and a riot where people got hurt. You can't tell me that in the Sony offices, they aren't grinning and ringing their hands over this. They knew it would happen somewhere, and it did. And now they have the most "wanted" item in the world right now. And all it cost them was cutting back the number of units to the US. Which will then be made up for when the next batch comes in, and everybody that sees this crap rushes out to get one for themselves.

Shame on Sony for letting it happen, shame on those people for letting it get that bad, and shame on the sheep that will perpetuate it by buying into the whole thing. And some of you wonder why I don't like Sony as a company; it has nothing to do with their comsole, it has to do with how they act.

  4. See, this is why I said , "don't get too far, Fusion, we still might be able to get the old one back." But did anyone listen? Nooooooo. No one ever listens to me.

Yeah, let's use Fusion's space as the website, and maybe some storage space. If he's willing to share it, we might as well use it, right?

  5. Got FFIII today. I really like it. I like the old school FF games a little more than the new ones. I really don't care if it's outdated or whatever, I think it's pretty fun.

Hook me up with your FC!!

    Here is mine:

So, what exactly is wifi used for? Battling your teams ala Golden Sun, item trading, co-op?

  6. Either way, lots of people are going to be paying him for his PS3s. I wonder how long it will be before claims of being ripped off come up.

More importantly, I wonder how Sony will treat him if he sells them to European customers.

  7. Well, I haven't heard back from GAG. Without him, I don't know what we are going to do with the forum. If we don't hear from him by the end of the month, I guess we'll take you up on your offer, Fusion2004. Don't get started just yet, because I don't want you to go through any trouble if we can get the old one back up first.

Jaroban, when you have something ready, PM me a link for that remix. I have to hear what you got going. Backup vocals? Pokemon? I'm a little worried, and a little aroused.

  8. Yeah, that guy from Joystiq is just trolling. Every time he says anything even remotely unflattering to Nintendo, he gets lots of Nintendo fans (and fanboys) commenting on his articles. That way, he gets lots of readers and attention, making his stuff look like they're more popular.

He's like Evilhead, but not as sexy.
