aeth, are you looking for something to be a ballad, or some really heart-wrenching orchestral thing? cause i've got that whole heart-wrenching thing down pat, and with the instruments available, i might be able to do something... -

OCR01433 - Final Fantasy VI "Canvas of Dreams"
prophetik music replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
seven rejections later... i'm so happy that this project turned out as well as it did. i actually started this project with Geoffery while on vacation, and it just flowed - this project came really easily. if you liked this, check out the rest of my music over at Soundclick. the site is http://www.soundclick.com/theprophetofmephisto - it hasn't been updated in almost a month, but the info is all there. The track that was rejected that djpretzel mentioned(A Star Freezes Ovcer) is there, as well as several others. thanks for listening to our music! -

dude, you were shot? crazy. i knew we had a space for hosting wips, but do we actually have a website, like, with bios on each remixer and more info on the game, the project, etc? if not...does anyone want to do that? -

prophetik music replied to Aetherius's topic in Projects
i was thinking earlier about why we don't have a webspace, and I can't think of a good reason. at least then we could host the wips there in a locked folder, so that at least we can give each other feedback and such. plus, then it'd be easier when we release it - we wouldn't have to pull a fully finished website out of nowhere near the end of the project. heard anything from eonblue about graphics? EDIT: what about sigs? everyone else has one. i know i asked before, but can anyone else on the project throw something together? don't make me go mspain(t) on your sorry arses... -

WEEEELLLLL.... how did it sound? -
the biggest problem with a tuba up an octave is that you don't have the overtones up there that make a euphonium sound so good. it just sounds like a high tuba. it'll take some playing, but it should work.

lol intarweb as for that final collab thing, gimme an email or pm about what you want. i'll be happy to help. -
first off, there are few orchestras that actually use saxes on a regular basis for serious music...because the symphony orchestra was already set up and had music for hundreds of years before the saxophone came around. some pieces, like 'Pictures at an Exhibition', use it, but not many. cause people are stupid and don't realize that the saxophone is the most versatile instrument in the orchestra. if you want classical saxophone sounds, good luck. because of the jazz influence that the saxophone has had on modern culture for approx the last 80 years, classical saxophone gets looked over in general. especially when it comes to samples. either get a recording of the part, of find a jazz sf that doesn't sound that bad. the one on darkesword's site isn't that bad, as long as you don't go too high on the alto, and you don't go too low on the tenor. pm me for more info on ranges and the like. euphonium? well, depends on what you're looking for. if you're looking for a baritone (the two are often mixed up), then just use a trombone. if you're looking for a true euphonium sound...well, here's what i do. I combine a french horn and tbone sound. but i take the edge off of the french horn with a filter and compresson, and the same with the tbone sound. the main idea is that the upper ranges should sound clear as a bell, like a horn, but the lower ranges should sound less like a farty horn and more like a mellow trombone. the middle should be a sort of amalgum. last time i used euphonium, i used the way i did above, and went through and individually velocitized both parts to make it work. took too long. just dont' use a euphonium. takes too long. remember that vibrato is an essential element for both horn and saxophone - especially saxophone. euphonium that's played well has some vibrato, but not a huge amount. saxophone, played well, should have a large amount of vibrato. pm me and i'll send you a sample wow, that's a lot.

aeth suggested something involving the word "facade" - the c having the little thing on the bottom that resembles it having a dump - and i like that. still thinking on it. also, when it comes out, first person besides aeth to catch the references in my piece gets fresh cookies delivered right to their doorstep, by the mailman. -

Facial Jazz. Of course, I'd call it Facial Jizz, but that's my loopyness from OLR. that doesn't work. its classical, man. EDIT AGAIN: what do we have to do to get into 'site projects'? -

Marin's Dream : PRO : none CON : It's too specific, Marin's just a character from the game, although a main one. Furthermore, it's not even Marin's dream. Bubble on a Needle : PRO : Well, it's something unique CON : It doesn't fit the project mood, needle is not a melancholic word. depends on what you use the needle in conjunction with. EDIT: wait, fancy clever names? what the hell do you name a saxophone concerto (aria, if you will) of Face Shrine? -

prophetik music replied to Aetherius's topic in Projects
sweet lord. when you signed onto the project, you implicitly (sp?) agree to the rules that the project coordinator set down. that's just how it is. so, if Aeth doesn't like something that you've got, QUIT YOUR BITCHING. you're just re-enforcing your immature qualities. Aeth didn't like my original strings in my song, so i changed them, and now it sounds better. that wasn't that hard, was it? THIS is what he's trying to prevent. THIS is what you should do. -

Did someone say prog rock? Well then, that someone better call Christian Pacaud or PriZm for this thing! i like PriZm. he's good. wait, what happened to the whole ambient or orchestral thing? i'm done with a chill classical track, so someone better not tell me i coulda tranced this and been done like two weeks earlier. -

for some reason, i can't get gbs files to play, no matter what player i got and no matter where i put it. thats why i requested an mp3 of the file - i know we had them on that aborted site that this project was using, but i don't have the url anymore.
