Less Ashamed Of Self
The Show (One zip file ~200MB) --- Hey gang, miss you all, s'been a while. So how much do you love art, live dj shows, break dancing, and drinking with cool art nerds? A lot? Killer. This announcement goes out to anyone in the Toronto area interested in checking out a live show in a very very interesting venue. ART JAM Place: Sheridan College; the Connexion bar Time: 8:00pm-Midnight, on Friday the 28th Price: Free Wait, What's going on?: Basically, there's a bunch random stuff painted white (last time there was a bicycle, a PSX, a genesis, a bunch of appliances... this time I know there's at least an electric guitar) as well as a bunch of normal canvases set up, and everyone paints everything with the provided art supplies... including some models walking around in slim to none. There's also a band which will be performing, a break dancing set, a projector showing live photoshopping, and a decent amount of drinking. But as if THAT wasn't cool enough; yours truly will be the DJ and my playlist will look something like this: 75% 'Mainstream with a beat' (everything from Daft Punk to Pendulum, Royskopp, Mr. Scruff, Boards Of Canada, Theivery Corporation, Aphex Twin and everywhere in between) 10% VGM (Jet Grind Radio, Brawl, Katamari Damacy) 10% VGRemixes (Skrypnyk, Rellik, Joshua Morse, GameBox, Nicole Adams) 5% Originals from within the vgm community (Tepid as Blue Satellite, Zircon, as well as other suprises) Interested? Get a couple friends together and plan a road trip. I don't have tonnes of room for people to crash or anything but I promise it IS gonna be worth the trouble... I've been to two art jams so far and it's just about the greatest concentration of cool things you can imagine... the only thing that really sucks about it is that it's only 4 hours! For those who can't make it, I should be recording the show and uploading it eventually... if all goes according to plan that is. Hope to see you guys there! -Luke, LAOS

Less Ashamed Of Self
3 guys collaborating on a cool piece. Floor shot, note the breakdancing. Two of the models. The guys in the corner with the laptop had his photoshopping projected on a wall. One was me.

Less Ashamed Of Self
Hey guys, coming up this Friday. Rayza? Skrypnyk? Was that a maybe? A yes? I can find you room to crash if you need it. Anyone else have exclusive WIPs that might do well in a set like this? I can still feature a track or two (maybe) if they really want and it's not total shit. In other news, I was worried I wasn't going to get any media since borrowing a second laptop was proving to be a bad idea. But I'm buying a new MP3 player expressly for capturing the concert... so unless things explode or something... it's pretty much definite. Skrypnyk
As long as my friends don't bale on me, I think I can make it.
Global-Trance
Hey Laos, did you get my PM? I sent you a couple bootlegs
FiremanJoe
Sounds awesome, kind of wish i could be there. Seconded. Definitely record your set and post it, and photos! Wish stuff like this happened around my neck of the woods.
Less Ashamed Of Self
Well it looks like the mp3 player world is straying from line-in ports. FUCK that. Anyway, I snagged a neat little voice recorder... it was the only portable electronic device in two stores WITH a line-in. At it's highest quality, it can record stereo at 128kbps for 8 hours... so that should do the trick. Global-Trance; I got your mashups; I sent you a pm about them. Skrypnyk, your friends? Are you bringing more than yourself? Please say yes...
Skrypnyk
my friends are my only source of transportation. so they kinda have to come.
Less Ashamed Of Self
my friends are my only source of transportation.so they kinda have to come. Meh, if they all hate to paint things just tell them to bring a DS. It is a college after all, you will be in youthful gamer company. Also, I did a trial recording with the sound recorder... it picks up the line out from my lappy pretty well. So short of my new recorder going missing, or the mixing board (being rented today) not having a 1/4 inch out, I will have media for you all. My roommate should be taking video, and there's always around 100 pictures floating around facebook. Oh, and I'll be wearing my black OCR shirt. Skrypnyk
so as planned, my friend will probably not have access to the car tonight, thus leaving me stranded 44 minutes away from said event. =(
Less Ashamed Of Self
Sucks to be you, it was great. I don't have time to post a full review yet or the files because I just woke up... at 2:30... and I need to catch a bus just after 3... But it was a pretty awesome set all things considered. It's definitely not gonna be my last show.
Less Ashamed Of Self
The Show (One zip file ~200MB) Included in the zip is live performances by a few other musicians. In the end my playlist takes up about 2 hours and 15 minutes of the playtime. Some band equipment set-up/tear-down can occasionally be heard but it doesn't lower the quality of my set much, it's far from original mp3/cd quality anyway. The Playlist: Pre-show: Ulrich Schnauss - Nobody's Home Shael Riley - Music Of My Duck Me & My Katamari - Shabadoobie Jamiroquai - Seven Days In Sunny June Boards Of Canada - Oirectine Domotic - Durchkomponiert Mr. Scruff - Blackpool Roll Minotaur Shock - The Broads Part 1: The Electric Mayhem - Sweet Tooth Jam Tsuneo Imahori - Cynical Pink Nightmares On Wax - Morse Fantastic Plastic Machine - Pura Saudade Audix & Nekofrog - Malevolent Mansion Apparat - Komponent (Telefon Tel Aviv Remix) Cursor Miner - Events Begin To Spiral Out Of Control Pendulum - Through The Loop Skrypnyk - Image 3 Nightmares On Wax - Ethnic Minority Part 2: Rellik - Dreaming On Distant Shores Toronto - Electric Tooth Brush Fantastic Plastic Machine - Adventure Fantastique Ambient & Skrypnyk - Back 2 Skala Bloc Party - Tulips (Minotaur Shock Remix) Part 3: Breakdancing: Mr. Scruff - Vibrate djpretzel - Ghetto Recursive Thievery Corporation - Coming From The Top Pendulum - Fasten Your Seatbelt Quad City DJ's - Space Jam Yves La Rock - Rise Up Blue Satellite - 8 Bit New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle (Step Pettibone Extended Mix) /Breakdancing Mr. Scruff - Get A Move On Mouse On Mars - Send Me Shivers Down Part 4: Less Ashamed Of Self - Hugh Downs The Futuristic Space Android Solvent - Black Turtleneck GameBox - The Fifth Season Part 5: Royksopp - Eple Jillian Goldin - Red July (Malcos Remix) Zircon - Hourglass Chemical Brothers - Star Guitar Nicole Adams (Featuring Starla) - Permutation Telefon Tel Aviv - I Lied Norwegian Recycling - Without The Brothers Bear --- The coolest part of the evening was when two complete strangers came up to me on stage after the show to shake my hand. The whole thing with people coming up to talk to you after the set is a good feeling isn't it?
