OverCoat Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 http://edition.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/02/26/game.tunes/index.html for interviewing Pixelh8, mentioning Aleksi Eeben, and the beginnings of chips as meager cracktros Quote
Mustin Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Very nice. Aside from "Air Guitar." What the fuck?! Quote
djpretzel Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 "It's very eco-friendly too in recycling, they are indeed doing they're bit for the planet". Ugh... CNN has pretty lax editorial standards.... Good attention, but could have name-dropped a dozen other artists quite easily, and didn't.... Quote
The Mutericator Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Good attention, but could have name-dropped a dozen other artists quite easily, and didn't.... Personally, I think knowing how the whole thing started and explaining what chiptunes are is a bit more important than trying to blatantly advertise your fellow artists to people who don't even know what a chiptune sounds like. Uh-huh. Don't know where the above bitchiness is coming from, but if you really wanted to show people what a chiptune sounds like, a couple links to artists with music readily available seems more like "obvious" than "advertising"... as opposed to a single MySpace profile... Also: "One man who has been helping to raise Chip Tunes profile is British Broadcasting Corporation Radio One DJ Huw Stephens." "Stephens believes that Chip Tunes originality and distinctive sound is behind the scene's growing popularity." I'm unclear as to what's going on here in terms of the English language...it's not possessive... it's a proper noun... IT'S A SERIES OF CHIP TUNES.... At any rate, it's awesome to see chiptunes at all on CNN in the first place. Quote
Sinewav Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Uh-huh. Don't know where the above bitchiness is coming from... It's CNN. It's basically the left-leaning version of FOX. Except that at least FOX has reasonable standards for spelling and punctuation. That being said, they at least had their facts straight. It was an interesting read despite its flaws. Hopefully, some people who have never heard of chiptunes will become interested as a result of this article. Gotta give CNN points for trying. Quote
