  1. Part of the reason is that there have been projects organized in the past that didn't quite make it off the ground. I know that there was a Star Fox project that made some progress before it was shot down, as well as the Final Fantasy Tactics piano project. It would seem that mixers don't want to get involved in a project that won't actually be released. That is why "star power" is considered important: people who have been in around the community for a while and have invested themselves into it are considered more reliable. They have spent more time here, they are more familiar with the goings-on of the site, and they are better connected. Thus, the projects that these people organize are more likely to follow through and actually finish. That is not at all to say that this project is doomed to abject failure. I love the game and the source music, and I think it's an interesting approach to a project. But the odds are stacked against it, unfortunately. Best of luck, all of you.
  2. Holy shit. I think I'm actually gonna make a new sig. IT'S BEEN MONTHS. Expect me to post something before the end of the weekend. Alright, cool. Well, I'm a little slow. My weekend was much more..hangover-filled than was anticipated. SOON THOUGH. No worries. Just take your time with it.

  4. Alright, I guess it's time for a sig change. If someone could make an Okami sig for me, I would really appreciate it. I don't want anything too big (don't need to be taking up too much screen space). I would really like something that incorporates an autumn maple leaf setting. Thanks!
  5. I'm also anxiously looking forward to this. But it's feeling like some urban legend right now Barring the fact that nearly 90% of the songs have already been completed, of course.
  6. Also, as far as I can tell, there won't be any progress reports on the project until it is fully completed. Unless I'm mistaken, there will be no new information in this thread regarding the project until the day of its release. If this is the case, there is absolutely no reason to keep bumping this thread. The project will garner enough attention of its own upon release.
  7. Keep it going guys! From what I heard so far, this project will definitely do the soundtrack justice. Good luck!
  8. I was just listening to the original, and comparing it to this song. While the Marc Star didn't radically alter the melody, the change in rhythm and instrumentation give this ReMix a different feel from the original. While the original song had a folksy frontier feel, Marc took a more urban and focused approach. The most notable change is with the percussion, which switched from a tambourine-centered affair to a groovy, energetic beat (+bongos). Definitely changes the mood and flow of the song. Excellent work.
  9. I wonder if people who say such things as this realize how freaking weird it sounds. Sometimes, remixers will skirt the file-size limit on OCR by posting their songs on VGMix.com, which is unfortunately down right now. The other option is to go to the remixer's home page. which you will frequently find at their profile page. In this case, there is no higher bitrate version of this song. The one at Mazedude's site is also 128kbps. You could probably ask him to make a higher bitrate encoding of the song, but don't expect him to give that request a high priority. Now, this song is quite energetic and smooth. The lead synth works really well, and all those vocal shouts really get the body moving. Edit: I just listened to Jeroen Tel's NineOneOne that Mazedude has on the download page for this song on his website. There are definitely elements of Tel's style in Turtle Wave.
  10. Generally, remixers usually put additional content in the ReViews thread for the song, with the intention that people who care would actually read the thread to find what they are looking for. In any case, as I wrote in the last page, zircon posted the instrumental on the second page. http://www.zirconstudios.com/Lover%20Reef%20(Instrumental).mp3
  11. I personally rather enjoyed it. I didn't notice any glaring flaws in the vocal performances. D-Lux's recitation didn't sound quite as lively as in "Da Black Market," but did add to the delicious cheesiness of the song. Pixietricks and shonensamurai's performances were not spot on terrific, but I thought they worked well regardless. I wouldn't call this the greatest song on OCR, but I bet that none of the contributors would say that themselves.
  12. Chrono Symphonic focuses only on Chrono Trigger. Site Projects work on a game by game basis. Someone (or a group of people) come up with an idea for a project, and foster interest and participation by remixers, artists, and fans. In other words, if you want a Chrono Cross project, you should try to organize it yourself.
  13. No one is expected to download both FLAC and mp3 files. In fact, people are usually encouraged to download only one type of file, to save bandwidth. However, by having both files on one torrent, it becomes easier to manage; as Darkesword said, it is more efficient to have one torrent than two parallel ones. I will say that, since I will most likely not be able to download the project until late January, I leave the decision of the release up to the project coordinator.
  14. Wow, you really are putting in a lot of work into making this project sound excellent. Keep up the hard work! Make sure not to overexert yourself. I am looking forward to this.
  15. Welcome back. If you don't think your works are up to the OCR or VGMix snuff, then the fine folks at OverLooked ReMiX would be happy to hear your shit. Their submission guidelines are pretty lax as far as quality is concerned. The thing is...I recorded some of my music from Megaman6 that I played on the guitar and I have an awesome way of adding others and stuff...I mean all this stuff in my head but can't put it into context without failing miserably.....unfortunately in those six months I was out my PC crashed once more and lost all that. but I'll try since I play sax and Guitar but I am better with the sax than the guitar....I want to meld them but can't cuz I only had the trial version of fruity loops.(can't save) Try checking out the ReMixing forum. You may be able to get some good information there. The same goes out to anyone interested in submitting remixes. The people there are friendly and helpful (or so I've heard). Just make sure to be polite and courteous.
  16. Welcome, Horseboy, Fillerman, RandomDragoonKain, Ten Flames, link14, and Eternal Testament (and Stan). I hope you all have a pleasant stay here in OCR. Eternal Testament, if you see someone refer to ET, they probably are not talking about you, but rather Electronic Toothbrush, another poster here.
  17. *sigh* Why do I have to put all the things right that people put wrong here? First of all, Aetherius didn't ask me to change anything, he just said how the sounds made him vomit or made his ears bleed. There was not a single positive comment in there, so how in the world should I figure out that he actually liked the mix? There were other people in the channel at that time that can prove me right. This is starting to get ridiculous now... So.. no drama involved, never intended to create any, sorry to have bothered you with my mix which led to this lengthy discussion...now...will this ever end? The argument that involved you fell by the wayside a few days ago. we're on a new one now. You don't have to set anything right. in fact, the only thing I would suggest that you DO have to do is stop posting here. Do not reply to this post,do not pass go, do not collect self-satisfaction. I told you at least three times that I liked the mix, but not the sounds. go away already. Of course, just because a new topic of discussion has come up doesn't mean that the older one has reached any form of closure. However, it seems that this drama has already been resolved, in one form or another. In any event, I just want to encourage all of the remixers on this project. Do your best! Make awesome songs!
  18. Welcome, Tom and Jake (you wouldn't happen to be Mycon, eh Jake?) Just keep up the good spelling and sensible posts, and you guys will do fine. Make sure to heed Gaea's advice and stay away from Unmod. At the very least, lurk (that is, visit the forum and read the threads without posting anything). The people there can be quite friendly, but you have to have a high tolerance for eccentricity and outlandish behavior. Plus a strong stomach (they love to use shocking images).
  19. well I can give you something easily (I just figure for some reason you had...cause it is on this forum...so yeah ^^; ) http://rapidshare.de/files/7293569/BleedMyTears.mp3.html BAM there You really should indicate that this is a WIP, and not a fully completed mix. That may color his opinion somewhat. Unless, of course, it is already complete.
  20. What? CT sucks? what the hell are you talking about? CT is one of the best RPG's ever made! and the music is just freaking awesome. You should not take his post at face value. He is merely attempting a crude form of satire. Besides, it's already lost in the pages and pages of this thread. Any response to his post would be in vain.
  21. Those two songs are the teaser songs of the soundtrack. The other songs will be available as soon as the project is released.
  22. Pretty long run-on sentence. Other than that, the bio does a good job in covering most of the basics. After all, the Doom trooper is not exactly the deepest character. Good luck with the project, guys!
