  1. I bought an HP laptop with 2gb ram and an AMD Turion x2 1.8 ghz processor with Vista and it ran fine with some tweaking. I turned off the side bar and the transparency in the window bars along with some services and it ran fine. I eventually wiped the drive and went to XP, but as I started up XP I realized that I kinda missed Vista even though I didn't want to admit it. The things I liked about Vista much more than XP are the better power options, the networking (to me) seemed better and much more user friendly, and I missed the pretty cards in Solitaire and FreeCell. Personally, I think I'm going to go back to Vista in the next few months when HP gets their webcam drivers working properly on it because I had no problems other than that with Vista. tl;dr I find both OS's have their strengths and weaknesses and it's up to you which strengths you value over others.
  2. Reminds me of CyberNations but what you describe is a bit different. Was it text-based in a browser or is it an actual program?
  3. Wow April 1st sure snuck up on us this time around. All joking aside, congrats to the new judges.
  4. I think this test is filled with lulz: 21 and 15.
  5. I have to admit, Banjo Kazooie was the game that introduced me into the world of video game music. I remember Best Buy gave out the soundtrack and a N64 t-shirt for purchasing the game. So, I must concur, that this game deserves to have much more remixes. I remember some time ago that there was a remix project for it, did that die?
  6. I must've read the wrong thread or something then. But yeah, no matter what I'm still looking forward to your remix, I read a lot of good feedback on it over on the project forums.
  7. I'm looking forward to this so you better deliver.
  8. I know there's a Pokemon remix project in the works but I've checked out their boards and found that the remixer for Goldenrod City is AWOL with a dead link to his/her WIP. So I have no idea what genre the mix was like but telling from the replies it doesn't match what I have in mind for my request. Anyway, I always thought Goldenrod's theme would be awesome in a Johann Pachelbel-esque style. Perhaps incorporate some of Canon in D very subtly like in DJP's Pachelbel's Ganon but not so much as to keep it within the submission guidelines. Thanks for considering.
  9. Speaking of www.aperturescience.com you can also use the login: cjohnson and password: tier3 to get a different result.
  10. Won one against koi. lawl EDIT: Won my second against koi. EDIT2: Split 1-1 against dead ceo
  11. I'll be sure to download this once I get home from vacation. It'll let me listen to songs I wouldn't normally (or too lazy to) listen to. The CD description and what you drew inspiration from matches what I've been looking for.
  12. Lost two against Bahamut. I really need to get my act together. Slumps in chess shows a lack of thought process. D: Edit: Played once against Bigboss and I won.
  13. I can tell you right now that that is bullshit because there's no difference between graphics shown from a video game and those from a television program or from a DVD. How can an LCD even determine that a video game system is connected to it? Well that was my logic to it. A quick search on Wikipedia yields no mention of the phrase "video game" and a quick scimming of the Drawbacks section of the article mentions nothing about an LCD dying faster nor does it even mention life expectency.
  14. I don't really deal a lot with sound cards. But I've been quite satisfied with my Creative SoundBlaster Live card I got with my Dell a long time ago. I actually moved it to my "gaming" desktop. I did a quick search on Newegg for a good inexpensive Creative card. I avoided the "gaming" cards because those are jacked up in price and you should only get one if you really are a gaming and technology fanatic (like the nVidia 8800 graphics card). However, I believe sound quality is much harder to pick out than graphics quality. But then again I never put much emphasis on sound. So this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102002 is good for listening to your music (you'll definitely notice an increase in quality over your integrated sound.) Gaming-wise it features Creative's EAX stuff. EAX helps games seem more realistic by making sound appear like it's in a real-life environment (better and more thorough description at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_audio_extensions). Personally I wouldn't notice a difference but you may like it. The only thing you may want to note about the card is that it does not have the MIDI port you wanted.
  15. I'm up for a game with anyone. Just give me a little message on AIM and I can usually do it right then and there.
  16. STOP! Unless you are interested in a warranty from either company I strongly suggest you buy neither. My computer (also a gaming computer) is top of the line and only cost me $1500. Granted I didn't buy a new monitor, keyboard, or mouse but since you'll be getting a desktop (I assume since it's a gaming computer) the parts will be cheap. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.4ghz, 2gb of ram (I have XP but if you'll be getting Vista for DirectX 10 then I'd get 4gb of ram) and an nVidia 8800 GTS all on a ASUS P5K Deluxe motherboard. If you're worried about building the computer, I figured out how to myself with no previous knowledge about how to put one together. There is no use throwing away $1000-$1500 just to have a company give you a warranty and build it for you. Do some research on the parts and if you really don't want to build it yourself, pay a friend or a local company to do it for you. All the parts I got for my computer I bought off of www.newegg.com
