  1. It's possible this is from VGMix (or the old VGMix) but I'm not familiar enough with their material to tell you. This one isn't recognizable to me. But it is my favorite song from Marble Madness!
  2. Ah but it's the spirit of the law that matters, not the letter.
  3. Yeah jam, I recently played melee again and played as luigi (my old main, along side c.falc) and it was just refreshing how punchy and agile he is compared to Brawl.
  4. There's tons of options, but the first that came to mind was http://www.rembrandtpainting.net/graphics/night_watch.jpg EDIT: nvm, I missed that you didn't want "a group" of people, you wanted 1-5. I'll second Nighthawks (below).
  5. Um, I remember getting a Super Missile and I think one SM expansion, but I don't remember what else. I got two energy tanks, too.
  6. The problem with MP2D is that they decided to completely scrap all the progress they made and start from the ground-up with a new engine. Which means in all likelihood it will never be finished. Plus, I think AM2R and SR388 look much better these days anyway because they don't insist on drawing ALL their own graphics.
  7. Shoot in face, shoot missile in face, dodge stuff
  8. Hey, the AM2R demo is up now. It's designed to be its own little game by itself, called Metroid: Confrontation. It's pretty great! My score in my first playthrough was 14/20 items in about 25 minutes (died once fighting Ridley and once fighting Kraid). Download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?iumzz5dnztx
  9. More news: Battle.net will possibly no longer be a free service. 'Speaking at yesterday's Diablo III Gameplay panel, Blizzard's Julian Wilson was asked one of the questions that's been hiding in the back of all of our brains, "Is Battle.Net going to remain free?" His response probably wasn't what you'd want to hear. "We are looking to monetize Battle.Net so that we get to keep making these games and updating features," said Wilson. "We kind of have to." He went on to say that they do recognize that everyone loves having it as a free service, and that they don't have a strong desire to make a subscription-based game. What does that mean for our beloved free online gaming service? We're hoping to find out when we talk to Blizzard bigwig Rob Pardo later this afternoon.' http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/blizz ... monetized/ Well, uh...um...
  10. I've been trying to make a little more of an effort to go back and drop a line at some of my old favorites - and this was DEFINITELY near the top of my list. I have some memories associated with this mix (and with the source tune) which make it all the more special to me, but DAMN! Even after all this time, you have such a chill, atmospheric groove going in this song, with tons of background depth and awesome chime runs flowing over that main mallet loop. Definitely gives me that underwater, spacey kind of vibe, but it's got the sweet groove pounding along with it which gives all that depth some context, some structure, and some pure, head-bobbing rhythm. Reich Lake is for sure near the very top of my favorite remixes.
  11. That's a little relieving to hear that each campaign is going to be really fleshed out. Also, it's interesting to hear that each is an "expansion", since the other article said they were standalone. That's a bigger relief, as far as I'm concerned, because it may reduce the total price.
  12. Please don't be so condescending to me. Of course I'm not ENTITLED to anything. You can't deny, however, that the expectations and hype Blizzard has been building about this game over time has given people hope that it will be the grand return of their old favorite RTS and, while I'm sure that's still the case, seeing 'innovative marketing strategies' come in between me and playing the entire game is disheartening. So if you're talking about my tone, it's because I wanted to make it clear I don't like and am surprised by what they're doing (and I was under the impression I'm allowed to complain about stuff I don't like, whether I'm entitled to anything or not). I thought others would want to know about it, and this IS solid, if vague, info (and I did actually acknowledge the lack of info in the post). I'm not at all concerned whether or not people will buy the game - it matters to me whether or not I'll like it. At least in my case, I still plan to buy one, but I'd call myself a science-fiction fan and I certainly know better than to pay triple-price for the game (if that's actually the case), and I think a lot of people would agree.
  13. Figured you all might like to know about this...just passing along the word. (I'm aware there's a SC2 thread already but I figured this was pretty big news and that thread is old. If they need to be merged, merge away!) IGN has just posted an article which I found really disappointing. Basically, it means Blizzard (or perhaps Activision) is, in my opinion, potentially ruining our perfect game with awful marketing strategies. http://pc.ign.com/articles/918/918895p1.html "StarCraft II now consists of three different stand-alone titles--one for each faction campaign. The first of the StarCraft II trilogy will be StarCraft II Terrans: Wings of Liberty. The second will be StarCraft II Zerg: Heart of the Swarm, with the third and final installment of the main trilogy being StarCraft II Protoss: Legacy of the Void. Blizzard says it made the change to make each story that much more epic and to flesh out the StarCraft universe. By splitting the game, the company says players will access more story content, more characters, and more customization. Each game will be a stand-alone installment – not an expansion." - My guess is "not an expansion" means each one will likely be full price (I hope maybe it will be cheaper to buy more than one). - Each game will only have one race and one of the three campaigns - I can only hope the multiplayer is identical. - This will only be acceptable to me if each game is like $20, which is pretty much impossible. - Think of how amazing this game would be if all three were in one huge, epic piece of software. But it's not. Granted, there aren't too many details known yet, so I'm just making this doomsday post based on what they've told us from blizzcon. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE
  14. Well no one got pissed this time, so I'll throw my hat in too! I'd love to see this sometime this month.
  15. I would still REALLY like to hear this damn Super Metroid album. I haven't given up hope (but since people only either get angry or don't respond when the thread is bumped I haven't been able to ask what's been happening in the last month). All that said, I'm definitely looking forward to this Mario 64 project - I hope it's awesome! Also, wasn't there a DKC2 project bouncing around? That looked pretty promising. Mostly, those three projects interest me the most because they have three of my favorite game soundtracks ever.
  16. If the project is officially dead then I would at least like to hear the portion that was finished (if that's allowed)! It seems like all this work shouldn't go to waste. (And no I don't mean to offend anybody, I only want to appreciate what you've done over all this time.)
  17. Well I was waiting on listening to this (as metroid is something special for me) until the full album was released to us, but... well it's been a really long while now, so...I decided to finally go ahead and check it out anyway... And this was a really well-done track! It sounds very professional and pixie's singing is flawless as far as I'm concerned! I also really liked the synths used for the main melody-line. This really isn't my kind of music to be honest, but I really enjoyed hearing Maridia covered. And even if the style isn't my particular cup of tea, it was executed fantastically - which is to say you took Maridia and changed the elements of the original style to perfectly fit this kind of music and make it something new (which is probably what Platonist was talking about too - it doesn't have the Metroid feel anymore because of its direction). Any way we could see the lyrics (if they haven't already been posted somewhere)?
  18. I believe only classical music has ever done this for me. I've gotten really "into" tons of other music, but I don't think any to that level.
  19. Ha, I just posted a thread about these elsewhere. I've been watching both of these with great interest. I think they're both extremely impressive for just being games one guy is working on. I think they will balance each other out. They look very professional and they look like they'll have really slick control based on what their respective blogs have been saying. I also really like that AM2R is focusing on the Zero Mission style of graphics while SR388 has the Super Metroid style. That will really make them different if nothing else will. News on their progress: An updated and vastly improved demo of the AM2R comes on Oct. 13 and the first playable demo of SR388 comes on Nov. 01 What's more, the official SR388 site is now online (as of today) and is here: http://metroidsr388.com/
  20. I think the fact that it has the player features, the camera and the internal memory means that DSi-specific homebrew is going to be AWESOME.
  21. Dunno if anyone's mentioned it, but they also talked about several GC "Wii-Makes" they're working on. Both pikmins, both metroid primes, and donkey kong jungle beat (among others) remade with new controls for wii at a bargain price? I'm onboard!
  22. Having to choose between DS DLC/flash memory and the GBA slot functionality makes me very sad.
