  1. Still learning, but I'd like to hear some comments. Enjoy if you can: Soundcloud.com: Jnrd - Dnbshiet#3
  2. Something I started working on last night. It's for a game (that's taking FOREVER to be made). The game is of the Action/Adventure genre...not sure if that'll help you hear this any better, but oh well. xD I dunno, I guess I've kinda hit a bit of a wall as to how to expand on this theme. I suppose I'll give it another shot later on tonight when I'm feeling music-y. But if you have any ideas, let me know. Also, I really wanna know if this fits the theme it was meant for. And if not, how can I improve this to make it fit the theme? Criticize to your hearts content people, something is better than nothing. ------------------------------------- Just worked on this for a few hours this morning. Right now, it's good as a looping track, but I intend on expanding this some more. This track has nothing to do with the game from above...but I figured it'd be stupid to make another thread. Thoughts? Comments? Critique? Let 'em rip!
  3. Hi there! Recently, I've been teaching Web Design and in such weirdness, taught Flash using a Sonic and Katy Perry Site (the students figured I like both). So, I bring you the logical musical conclusion - http://www.goear.com/listen/fe74592/I-Kissed-A-Girl-%28Marble-Mix%29-Spunodi-%28Katy-Perry-vs.-Sega%29 Is it worth continuing for more than a laugh? Feedback appreciated.
  4. Since my remix was turned down, I am redoing it based on the critiques given to me. I'm trying to make it less repetitive and have already added new things to it. Also, I'm trying to fix the quality so there's no distortion. Hopefully it turns out better the second time around.

  6. Hey, OCRemix I'm sitting here and I threw this together after scrapping something I had been working on. It's my first attempt at remixing anything, really, so... I tried to just go basic with Ocarina of Time's Windmill Hut (or Song of Storms) theme (with Ice Cavern at the beginning). After 2:57, it's just a loop of the main rhythm (so you can stop listening then haha) and I was wondering if I should put a solo on top of that (probably will). So what do you guys think? Any instruments feel out of place, anything feel like it should be there and isn't? Thanks, OCR, I hope to get some helpful criticism haha Download link - http://www.mediafire.com/?n5mjnmmhrnn
  7. Fancy new version: This is the recording from our debut concert, live June 27th. This is probably the final version of the piece, barring finding someone with better mics to spend a day with us recording. We were pretty fatigued at this point, this piece being 7 of 8 on the program, following Locke's Theme for Brass Quintet. Yes, THAT Locke's Theme. It's quite the chop buster, but it's also a hoot to play. It was a good day for the Oakwood Brass Conspiracy. ---------------- Youtube Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBeMTXZ56XY ----------- Old text w/o link to old, inferior material. Fresh from our morning rehearsal, this is the Tree of Mana theme from Legend of Mana, arranged by me for brass quintet. Recorded using the Zoom H2 hand recorder, which doesn't pick up nearly enough of the overtones of most brass instruments for my liking. Especially tuba. God, how can I be in tune and still somehow manage to sound sharp on those low Gs? Ugh. Anyway, we're still trying to figure out proper balance - it's hard to tell if the horn needs to play louder, or if it's just an issue of mic placement. Hopefully things will sound better using more & better microphones. It's a good start though IMO.
  8. Source tune is "Welcome to Fyrestone" link is this: Newest version, v5 http://www.tindeck.com/listen/cxnr some stuff is messy n stuff because I've worked on this for a little bit and stuff ramble ramble critique is welcome etc Borderlands! Notes: I'm liking v5 so far much more than v4. Even v3 (first one i put up) was better than v4 =o
  9. I started drawing this up a few weeks ago and quickly got discouraged. I was going for an epic orchestral arrangement of Red XIII and Seto's themes, but found that the the melodies dont readily lend themselves to this style of music. The harmonies and melodies are very static, so it's hard to create a feeling of growth and forward motion. I thought I would post this since I revisted it and still have some ideas with where I want to go with it. http://www.box.net/shared/ou1tkkjt2e
  10. Okay, so there have been a few changes ive made out of originality. i altered just a few chords for a different effect. this is probably the piece where i have the most drums. I thought it was pretty cool. but please, tell me what you all think!!! Link: http://www.youtube.com/user/AlmightyArceus#p/u/6/3bo4ZBBzZms
  11. Source - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4-cb9sxhaA So far, this is just a cover, but I'd love to try and expand on what I've done with this piece of fine music. You already get a sense of feeling "love," but I want to flesh that out some more and really make that feeling shine. Regardless, what I've presented to you is the basis for how the rest of the composition will be. Orchestrated awesomeness. If you hear any issues with what I currently have, please let me know so that I can correct said issues. I just made this earlier today and then called it quits for the day. I guess staying up all night had something to do with that. ^^; I'll try and have an update within the week. Enjoy.
  12. here's a wip, i wanted to hear your opinion about it probably i wont finish it in some time cause the .fl file isn't with me right now and probably will take me some time to get it the end is not meant to be take too seriously since its just something i started enjoy, CnC please Click here to listen to project.mp3
  13. Updated 07/07/10 I work for a medical animation company that did an animation a couple of years ago in which the subject expert insisted on being his own narrator (as opposed to using a professional), so the original voiceover (VO) was pretty bad. As a joke, I threw together a cheesy dance mix with his VO in it over a couple of lunch breaks. Our company recently re-recorded the VO with a female professional and now the company owns our own version of the VO, so I decided to recreate the track with this new VO since I already had a head start. Then I decided to put some effort into it and make it a video game remix. After trying a couple of game tunes, the simplicity of the Metroid melodies seemed to work well as substitutes for the original synths. The Title Screen intro fit in the sections where the VO is simply being spoken and I was able to substitute the main Title Screen tune for the original synthesizer dance riffs in the chorus. and Item Discovery are also used. Thanks for listening.
  14. Hey guys! I decided to take a break from work and put together a mix of my favorite song from TWEWY, a catchy J-Pop song called Calling. Instead, I'm doing it like a punk garage band. I'd love feedback on the singing, since I know that's my week spot. Production and arrangement are WIP but criticism and comments of any sort are always appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to listen, let me know what you think! Update! Totally re-recorded the vocals and updated the mixing. Take a listen! NEW [6/26/10]: OLD:http://tindeck.com/listen/hgnb http://tindeck.com/listen/gulx http://tindeck.com/listen/lmpz Here's the source, for those unfamiliar with the game:
  15. So, this is a remix of the main theme from Luigi's Mansion. Not much to say about it, it is what it is. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. It's also just named "Weegee's Mansion" for right now because I can't think of anything better, so if you have a name you think fits let me know! UPDATE: Edited the mix a bit. A wee bit faster, and added parts of a song from Super Mario Land 2, "Pumpkin Zone," which is why I named it Weegee's Lanturn.
  16. So this is something I'm working on - opening, intro and first section only. My issue is that everything I write tends to turn into an extended series of solos over an unchanging bassline, with possibly a few "choruses" thrown in. I want to make a change: what could I do with this piece to make it more interesting? (This, by the way, is my first post.)
  17. I started this a little while ago but haven't managed to set time to finish it. I wanted to used a few sources for this, mostly containing something to do with forests in the title of the track. Would dig having some feedback Click here to download Leaves Of Hyrule.mp3

  19. Just a little background, the Windmill song from Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite VG songs ever, so I thought I'd try and do it some justice with this. I'm labeling this a WIP since, I'm not 100% satisfied with the mastering persay but for the most part this is a finished song atm. Whaddya think? Close to being submittable? A remix/re-composition of the Windmill song from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Re-imagined in a dark and melancholy mood, the windmill is no longer a cheerful and enchanting place. In my version, Kakariko Village is no longer the place where young Link once lived as a boy. As a growing darkness has spread across the land, the people have fled their homes and all that is left are decaying ruins. I made some changes to the original composition of the song, including an intro, an interlude at about 1:35, some descending basslines and a couple other things. "Ruins of Kakariko" is an idea I had for a possible project, basically a dark version of the ZOoT soundtrack. All comments welcome! Thanks! Leave a comment or two on my soundcloud too if ya like. http://soundcloud.com/djcolletta/dj-colletta-haunted-windmill-ruins-of-kakariko
  20. My first contribution and 2nd post here! It's a little synthy take on the Goldeneye theme, with a few hints of Chaos Engine in there towards the later stages...let me know what you think! Scroll down for updated version.
  21. this is a little project to see what I could do with different presets that I haven't tried to use, the sound scape still needs work (MOER youtube). but this is what I have so far, I want to get some suggestions on what I should maybe do. I have my own Ideas, but I'll hold them for now. thanks for listening. Click here to listen to the lost one.mp3
  22. Link to this WIP: http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=823 Be aware that this includes less than stellar samples and short bus tuba part that can't keep time to save it's life. Samples are Kontakt Silver for Sibelius 3, and I haven't figured out how to improve that without spending money I don't have. About this WIP: I'm trying to arrange/transcribe the ending theme from the original Metroid for my brass quintet, to be performed and recorded along with a couple other Metroid tunes in celebration of the release of Other M. The other pieces I'm working for that are the Brinstar, Original Theme, and Maridia tracks. This track is giving me a lot of trouble as the piece has lots of moving 16th lines that I was forced to break up in order to render them playable, trumpet embouchure fatigue is a real threat in the original registers, etc. Actual arrangement has never been my strong suit. Mostly what I tend to do put things in appropriate octaves, fill out chords, create a Wall Of Sound or two, and call it a day. Many times I find that this is all I really need. Case in point, my arrangement of the Tree of Mana (http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=824) theme from Legend of Mana. My group will be performing this on Sunday, so hopefully the recording will be good enough to be submitted to OCR. Anyway, suggestions as to improving the arrangement, counterpoint, etc of the Metroid Ending theme? Thanks!
  23. Another attempt to familiarize myself with a program I've been using for half a decade. Source is Rainbow Road.I was kind of winging it when I was doing the mix. Usually when I try to do some type of house/techno mix I use unfit drums. I think this time I might have just lacked some percussion. Direct Link Source
  24. I'm working on a track for the Wild Arms project with Jade Lee Dragon and I finally have an intro. Unfortunately, the only really commonality between my song and the original is key, so I'm waiting to hear from Jade before I move forward. I guess I'm just looking for some feedback.. (link removed)
