  1. First of all, GREAT JOB GUYS!! Keep it up, I can't wait to listen to the finished product! I think that Final Fantasy VIII has some of the best music since VI and VII. Any word when 8 will get the OCRemix treatment? How about FF3? Or 10? They have great soundtracks, all done by the genius Nobuo Uematsu! Can't wait for the full realization of the FFV collection!
  2. This song is sampled from the score Attack from Final Fantasy X. Made in FL Studio, Utilizes two pianos, two synth from Sytrus, and a standard drumset with an 808. Also has a few delays and reverbs. Not really sure how to describe the sound or genre I guess a blend of pop and hip hop. Feedback and criticism as usual are always welcome. Thanks for listening. Hope you enjoy. Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_o4pETAzW4 My Mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knssyMY0HAk
  3. Final Fantasy fans! Check out the EDM remix to the Chocobo song! Rave!! Hope you enjoy! ORIGINAL: MY VERSION:
  4. I'd like to introduce everyone to our new album Legacy Sessions: GAME Generation 5, a new album featuring classic melodies from the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation era, arranged and performed live by professional studio musicians. Please see the info below, and if you like the album please help spread the word because we'd like to make more of these from other gaming generations! Follow Legacy Sessions on Twitter and Facebook, and visit the official website for future announcements and music video releases. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lead arranger Casey Ormond--best known for his arrangements and performances on Piano Collections: Final Fantasy XII and Valkyria Chronicles Piano Pieces--leads a team of talented arrangers and musicians as they revisit several of the most memorable melodies from the 32-bit era including tributes to Final Fantasy VII, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Super Mario 64, and more. The album is fully licensed and available now for $12 via Loudr: Legacy Sessions: GAME Generation 5 on Loudr The album is additionally available from iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play. The full track list for Legacy Sessions: GAME Generation 5: 01. Final Fantasy VII 02. The Curse of Monkey Island & Grim Fandango 03. Super Mario 64 & The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 04. Grandia (ft. With Ether) "My goal as an arranger is to do more than just stir up nostalgia," reflects lead arranger Casey Ormond. "Instead, I focus on experimenting with and combining iconic themes to spark the listeners' imagination, creating new thematic and musical narratives. This is a method that I have refined through my piano works--Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XII and Valkyria Chronicles Piano Pieces--and I hope that you enjoy discovering and rediscovering the classic music of the fifth generation of consoles!" Additional arrangers include lead Valkyria Chronicles orchestrator Nicole Brady, Tristan Coelho, and guitar duo With Ether, who have recorded an energetic medley from Grandia. The production of Legacy Sessions: GAME Generation 5 has been headed by producer Demetri Potiris, who has worked with both the Eminence Symphony Orchestra and the renowned sound studio of Hitoshi Sakimoto, Basiscape. His experience producing live game music events and recording sessions for original soundtracks like the Tactics Ogre remake, Tekken 6, and the Valkyria Chronicles series sparked his desire to produce Legacy Sessions, which has been planned as a series that will explore other gaming generations, including the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. If you have any questions or comments on the album, it's production or game music in general, please let us know here!
  5. Hi, I sampled the first few bars from Final Fantasy X-2 Theme Song Wind Crest The Three Tails (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQm2dO0qI5g) with FL Studio. Was aiming for a new soul sound with epiano and bass. Near the end of the song it kind of gets away from it because the song transition felt like it need something slightly different so added a some synthesizers. I don't think it sounds too bad but good criticism is welcome. I would like some feed back. Enjoy. Thanks for listening.
  6. Hi, Sampled the score March of the Dreadnoughts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV4lbn29T_c from Final Fantasy XIII. Easily the worst Final Fantasy game but has some good music scores. I wasn't really going for anything the music kind of arranged itself. Has a poppy and clubby beat. Doesn't sound too bad but of course feedback and criticism are always welcome. I think I would like to optimize the sound I have so any suggestions will be considered. Enjoy. Thanks for listening.
  7. I think this soundtrack is one of the best around, yet it has so few remixes. Why is that? Is it the difficulty of producing quality tracks based on the original arrangement? Any of the awesome tracks from the game would be great, but I do have a few favorites among them: Who is up for it? :3
  8. Hey there! Nice to meet you all, my name's Alex, long time lurker actually. I've stumbled upon OCReMix when I discovered the Voices of the Lifestream album. It was then, inspired by such amazing work by so many talented people, that I decided I too wanted to start producing and composing music, even though I didn't have any background in music, it seemed like a good moment to start. Almost three years in, I've grown confident enough to submit something here with serious intentions. The track is an orchestral arrangement I made of a Final Fantasy VII track, "On That Day, 5 Years Ago", which is one of my most favorite tracks ever from Nobuo Uematsu. I'm not sure if it's good enough though, as it's written in a genre that is quite outside of my comfort zone, I'm more an electronic/action sound design, but since I'd definitely love to become better with orchestras I tried to make it this way. Any feedback from both the mods and the fellow composers of the forum would be more than greatly appreciated! Thank you so much, Alex Links to the remix & to the original track: Remix - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2tJmHuW7Z8 Original Track - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEZNywlt_gM
  9. Hello everyone! My first post on this forum. I only recently found out about is forum, can you believe that? I want to share with you a cover (yes, cover, not really a remix) from FFIX. This cover contains the songs "The place I'll return to someday" and "Terra" (by Nobuo Uematsu). For "The place I return to someday" I could not find a high quality recorder ensemble version of this song yet, so I decided to give it a try. I tried to mimic the original, using real instruments (recorders) instead. For the second part of the cover; "Terra", I played around a bit. Although I stayed close to the original arrangement and feel of the song (I think), I did make some changes. I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with your feedback.. any feedback. I realize I probably won't be able to submit this as a remix (as it sounds close to the original), but that was not my intention anyway. (The cover was done before I discovered OCR). I hope you enjoy it! Best, Impluo
  10. Ahead On Our Way A little remaster of my favorite FF5 tune!
  11. So for the past year, I've been "trying to find a new voice" as a musician. It just seems like for the past half decade, my whole artistic career was hitting rock bottom. I just wasn't satisfied with things I was creating. Then I had a revelation. I was only composing music and creating other art for my own benefit and it wasn't for anyone else to really take seriously or enjoy. So basically in a nutshell, I'm composing for other people and it has been a profitable business. Here's my latest original FF style track which can be used free of charge for any game. http://soundcloud.com/aarparmd/a-wild-creature-appears Or you can find other stuff I'm working on at http://soundcloud.com/aarparmd And to all the haters: you have no idea how high I can fly.
  12. Alright, so it's been a long time since I've been here on OC Remix but I thought now would be a good time to come back with some of my latest remixes to see what others think. Starting off this time is a orchestra medley of the battle themes from Final Fantasy 1-9 so I hope to hear your feedback and thoughts on this medley that I put a lot of work into. Please let me know any thoughts you guys have! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0hHvSRXESU
  13. Hey everyone! My name is Josh Barron and I am not sure if some of you have heard of me but I used to have Kingdom Hearts piano collection project a few years ago. I have come back into the industry with a labor of love that has been going on for quite some time. I have assembled a group of string musicians to perform arrangements from various game titles. I will be making an album and this album will be called The ETHEReal String Project. Here is the tracklist: 1. Fang’s Theme for String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY XIII) Two Nordic Folk Songs for Piano and String Quintet (from ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM) 2. Song I: Secunda 3. Song II: Ancient Stones 4. Trisection for String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY TACTICS) 5. Eruyt Village for Piano and String Quintet (from FINAL FANTASY XII) 6. I Was Lost Without You for Piano and String Quintet (from MASS EFFECT 3) 7. And Thus Fate Becomes Cruel for String Orchestra (from HEROES OF MANA) 8. Eternity ~ Memories of Light and Waves for Piano and String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY X-2) 9. Honor, Sacrifice, Glory: Variations on Themes from Halo 2 for String Orchestra (from HALO 2) 10. Still Alive for String Orchestra (from MIRROR’S EDGE) 11. Tactical Espionage Suite for String Orchestra (from METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY) 12. Forest of Awakening (Original Composition) 13. Sulyya Springs for Viola and Piano (FINAL FANTASY XIII) The release date will be July 28th. I am posting this to generate awareness of this project in the hopes that many of you will enjoy this music I have worked so hard to create. Feel free to check out the samples and complete tracks that I have provided on my SoundCloud page which can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/josh-barron/sets/etherealstringproject Enjoy and please offer feedback as I always look to improve . Keep in mind the recordings aren't final versions so the sound may or may not be different in the final release.
  14. Heavensward has been out for a month now and after taken in it's wonderful soundtrack I've come here to make a few request! First up Ravana's Theme (quest titled Lord of the Hive may or may not be official track title, ost won't be released for a few more months sadly) is a two part theme. The second part of the theme shifts in at half health. That occurs around the 5:20 mark. Would love to hear a prog rock, or metal remix of these themes ..or heck just a metal remix of the second phase theme would be awesome. If needed, I could link to the official lore forums which contains a thread with the lyrics. Next up is the THANKFULLY new Dungeon Boss Theme. This track is heard in all new dungeons, with the exception of the final main scenario dungeon. Again, a metal remix would be appreciated. Though I'd be happy with any other style And finally last request is still kind of a spoiler for those who've yet to complete the main scenario quest so spoiler tags will be in use. My last request is a metal remix of the epic conclusion to the 3.0 patch, Knights of the Round. Well technically King Thordan and the Heavens Ward If you can't tell..been on a bit of a metal binge, but if anyone thinks they can remix these in any other genre I'd still love to hear them . Thank you for your time.
  15. Hey! I've been trying to learn more about the overall process of recording, EQ'ing, mixing, using virtual instruments and mastering. Still very amateurish but I thought I'd share and see what advice people might have and hope they enjoy. For this track I was going for something a little more moody than the original, which can be found here. Youtube: SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/logan-r-dowell/on-the-other-side-of-the-mountain
