ClouStrizi
I wanted to know if OC allows users to share their original (non remixed) game music with others. You know, a thread for sharing and commenting on original game music instead of all remixes of published music by renowned composers. Is this allowed or would I get banned, because I got banned when I made a thread for this at Gaming Force Forums in the 'General Game Music Discussion' section. I guess if my music were to be in a mainstream video game then that thread would have been welcomed there? So I know Gaming Force doesnt allow it. Do we at OC allow it?, and if not, where can I find a forum based site that has game music enthusiasts that will allow its users to post links to their original game music and comment on each others work. Please advise, thanks in advance.
OverCoat
What do you mean by original game music? Few people here have actually made such things There is, however, my Free Music Thread. There's also a site I hardly frequent called Sakari Infinity which hosts music intended for use in videogames.
ClouStrizi
Thank you very much OverCoat. You are much more kind than those at Gaming Force. Safari Infiniti is more of what I am thinking of. The site kinda blows though. I wish there was a more mainstream site i.e OCR, GFF, but for original game music. I mean it would be nice to just have a thread like, hey here is a link to this new boss track I am working on, and then have someone reply like yeah, that would make a great boss theme. You know something along those lines, it doesn't even need to be fancy. In the meantime I will be checking out that Safari Infiniti site and see I can listen to people's original compositions. I have only heard those of renowned composers and my own. So it would be nice to hear what everyday people like myself are coming up with and the styles they bring to their music. Thanks again. Liontamer
But yeah, no sharing of game soundtrack MP3s if they're from published soundtracks, which is also a ban-able offense. Slightly Dark only hosts MP3s of out-of-print soundtracks, so it's OK to link to them, but otherwise don't. Game sound format files (NSF, SPC, VGM, PSF, USF, etc.) are OK. DarkeSword
If you're talking about original music composed by you in a supposed 'video game style,' post that in the Non-Remixes forum. If you're talking about original tracks from video games, like posting up Final Fantasy soundtracks for download, then don't do that. We don't allow it here. It's a bannable offense. Blue123
Yup yup, so if you've say made some music for a video game, then that can go into the non-remix area. In fact, I've seen things that aren't even game music in there. Just make sure you don't distribute anything that's being sold.
