  1. This isn't the first remix from a game I've completed, however it is one I am more confident with: https://www.bandlab.com/vodouqueenxiii/groove-of-the-ancients-jazz-funk-dance-mix I decided I might as well throw myself into the deep-end (hope I'm doing it right), but yeah. Any advice, pointers, or criticisms (good or bad) would be great. Hoping to get something into submission at some point... I realize Cakewalk / BandLab is not on the usual list of DAWs to work with, by the way, but it's all I have to work with at the moment. I am extremely new to composing, arranging, mi
  2. I want to start out by saying how much I LOVE this site and HUGELY appreciate all the super awesome, talented remixxers who have given me my best driving tunes for years. There's nothing cooler than hearing hot new takes on game tracks that mean a lot to me. So, that said: Hi! I'm Rowena, from Cape Town, South Africa. My tiptop gaming franchise is LoZ, and I found this place after seeing some of the Link To The Past special album in a YouTube Let'splayer's video on Lynel fighting. I have a newb-o-rama question: if there's a game track that there's no remixes of -- specifically in thi
  3. HI all I'm a long time OC Remix fan and I've decided to take the plunge and try some creating. I had an electric piano about 30 years ago that was MIDI compatible but never used MIDI. I think MIDI was new then. I've been reading Remixer profiles and the forums learning the lingo, etc. This led me to FL Studio. So let me ask, overall what percentage of the music here is 100% sampled? I don't know if sampled is the word. The other way to ask this is what percentage of music here uses outside instruments? And, of those, what part is digital (Keyboard) vs. say, electric guitar. We play v
  4. So I just tried using samples in my music for the first time, only to find out I have zero clue how to use them. Whatever I make is garbage, I cant get a simple instrument out of the songs provided for the life of me. I want to take a muted trumpet sound from an old 1920's song I got with a sample pack, but it just isn't working. My second issue is that I cant figure out for the life of me how Reaper even works. Ive been using LMMS this whole time, and in Reaper I cant seem to find anywhere any means to even use a sf2 file. I need help with all of this, I expected to have a fun time lear
  5. Hello! So I'm very new to the production scene, this is actually the third full track that I've ever created, so I'm still learning the ropes. That said, I'm looking for a lot of honest feedback on how to improve. I am getting a better feel for the tools available to me, and I've paid for very little beyond the basic ones offered in FL Studio. I have some honest self-feedback notes here that I'll post after a few others have evaluated it. Thanks.
  6. Hey guys, lil bit of background before I post the track. Background in a lil bit of music, my mom was a piano teacher, so got started on that at an early age. Tought myself guitar. Still kinda suck at that. Bought FL Studio about a year ago, dabbled in it, picked up a old Yamaha keyboard with MIDI out to try to make some tunes, as well as a Blue Yeti for the aforementioned terrible guitar playing. Finally decided earlier this week that I would suck it up and make use of the $200 I threw at FL Studio, and make something I would be proud of showing off, and possibly sell if people thought it w
