  1. So, I've been working on this song off & on. not sure if i'll ever get around to finishing it, but I'd like to see what you guys think so far. It's one of Thane's themes with a little bit of the Normandy theme thrown in. http://www.kngi.org/thejoker/ME2-Photographic.mp3
  2. started this on this turkey day. whaddaya think? Freefall? Amazing! enjoy.
  3. Been having connection issues lately, so when I saw that the connection quality was...somewhat productive today, I figured I'd upload an update. Here's how it sounds now. In here: 2 verses, 2 choruses (chorii?), and a solo. as well as a bunch of holes I need to fill in. The solo has gaping holes in it because me and Cyril are going to be trading solo licks! Not sure if I'm gonna end it with an extra verse/chorus combo, or just a chorus. Anyway, here: http://www.speedyshare.com/files/25633160/BurnBobongaDragonwolfEarlyWIP.mp3
  4. Hello all, I haven't submitted an OCReMiX since 2005 (argh!) so I'm working on several ideas at the moment. One of them is a remix from that particulartheme from Dune, which has one of the best FM soundtracks ever in my opinion. The original can be heard here: The latest WIP is here: http://www.xavierdang.com/dump2010/mv_-_dune_remix_alpha02.mp3 Style is ambient/glitch IDM. It is maybe a bit too conventional right now, so I might edit things already present. Also I have to work on more interesting glitch effect on the drums and reduce the decay on most drum hits that glitch. Anyway feel free to comment and critique, thanks for your time!
  5. sup, here's a more groove-oriented interpretation of megaman zero 4's beautiful title song (and in my opinion luna umegaki's best work). the arrangement is mostly on the finished side, but i cut off the second half for this wip since it isn't fully fleshed out yet and i could use production pointers. the real ending isn't a fadeout edit 12/10: original:
  6. these are only very short demos right now. I just thought of and recorded this. I'm curious what people think of it being in 5/4. You won't recognize the source at first. This is part of a larger medley. The medley combines the three different versions of Nanaki's theme from the game. This except is of the part when you first meet him, then it goes into the main theme after and fades out. It's only guitar and banjo right now. it's just a sample I guess ... edit: deku tree: nanaki, starts at 0:38: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC5ZbIvQRjU
  7. So one day OCRE was showing me his piano arrangements and I HAD to make a trance remix out of this one... Please provide feedback and any arrangement ideas would be nice. It's kind of bare bones right now and I'm trying to figure out where to take this.
  8. Hello, OCRemix community! I've been visiting the site and listening to all the great creativity for over two years now, since I was 13, and last year I tried my hand at creating some ReMixes myself. I found it much easier to arrange an already great composition to make it even better with sounds and samples of higher quality, rather than just compose something new myself. GarageBand may not be state of the art composition technology, but until I can figure out how to use a tracker, it'll do My first remix was really just an arrangement of Zelda's "Dark World", but it didn't turn out all too well, due to the lack of realistic sounding instruments. http://tindeck.com/listen/bgme This is a remix of Super Mario Kart's "Rainbow Road" which is practically done, though there is still some adjusting to be done with sound levels, and though I think a different key sounds better, I may want to keep it in it's original pitch. I will probably edit it more depending on the opinions and comments I receive. Please post your feedback, good or bad, as I want to know how to improve for future remixing. Thanks For Listening!
  9. Hello, today I come to present a remix I did, is the main theme of Super Mario Bros in an electronic remix ... All melodic sounds were made by me with a program of synthesizers ... I hope you like ... and write your suggestions to make improvements ... (Sorry if my English is bad, I use a translator ...)
  10. Okay, WIP forum prowlers, I know I have an active thread already for my Super Mario 64 File Select remix, but in a spurt of creativity this evening, I ended up with something really cool, and I wanted you all to hear it and tell me what you think. It's a remix of the Legend of Zelda Overworld theme (like THAT'S never been done before.) You can find the source I used here: Additionally (and most importantly for this post) you can find my new WIP mix of this song here:
  11. There was a time; this was my second submission to OCR... Naturally, it was declined. Poor samples, too loud, too mushy, not enough arrangement and was mainly all about the original song. I was fairly new to the scene; and hardly knew how to use my DAW. I have learned a lot from the community, and decided to give this piece a second go, 132GB of samples and VST's later. Please have a listen (ESPECIALLY DarkSim, No Escape, SBeast & Cyril the Wolf, you guys submitted the best critiques on my last piece). http://tindeck.com/listen/cujb As always I did my best leveling the track so things don't smash together. After all the work I've done on this track it sounds quite good; but my ears may be missing something. Are those drums coming across too loud, maybe? Effects Used: Gross Beat (gating of the drums and gating the sidechain), Fruity Filter (for filtering the low pass of the drums). VST's Used: NeXus 2 (majority of the synths and arps). Absynth 5 (introduction arp, which also falls at the end of the song as well). Kontakt 5 (Drums). Thanks for having a listen!
  12. Hi guys, This is a ReMix of Lava Powerhouse from Sonic Spinball (Mega Drive/Genesis) called Heart of Magma. It's a work in progress and requires some work but I'm a little stumped as to what. Please give it a listen. It is intended to have lyrics so follows a verse-chorus kinda structure. Thanx.
  13. Hey guys first time remixer, thought i'd come here for some good advice to increase the chances of my mix getting posted. Im doing a mix of Nocturne of Shadow from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I wanted to make a lo-fi, gritty sounding recording like something from an old record or tape but im worried that even though the poor quality is 100 percent intentional and done for an artistic reason, OC would not allow it because it only accepts production of "high quality" I added some redead screams and moans into the song because i know that redeads scared the shit out of everybody Im not sure weather or not il add more to the song, because there is only so much one can do with a 21 second source Thanks for your help Here is the source Here is the file
  14. Hi I'm new in the forum and this is the first remix I share with you. I tried to respect the bassline of the original song but to make all the track more upbeat. Also I've tried to make it sound "retro" like thos 80's 90's remixes. I hope you like it, and sorry if I make your ears bleed, I suck at mixing. Here's the link.
  15. hello guys! I've just made this remix of Sonic Colors main theme (Reach for the Stars) over the last weekend: Check that out and let me know how you like it! The original song has got a punk-rock beat, and I just wanted to give it more of a dancing beat with lots of synths in the background. First version was slightly slower and with no vocals, but I really wanted to add the vocals to the mix. Tried my best to isolate the vocals, but couldn't do it perfectly, it still adds a lot of noise to the background besides the vocals. Any tip and tools on how to better isolate the vocals on the original track are much appreciated. I've submitted another version without the vocals to OCRemix to evaluate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAoQUsKU7Rk), but now I kinda regret it, should have waited until getting to a final version because I think this one with the vocals added is better! sigh! cheers, Fábio.

  17. Original: Please note: This is the first time that I'm making a dubstep song in Logic, so don't expect really high-end stuff. That said, I have had a fair amount of good feedback from people who are more experienced in making it. Link to most recent Demo Now, I will admit that, for the time being, it's very basic. But, dubstep usually tends to be. There is a section in the chorus (~1:00) where it the time signature goes all wacky, but that's how I roll: I'm heavily inspired by a lot of prog music: I've done a dance song in 5/4, a metal track in 9/8; I'm not one to keep to tradition. That said, the original track changes time signature (from 4/4 to 6/4); I just went a little further (5/4, 6/4, 5/4, 8/4, 2/4) I'm guessing that this track might be put down a little for using the actual source music at the start, but that's only to serve as a first build-up; a WIP this may be, but that's the only place it'll be at. I might put a couple filters on it to disguise it; I'm not entirely sure. All that said and done, enjoy.
  18. Remix I've always been rather disappointed in the amount of Thunder Force remix material out there, and I've been wanting to tackle this for quite some time, so I went ahead and remixed the TF4 intro, Lightning Strikes Again. My greatest difficulty here was stretching a mere 30 seconds of material out into a song of respectable length, and I did my best to keep it fresh without deviating too far from the source, although I kinda go for a ride during the second half of the song. Although this version is more or less a complete song, I've tagged it as a WIP, since I still feel that there's a lot more that could be done with it. I also somehow managed to resist granting it the title Lightening Striker... feedback is much appreciated.
  19. http://www.tindeck.com/listen/lmsl (main)source The premise for this mix was that I tried to imagine what kind of opening theme Chrono Trigger would have if it was a futuristic mecha anime. Wings of Time is the main source but there's a lot of other songs in there. (battle theme, main theme, zeal) Vocals are sort of placeholder/cut+paste since synthesizing them takes a shitton of effort. Specific production crits are very welcome because my ears are tired as hell by now, so I miss a lot of stuff.
  20. Here's an updated version of my Mario Kart 64 WIP mix of Rainbow Road. I should just focus on this instead of like two projects at once, so I think I'll just work on this for a while. http://www.tindeck.com/listen/jdmo
  21. -Electric Aztec- Feedback? This might just be the one that makes it...Yes, drums do sound fake. I know that. I just wanted some placeholders for now.
  22. Hey everyone. I have a remix that I'm working on. The version I'm posting here is more or less complete. I've only had one remix posted to OCR and it was critically panned, so I really want to make this one all it can be. Here's the concept: The Yoshi's Story theme, in the style of "Someone Keeps Moving My Chair" by They Might Be Giants. (hear the TMBG song .)Here's what I've got so far: Click here to listen to Yoshi's_Story_Someone_Keeps_Moving_My_Yoshi.mp3 (updated 11-24-2010) Update: I originally posted here looking mainly for comments on the production/mastering. I think I've got that more or less where I want it. So please offer any feedback you have. Thanks. I'll take all the feedback you've got. If you don't think it's worth submitting to OCR, I want to hear that too. Thanks, everyone!
  23. I finally had a chance to start back working on this extremely old project. Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UGVg8XT8mM I am trying to go for a hip-hop/R&B style, but I think its kind rough right now. WIP: http://www.mediafire.com/?48qyq3kbwq9menu I'm having a difficult time deciding what leads to use. I'm definitely open for suggestions.
  24. Some of you may remember this WIP from a while back. I had to stop working on it for a little while for many reasons, but I finally got back to it and got to the end. I'll update a little later with a breakdown of theme use, but for now know that it is based entirely off of and the from Zelda: Majora's Mask.0:00 - 0:20: Piano notes are Song of Healing beginning backwards. 0:20 - 0:38: Brass parts are Majora's Theme straight through, verbatim but with changed rhythm. Song of Healing interjections. 0:39 - 0:55: Song of Healing chords 0:55 - 1:10: Song of Healing melody harmonized 1:12 - 1:57: Majora's Theme, pretty straightforward statement 1:57 - 2:10: Development of piano motif, based on Song of Healing 2:11 - 2:38: Majora's Theme inverted 2:38 - 3:02: Strings are tapping Song of Healing 3:03 - 3:23: Piano is playing Song of Healing, but repeating each melodic unit. 3:23 - 3:30: Brass is playing around with Majora's Theme melodic material 3:30 - 3:58: Bass line is Majora's Theme, unchanged 3:58 - 4:19: Trumpet is playing second part of the Song of Healing 4:19 - 4:27: Brief Majora use in brass 4:27 - 4:42: Strings are playing the beginning of Majora's Theme with an added note 4:42 - 4:54: Combination of the starts of both themes in the strings (don't expect anyone to notice) 4:55 - 5:16: Majora's Theme with Healing interjections, ends with Song of Healing 5:20 - 5:46: Song of Healing, Both the piano repetitions and the single notes of the melody (omitting a few) interspersed in piano. I don't expect everyone to hear all of it, but the themes are crucial and always present in some form or another. I do not want every statement to be perfectly clear--this is an arrangement, so neat uses of the melody are important to me. Things on my checklist currently: Some leveling. Some EQ, etc. to decrease any mud. Let me know what you think and what I can do to improve it! Click here to listen to Majora8.mp3
