Games that were nostalgic but now suck
Global-Trance replied to Arcana's topic in General Discussion
Secret of Mana is glitchy but excellent. A little too heavy on spell and skill grinding but it's great nonetheless. The sequel is even better, imo, and it is massively disappointing it never got a US release outside of the ROM and English patch. -

Yea..... I can't get into Evermore. -
Siding with bLiNd on this one. Obviously mastering isn't going to do something miraculous like change your genre and style of a song but you'd be surprised how much high quality mastering can tie a collection of songs together. bLiNd does this sort of thing all the time. And although I don't dabble in it on a level as technical as he does, I have had to EQ/master some tracks I've worked with when DJing to make mixes sound a lot more cleaner and unified.

Mazedude is also an overachiever.

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling (Tenjii)
Global-Trance replied to bLiNd's topic in General Discussion
After you guys vote for bLiNd, one of my (and bLiNd's) friend would also like a vote. Big room trance vibe. http://www.beatportal.com/remix/detail/i-gotta-feeling-amurai-remix/ He already sent me a full extended club mix and I like it way more than the original If you guys don't know how to vote, all you gotta do is register and make a free account there and then click on Spin-It on the song's page. You can also use that account at Beatport to buy HQ dance music as well. -
Nice additions of artists to the tracklist.........

There's also the instance where tons of people play a game that they like and make an average track for a project but give it all this praise and attention only because it's something they're familiar with... Music is music... you don't have to play the game first.
-
A good remix project, in my mind, does have a sense of cohesion... so all in one broad range of style would work but you'd have to keep it short and sweet so it doesn't get boring. If you keep it to the essentials of Wild Arms, you can concentrate on the quality instead of the quantity.
-
Excellent analysis. I've gone through a large number of .nsf from NES games and dissected tracks into separate channels and I'm constantly going "What the hell?" in amazement of how complex they've made the songs with a very small number of channels that can only play one thing at a time. Really fascinating.
-
Is this just the very first Wild Arms? I'd love to see reworks of some of the other Wild Arms games too but perhaps it's asking too much to consider the idea of a project that encompasses the very best of all Wild Arms? Either way, Wild Arms needs more love please.

Finally a sequel to Super Metroid - Shadow Complex
Global-Trance replied to I-n-j-i-n's topic in General Discussion
Currently on Challenge Pack 1 my ranks are... Come On, Let's Jump - #34 Soft Jump - #180 Wall Jumper - #6 Fire in the Hole - #262 (Technically #1 because I have a max score but the rank is kinda first come first serve... so 261 people got the max score before I did) Above the Pain - #2 I have not attempted Wind Hook or Speedy Von Speeds Alot yet. These are addicting. -

They probably should have made it so that you can only use it when you've successfully caught them off guard so that you can't just run up to someone and destroying someone while attaining invincibility frames in midst of a shoot-out. -

I don't get what's with all this talk about Super Metroid is better than Shadow Complex or vice-versa. Shadow Complex was basically a love letter to Super Metroid and it was a rad game. -
bLiNd is VERY BUSY (attn: project leaders)

So is anyone from here going there with a DJ set? >_> -
Oh hey thanks! My site has all old work and I'm just too lazy to put up new stuff. I hardly come by these parts anymore but I'm glad I popped in randomly.

Is America ready for a trance/dance music themed video game?
Global-Trance replied to 8BitBliss's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't say that mainstream/popular music is specifically influenced by trance. I'd be a little more generic when saying it's influenced by that kind of sound. Just because some song has some sort of saw synth or whatever in it doesn't mean it was influenced by trance. I'd probably generalize it to "electronic." But whatever, pop/hip-hop/rap etc has been doing it for a long time and it's pretty awful. Really yawntastic and uninspired loops over most likely cheap lyrics. As for trance centered video game music, Yuzo Koshiro's (Streets of Rage, Ys, etc.) work on the Wangan Midnight racing series had plenty of typical eurobeat/trance tracks on it. It worked fine in Japan and it would probably work fine here too. Though if you ask me, if video game music is going to have a soundtrack based in electronic dance music, it'll probably take it's influences from house or breakbeats first if anything. -

Blizzard is infamous for this sort of thing. They make announcements about going to announce stuff. But yea you shouldn't hold your breath about what Blizzard says. Whatever they say about releasing a patch, just wait. It's out when it's out... -
I don't remember the last time I've seen some of those names. I guess I'll check this out.
