  1. -This is a power metal S.S.H. style remix of Rimururu's theme from Samurai Showdown 4. I feel it's pretty much complete but i would like some outside opinions before i officially enter it to O.C. remix. It was all made in FL studio using NO money. -I used the demo version of FL studio. I used 2 free VSTs one for the drums and one for the Harp. the rest were all done with Sytrus VST. This remix took a lot of time and effort due to the fact that i used the demo version. Every time i reloaded it in FL studio i had to redo all of the effects and remaster it. it took about 4 days total to do. -I'd like everyone's honest opinion on it good or bad. (note: this is my first real remix so i don't expect it to be anywhere near perfect lol) here is the song: http://tindeck.com/listen/glbq
  2. I posted a Gumshoe remix and wanted to redo with new stuff that I learned: What do you think?
  3. Posting something that the group recorded at tonight's rehearsal. Taken near the back end of the rehearsal, so expect some flubs here and there. Arrangement by one of our trumpet players, Mike. Since this is a medley, there's a lot of source material and frankly it's a little late for me to be looking for all of the stuff that Mike included. Maybe tomorrow when I'm not so tired. I know for sure that it includes music from: Wind Waker, original LoZ, Lttp, and Zelda II. Thoughts, comments, concerns?
  4. WIP: http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=832# One of my favorite tracks from the Chrono Cross soundtrack. Transcribed for brass quintet, with the intention of it seeing live performance once I'm finished with editing. The more I do this (I've been quite prolific of late) the more I discover how easily orchestration comes to me (at least for brass) while actually doing something new (arrangement) continues to elude me. [edit: New Version is here! http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=833 ] Newer Version - now with live musicians! Hopefully Joe will have his flugel fixed by next time so that we'll have 2x flugelhorns. Apologies in advance for the missed notes, this was the last thing we played at our rehearsal.
  5. G'day/Night all. I've been working on a little project lately - just adding my own little touch to my fav tracks on the incredible FFXIII OST(via remixes). Recently stumbled upon OCR, so I figured I'd share it with this community as well (usually post on Youtube). Track2-SulyyaSprings-Remix-. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to let me know what you think. More'll be posted as they are produced.
  6. ...so I decided to hunt around here, see what songs I have in the game music collection that I want to remix, and I found Donkey Kong Country 3's "Rocket Run". Decided to give that one a shot first. I'm taking my time on it, so it took 2 days to have a showable WIP. Note this is still very much in progress. The main part is only half finished, I still have to put 8 bars of original stuff in it. Any suggestions on what I should do? http://www.box.net/shared/juqm1kflrp
  7. Something silly I threw together. Critique away! http://www.tindeck.com/listen/rqjn
  8. http://soundcloud.com/aires/goodtimes this is HEAVLY in WIP im adding and taking alot of things out
  9. Dear OCR, Just came here to share my latest track. It's a 'Retro Dance' Remix from DKC2's Disco Train. Awesome source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzP3_9qqP3Y Remix (Tindeck link): http://tindeck.com/listen/ckfr It's (nearly) done, but feedback is greatly appreciated! Background info: As a part time job, I work at a rollercoaster / theme park. This one day I had to start quite early, was fun to see the rising sun behind the coaster. Because the theme park was built in a forest area, the early sun really gave the track something mystic imo. That kinda got me inspired, lemme know if you can hear that in the final render! Anyway, enjoy!
  10. -Green Tree- I want feedback on this one. Yes, I know the drums sound fake, and the instruments aren't all that good. But tell me what you think of it.
  11. It stands for Blue Rogues Against Valuan Empire. It was originally just RAVE, but I think the former has a little more personality to it. I've been working on this for 2 days straight, and I'm to the point where my ears are so shot that I can't tell what sounds good or bad anymore so I need to take at least a full day's break from working on this. In the meantime, I figured it would be a good time to get feedback from y'all. Like I said, it could be horrible or decent. I can't tell anymore and I need to know. The source is "Last Dungeon": And here's my Trance (is it?) mix so far. It's only about 3 minutes, but I'd like it to be at least 4 so I'm not done. Note: If you heard the abomination that was my first Skies of Arcadia mix, just pretend that never happened. http://soundcloud.com/exobyte/skies-of-arcadia-last-dungeon-remix-wip And now I cross my fingers hoping it doesn't suck. EDIT: And now I think it sucks.
  12. Hi everyone, My latest ReMix Source: Let me know what you think of it, thanks
  13. This is a freestyle I did earlier this morning about Street Fighter and Fei Long. I did it all in one take for all the parts even the adlibs. Its a club song and at the end i was gonna add the sound of me playing SF4 with Fei Long so you can hear him tear it up lol I have a sendspace link for it http://www.sendspace.com/file/ae0v8d
  14. But not as good. Kinda reminds me of a Wii commercial. (I'm probably gonna scrap this). In rough sketch phase. Uploaded for anyone that cares to listen. http://www.jaredhudson.com/music/Hudgroove.mp3
  15. I probably won't finish most of these, but here are some demos and sketches; would love to hear what anyone thinks.. http://klutzmusic.com/samples/battle2.mp3 Actually wrote this 5+ years ago, when the first Pirates of the Carribean movie came out, but I still like it. Was inspired by it and sketched a battle scene..one day I'll finish it.. http://klutzmusic.com/samples/flow.wav Short sketch of..a winding corridor? http://klutzmusic.com/samples/space.wav Just messin around with some electronic instruments.. http://klutzmusic.com/samples/war.wav More recent than the other battle song; prob some kind of war.. http://klutzmusic.com/samples/Time2.mp3 Most recent WIP I've made. Don't mind the massive percussion at the end; it's just an experiment haha. I like this one, and plan to finish it..
  16. This is not a remix. It's what I would call a re-orch (there may be a better term for what I did). Anyway I took the boiling pot theme from SMB2 and applied different better instruments to it. I was just messing around with the presets and FL Studio and came up with this version here. It came out nice, so I would like to see what y'all have to say about it. I am looking to improve it. Thanks! Click here to listen to boilingpot.mp3
  17. http://www.tindeck.com/listen/vjjk A dance remix of the Tornado Man theme. Mostly done with poizone. So yeah, I guess talking about what I did here? I always thought Tornado Man definitely had some really cool riffs going on below the surface, so I tried to bring them out here, like with that one really sweet line near the beginning. Other than that its pretty by-the-books.
  18. So, my dream is to become a director/VGM/film composer. I'm new to composing classic orchestra in general and I wanted to ask you guys about your opinion for this track im working on. I hit walls easily and cant overcome them unless someone tells me how to - in other words im stupid. Please give me some pointers of things to improve and whatnot, I'd really appreciate it. http://www.mediafire.com/?7cmvunj3bh5xhrt
  19. This isn't really a "remix," but a cover, but I'm doing a series of covers on Mega Man 3 while playing through the game. I'm gonna be doing one a week... first up is .
  20. I was messing around with analog-ish synths in reason and came up with this ... http://soundcloud.com/astruve/castlesofdraculawip I really enjoy listening to it but I want some feedback to what others think of it.
  21. So this is my first attempt at 'rave', which probably isn't a good idea seeing as I only have one VSTi besides everything else that comes with Fruity Loops, but it didn't hurt to give it a shot. As usual, covering songs that nobody has love for. Download
  22. Doing a lot of reworking. Might re=post later
  23. Well... this is scary. I've been a fan of video game music since I was three years old, a fan of OCR since middle school and now, in college, I'm taking my first shaky steps towards producing something of quality. Visual art is my main creative outlet, and I'm quite new to the process of composing music; I've experimented throughout the years, a lot of it inspired by this place, starting back in middle school on a free MIDI program- but all of it very sporadic. Only recently- and I mean in the past few weeks- have I suddenly become obsessed with this little seed of an idea that someday, if I work hard enough, if I ask for help and suggestions, I too could share my ideas with the world through OCR. So today I'm offering you what I think is my best work so far, although it still needs a lot of work, I know. Please tell me anything- what you think can be improved with composition, production (this is an area in which I'm still very amateur), or whatever else- rip it apart if you must! Here it is: Great Prognostications, a song composed of Flipside (the hubworld in Super Paper Mario) and SMB3's Cloud Heaven. You're doubtless familiar with Cloud Heaven, but here is Flipside if you'd like to compare with the original. Thank you so much for listening. It means a lot to me. I'm really obsessed with improving my musical abilities at this point, but I really don't have much to go on or anyone around to teach me directly, and I've an untrained ear, not to mention one dulled by hearing my own songs too much. So please tell me everything you notice that bothers you! Thanks, -Alter
  24. Alright, I'm throwing myself down on the sacrifice table... or something less dramatic. -- This is a remix of the Metropolis theme from Sim City for the SNESI recently got Reason and have been hobbling my way through it. It comes with a great demo track called 'Narrow Escape' and I was kind of using it to observe and see how things worked. It helped me learn how to build my own instruments and how to route stuff. I did this by having it open on the left and a blank slate on the right and seeing if I could go through all of the nuances and details and actually duplicate the same sound on my own. Through doing this, I half-accidently realized that the rough composition and sound would work really well with this song, and I was a big SNES Sim-City freak as well, so it all works out. Anyway, it may border on taking too much from the work of the artists that created the original 'Narrow Escape' (including the title, but I think it works) But I think it is made enough from my own to be classified as --paraphrasing-- especially the melody and chorus synths, which were born all from my own creation! Regardless of all of that, I've spent the last few weeks antagonizing over every little detail in it and I kinda want to share it with the community.
