  1. Hi there! I would love feedback on my cover of the ending theme from Super Metroid. The 17 second or so intro in the source is on my to-do list. Any and all suggestions are welcome. How realistic does it sound? Anything I can do to improve the realism? Thanks! 2. Got some inspiration while listening to skyrim and various other orchestral music. So I decided to record my vocals and guitar over some orchestral instruments. https://soundcloud.com/atiomusic/servitude
  3. Hey everyone! My name is Josh Barron and I am not sure if some of you have heard of me but I used to have Kingdom Hearts piano collection project a few years ago. I have come back into the industry with a labor of love that has been going on for quite some time. I have assembled a group of string musicians to perform arrangements from various game titles. I will be making an album and this album will be called The ETHEReal String Project. Here is the tracklist: 1. Fang’s Theme for String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY XIII) Two Nordic Folk Songs for Piano and String Quintet (from ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM) 2. Song I: Secunda 3. Song II: Ancient Stones 4. Trisection for String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY TACTICS) 5. Eruyt Village for Piano and String Quintet (from FINAL FANTASY XII) 6. I Was Lost Without You for Piano and String Quintet (from MASS EFFECT 3) 7. And Thus Fate Becomes Cruel for String Orchestra (from HEROES OF MANA) 8. Eternity ~ Memories of Light and Waves for Piano and String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY X-2) 9. Honor, Sacrifice, Glory: Variations on Themes from Halo 2 for String Orchestra (from HALO 2) 10. Still Alive for String Orchestra (from MIRROR’S EDGE) 11. Tactical Espionage Suite for String Orchestra (from METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY) 12. Forest of Awakening (Original Composition) 13. Sulyya Springs for Viola and Piano (FINAL FANTASY XIII) The release date will be July 28th. I am posting this to generate awareness of this project in the hopes that many of you will enjoy this music I have worked so hard to create. Feel free to check out the samples and complete tracks that I have provided on my SoundCloud page which can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/josh-barron/sets/etherealstringproject Enjoy and please offer feedback as I always look to improve . Keep in mind the recordings aren't final versions so the sound may or may not be different in the final release.
  4. Something that I have felt and said for a long time now, is that a musician's music is essentially an audio snapshot of his/her emotion at the time of it's creation. This piece "Epitomizes" that ideal if you will (for me at least). I had been scouring the corners of my mind for quite some time for some reason to a situation that I had faced prior to make this piece. I vented out my frustration on the guitar one night and then I hit the "ah-ha" moment to my demons that had been tormenting me, thus the name "Epiphany". Pretty much sums up what that moment felt like in my soul at the time. http://tindeck.com/listen/ojdsb
  5. Hello everyone! I decided to make an account here so that I could really get serious about improving my remixes, so I'm starting off by posting a recent orchestration I did of the surfing theme from pokemon ruby/sapphire. Mainly, I'm looking for feedback about the quality of sound. I'm still not very good at making unique arrangements, but I've been trying to work on it. I think I could use work on things like mastering/dynamics and such, but tips on anything would be appreciated! Here's a link to the newest version of the remix: http://tindeck.com/listen/xfank ..and here's a link to the source in case you haven't heard it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMumv8yML-Q
  6. Hey guys I released an album not to long ago. Its a mix of orchestral and electronic instruments. You can listen to some of the tracks here. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/gimmengong Enjoy !
  7. Gradius 'Horizontal Armada' This sounds pretty cool, fake orchestra with drums and other electronic sounds! Not the best Gradius tune in the world, but this one was a good one to remix and give it that djp touch (it sounds a wee bit similar to his Star Fox mix). The french horn sounds pretty good, though I am used to a bit more texture from french horn sounds. A good listen.
  8. Star Fox 'Clan McCloud' I think right before he made this tune djp must have went to the music store and purchased some new instruments and/or software because the sound quality of his mixes started making leaps and bounds forward with this cool tune. The percussion is particularly good, I think. So are the strings which sound very smooth and clean. In the second half the song quiets down to make room for some cool piano, then gets going again. I thought that was a brilliant touch. Nothing at all bad to say about this ReMix. Well I could probably find something bad if I really wanted to, but I don't want to.
  9. Hi there! I'm new in this forum ! I was playing and creating some DOOM level with a friend, and then I had an idea, create a song using DOOM's sounds! So I made it, and I just finished it! I called it "Baron of Hell (Tribute to DOOM)", a mix between dubstep, orchestral and rock styles, I tried to create melodies which remind the overall atmosphere of this incredible game! I hope you'll like it! I've just submitted my track for the Judge Pannel. Best regards from France! https://soundcloud.com/thegadget/baron-of-hell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9LSJtgm9aU
  10. Phantasy Star 'Alis Overture' I really like this mix. I'm not entirely sure, but it might be a remix of the ending theme. Or maybe not. It's hard to say as I really don't hear a lot of Phantasy Star in this mix It's mostly original djp music it seems. Good thing he's a good musician! Regardless, it pays a phantastic tribute tribute to a phenomenal game for a very underlooked system. This game was better than any of the NES Final Fantasy's, IMO. This tune fits the mood of the game.
