lordkarawasa Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Hi i'm new to this forum ,but i am a weapon drawer and i wanted to know if you could enter your own weapon for the contest? just wanted to know cause that would seriously cut down my options. so i know if i can use my own custom ideas. A way to get your art out there.....its an achievable goal. Quote

Sindra Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Uhh....I thought this was a competition about video games. Ya know, video games that are out. With weapons that have already been devised. I don't see why, if you're a weapons designer, you can't take a crack at recreating a weapon from a video game. Quote
friendlyHunter Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 The way I see it, it needs to involve a weapon from a videogame. Though it could also involve a lot of original design. In my opinion, these examples would be acceptable: - A re-imagination of the Biggoron Sword that looks little like the original, but is recognizable because it's huge and Link is holding it, or he's using it against an enemy from Ocarina of Time. - An original weapon design (alone), but with certain elements that make it CLEAR that it's from a certain game (e.g. you can tell it's Ivy's sword because it's a freaking whip sword. Or you can tell it's the Master Sword because it has a purple handle with the triforce symbol.) - A character/unit/creature from the Warcraft universe holding a completely original weapon design. - A drawing of Samus pointing her smoking arm cannon at a big-ass explosion in the background. (But that's not quite something a weapon designer would want to draw most, is it?) - A weapon in a place/setting that makes it clear what game it's from. - A weapon of a certain style that's drawn in an art style that makes it clear what game it's from (e.g. drawn in Okami's style, or Killer 7's style). Things that I think would NOT be acceptable: - An original weapon design where you can't tell what game it's from at all (e.g. no clues in the background or on the weapon or anywhere), even if the weapon design was inspired by a certain game. I haven't started yet, but my entry's gonna be a little less "weapon-y" than most of those things I listed... or rather, a big portion will involve drawing non-weapons. [Edit] With what I said there, I should add that you should really have a game in mind when you design/draw your weapon(s). Quote
atmuh Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 ok ya you guys are right original sillys are out Quote
Cottus and Gyes Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 And just to add one more knife to your back, it HAS to be created in this month. p.s. If you created a weapon with specs to the previous posts but you started it in June or earlier, S.O.L. Quote
relyanCe Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I've started sketches on mine, and I think this month's entry is gonna be preeety gewd! How's everyone else going? Quote
The Author Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Bad, I think I might not be able to submit anything worth it. Quote
The Pezman Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I can't draw, paint, sculpt, or do pretty much anything with my hands. Trust me. For the future, what forms of art are acceptable? Photographs? Significantly altered existing images? Well-textured and colored 3D models/scenes? Please let me know. Quote
atmuh Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 Photographs? yes Significantly altered existing images? no Well-textured and colored 3D models/scenes? if you do all the modeling and make all the textures Quote
lordkarawasa Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 thanks for the feed back.......this forum is a lot nicer than others.....i've been shunned from others for asking questions like that Thank you Quote
Sindra Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Unless you're in OffTop. Ok, my lineart is done. Tomorrow begins the tedious task of laying down flat colors. BUMP. Quote
Cottus and Gyes Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I'm slowly disliking mine more and more... so tempted to do a 3d model of it but I don't know if I have the time. I could give it a shot though. Quote
The Author Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Unless you're in OffTop.Ok, my lineart is done. Tomorrow begins the tedious task of laying down flat colors. BUMP. We still love people in Offtop. It's just more like a S&M relationship than romantic love. Quote
atmuh Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 only one entry so far WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE Quote
Gollgagh Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 We still love people in Offtop. It's just more like a S&M relationship than romantic love. that's some tame S&M Quote
The Phalanx Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Family issues have popped up (dad + heart attack = HOLY SHIT WTF) so I haven't even so much as considered an entry. Aside from like, Donatello's bo staff. But that, like in the games, would be cheap and unfair. Quote
atmuh Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 dude that sucks i hope your dad is ok :/ Quote
Sindra Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Ok, flat colors are down, time to do shading then hopefully a simple background. How's everyone else doing? Quote
