Ikari Ikari is an independent film that has been filming for several months, and is in the final stages of development. It's supposed to be about a world where both ki and mana exist side by side. You can find out more at www.ikari.moonfruit.com I've been working on the soundtrack for a while now, and here's several songs that I've finished for practical purposes - i just need to arrange them for specific scenes in the movie as I'm recieving footage. You can see the whole page at www.soundclick.com/ikari. This is meant to be several different themes that I can use for battles. It's pretty rough, since I've not worked much at all on it. This will eventually (sans opening solo thing) be the credits music for the movie. I've got a singer from school that I'm recorded so that there isn't that crappy vox in the background. I'll post lyrics after I've finished the song. This is the thematic content for Ikari's theme - however, this isn't going to be her theme music. This'll be, instead, probably used for the end of one of the major battles. The choir samples in the background are my girlfriend =) This will be eventually used for the opening scene, which is a narrated movie explaining the world that Ikari takes place in. It's background music, supposedly. This is the theme for Kazuma, one of the 'bad guys' in the film. She's a really strange character, and we really don't learn a whole lot about her, and I tried to show that in the song. This is the theme for Rezo Kie Moe, a mana user and a main character. He's similar to a wizard (like Gandalf, for example) but he's a lot younger. I tried to reflect his somewhat mystical nature in the music, by using the ud, saz, tablas, shakuhachi, and dudy (live recorded dudy, btw). This is the stadium theme. There's a large tournament where a lot of the movie takes place, and they wanted a big, bold, fanfare-type piece for this. This isn't really finished yet, but it's getting there. This is one of the most important songs for the film. During one of the key points of the film, as Ikari finds out more about who she is, this is the music for it. Very powerful emotionally. Thanks for any feedback! I really appreciate it! Feel free to download anything that you want to hear. And, check back often because I'll be updating as often as I can. The next song that'll be here is the music for the trailer (i'll post a link for the movie, too). Thanks again!

21 days, people! -
lets get as many of the wips into the forum that we can, people. and if you're a remixer and i didn't know it, tell me so i can ok you for the wip forum.
-
i also set it so that in order to see the wip forum, you have to be in the 'mixer' subgroup. so, if you're not, you can still see progress without hearing music.
-
oh sure, it works like 12 hours later of course. LAG! EDIT - the forum's all set up. get involved, people! post your updates! and your old pieces, too. since we don't have any records left anymore.
-
http://poke.herograw.org/forum does not work. i get the standard mozilla 'server doesn't work' page.
-
that'd be all good and nice, but when i tried to use the link he gave me it 404'd. suck.

but entirely possible. every song i made up until like 2005 was done by manually entering notes by mouse (with the exception of guitar of course). however i have a keyboard now, and it definitely comes in handy (especially for tracking). i write my classical stuff in Finale 2003, then dump it in. everything else i click in by hand. it's not THAT time consuming, you just need to be detailed to make sure that everything doesn't have the same velocity =) -

since prizm's not able to do it, and i can't find a guitarist to redo his part... if you're a guitarist, i need you. please. it's not a difficult part at all. you just need to be able to listen to what prizm did, and somewhat duplicate it. kinda. thanks. -

as you can see, you couldn't have two bass drums. usually, the second pedal is over by the high-hat. i've never seen a second bass drum that was used at all, really - i've seen one with no head being used as a rack for more toms/cymbals, but that's it. yeah. use your ear. compare a note that IS a half-step higher to one that's been 'adjusted'. now, in reason, you can't change the range of the pitch wheel. FL lets you do that, but not reason. don't sign your posts. your username/sig does that. there's several really good clavinova sf's out there. however, most good piano soundfonts will have that - check out the usual suspects (hammersound, etc). i find that the 'grand piano' thing in the NN-XT bank actually works pretty darn well. it's got so many samples that really allow it to be used like a real piano. this is a great way to get a shitty piano sound. too many mixers do stuff like this, which is why their mixes get rejected constantly. if you're gonna take the time to make a good arrangement, don't use shitty samples. -

i just play it faster. maybe you don't really know what double bass is - it's just two beaters striking the same drum. maybe make the second stroke of each two-group slightly lower in velocity, but i usually just do the rhythm and don't really change anything. you don't even need two samples. just do the right rhythm on the kickdrum sample and you'll be fine. because of the nature of a normal double-bass setup, there's no real difference in each strike at all. -

bump! well, since the 27th or 28th, i haven't seen a single update from anyone. so, here's the next wip due date. DECEMBER 7TH. ONE MONTH FROM TODAY. everyone needs an update between now and then. and sleepy emp needs a wip by then. this is kind of an important WIP date because i'd like to start getting finished tracks in by the time that this rolls around. GT and Kmet's submission, for example, is almost done, and i think that it could be finished by this date. ellywu2's is another that could be done. thanks for all your hard work! -
LA Project is an ongoing project from MARCH of last year. basically, it's the epitome of un-progress. needless to say, i'm in it.
