  1. Er... That's for the WIP:Other forums.. This thread is for plugging music that you found. :/
  2. THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME I have been waiting for the next kwakfest for 30 years!
  3. Great! I'll put "Remix SGX" on my little todo whiteboard
  4. Hey, wasn't I the one who showed you L'arbre d'un Train? I've had that album for a while. That's a great compilation btw! I love a whole bunch of songs on there, particularly Transient's, Kaneel's, Valisproject's, and of course Xerxes' track is wonderful
  5. I have recently found a blog post about Khonnor, the same artist behind the "Welcome to Softbo EP," which goes into detail about the guy himself and links to a lot more of his work. Lots of links, here! http://xenophobe.livejournal.com/344074.html I know someone else here enjoys Khonnor, but I forgot who.

  8. Imagine 300-pound guys suing the company because they get stuck in the entry hole. killed it
  9. It's like taking a 10 mile hike without actually going anywhere! Actually, maybe I should consider this thing I like hiking
  10. brs_-_chillosophy.rar - 4.2mb a xerxes musicdisk which has its own player. Several very very chill songs. I forget how old exactly this is but not very. I was in some of the compos with xerxes when he made these tunes [in like, an hour!] and then he put them in a compilation of sorts. Mac guys should use VLC Media Player to play the .it files.
  11. Victoria's Secret. High quality fibers. oh BRASS It used to be so incredibly hard to find good brass samples, for some reason, though I think the quality has improved much over the past few years. Now I hear about Sam Horns all the time, and how awesome they are. If you're looking for free, you're outta luck. Maybe you can get Squidfont to sound good? It's happened before
  12. It might just be lack of interest on the dev team's or the composer's end. Rather than having a totally ambitious music engine, they'd probably want to work on voice acting or something. Music isn't a huge priority for game developers. Especially in America. In terms of what makes a game a game, music is actually less important than, say, having good ingame textures. I know hardware can handle multiple tracks of raw audio at once, but the engines people use to develop games probably don't accommodate this stuff.
  13. Not necessarily MIDI, though you could have situation-based music in all kinds of forms [raw audio, music modules, etc]. I'll talk about the two sides here and give two shining examples of each. Let's say, Deus Ex and Oblivion. I think both games had fantastic music, though I tend prefer Siren/Michiel over Soule SRY. Anyway, both games also have, in a way, player-controlled music. When you decide to attack someone, the music goes to "battle mode, or if you start talking to someone, a more low-key part of the song starts up, to give focus to the conversation. There is town music which is separate from the Exploration music in Oblivion, which puts you more into the "let's go shopping or steal shit from someone's house" mood. Unfortunately though, the music isn't as varied as in Deus Ex, but I think all it takes is a little extra work that Soule wasn't paid to do The difference between these games is that Deus Ex uses music mods [.umx], and Oblivion just uses .mp3 files. I believe, however, that it has nothing to do with the format of the music, rather just the skill of the composer and how deep he wants to go. You can use either a Geo Metro or an Escalade to get to the same party. As for efficiency, I believe that Deus Ex takes the cake. So there's your answer from me, I'd have to go with sequenced music. The music files are small, and the way the songs are sequenced is basically just code for the programmers. This eliminates the need for crossfading, and the composer can actually track an inbetween pattern if he or she wishes to do so. The DISADVANTAGE, however, is that sequenced music can sound fakey or, well, sequenced. Deus Ex still has amazing music, but they weren't really making realistic orchestral scores.
  14. I'm severely disappointed at a lot of the latest attitudes in this thread. What the fuck is going through your heads? edit: before I even condensed my post, it looks like people are trying to clarify their shit. that's good, I thought we were actually being serious here.
  15. Explain "Madonna - Terra in Black" the interbutt is just stupid like that sometimes
  16. I'm having a problem with threads "unreading" themselves even after I view them several times. dunno why that is. It's not every thread though, just the active ones. I can mark the entire OCR boards as read, but when I navigate off and then come back to the forum, the posts I haven't read yet are still marked as such.
  17. Here's an older release from Kahvi I'd like to re-plug, because I've been listening to it a lot lately: This, I think, is one of the ideal Kahvi releases. It has great progression and sounds, and doesn't stir too much up. It's the perfect thing to listen to late at night when you can't sleep. In other news, if you don't frequent WIP:Other, SGX is planning on another remix contest. Hopefully we'll get some nice material out of that, and I will also be participating. Probably.
  18. I didn't get one. I'm not even being scouted by FAKE gamedevs (´;ω;`)
  19. I... kinda like the OCR forums now Less threads to check!
  20. Nope! ThaSauce I guess took a bunch of video and pics [where the fuck are they?] and of course theshizz guys probably have a treasure chest full of wonderfully bizarre pictures. The "no photos" thing was just for Ayres, who was apparently only there to mock the festivities.
