Bundeslang
The People's Remix Competition 137 PRCv6-07 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! First of all, a happy 2009. PRC136 is done, with two sources, a lot of remixers came up with something, six songs and one bonus MIDI rip mix. At the end, OneUp received the most points and he won the round. No double source today, but one source should be enough for a good round. OneUp isn't new to winning PRC's, he did it two times before, one of them was the start of this season (PRC131). Not Darkwing Duck this time, but something different. He picked an overlooked tune from a soccer game for the NES. World Cup (NES) - Golden Goal MIDI MP3 NSF (Track 23) I don't know the Nintendo game, I didn't even know it exists, but it's always interesting to get into these games by the music. With the start of 2009, a lot of things can happen. Let's get to work. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by MONDAY January 12th at 04:00 am ThaSauce time (Check my signature (below) and the ThaSauce page for the exact time left.. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of the previous contest can't take part (however, he's free to submit a Bonus Mix) but their vote will be doubled. You have one day extra because I don't have time at saturay/sunday. DZComposer
Interesting melody. I may give it a shot.
JH Sounds
I was gonna try to set a new record by posting a mix early, but I think I can sweeten what I have if I keep it longer.
Hardbeat Acolyte
Hehe sweet source. 0:42 reminds me strongly of River City Ransom, haha. Anyway, I'll see if I have time to mix something up =P
Rexy
That's because in Japan, Nintendo World Cup (to give the game's FULL title) and River City Ransom are marketed from the same videogame series (the Kunio-Kun set). Similarities in style are sure to be present in all aspects of the game's presentation. Heck, I remember picking something from this game for PRC70, in time for the 2006 World Cup; a quiet round though, but the voting was hectic, especially with Nineko involved and his fanbase cheering him on. I'm intrigued to see what comes out of this one. Good luck
JH Sounds
Hm... A bit of the source reminds me of a certain other video game tune. My remix plays up the similarities.
OneUp
Can't believe that some of you haven't played this game... This is one of the games that IS Nintendo for me
Sir_NutS
Can't believe that some of you haven't played this game... This is one of the games that IS Nintendo for me The game was kinda popular back then, yes. I find this song extremely attractive to remix, I will try to come up with something this time around. Tevin-Illithane
Sounds like a fun little source tune...might as well see if I can get in some last bit of fun before school work haunts me for another 4 months. XD
Hardbeat Acolyte
Well, I was going to sit this one out since I didn't come close to finishing my track, but I'm going to submit it as a full mix anyways just for the heck of it, LOL (Not an MIDI rip, but maybe an MP3 rip? Is that ineligible? ?_?)
OneUp
So... are we going to have extended time on The Extended Time?
Bundeslang
Here's the voting stage After the good turnout from the last rounds, around the holidays, we have three songs this time. Thu, Setokaibarocket and Just64helpin entered. I don't see any reason to disqualify MP3 Rips, so the songs are all accepted, no time extension. The mixing stage is over. To vote, you should do the following: - Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries - Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen - Fill in the rank of the entries from first to third. - State a reasoning for it. Participants are encouraged to vote, but they can't vote for themself. If they vote, a first place will be added to the score. They only have to fill in the other two entries. The winner of PRC136 (OneUp) has a vote that counts twice. You have until NEXT WEDNESDAY, January 14th at 3:59 am ThaSauce time, check my signature in the first post or simply the ThaSauce page for the exact time you have. The winner will get to choose the source tune for PRC138! The songs: Just64helpin - Golden Years Thu - From Major League to Minor League Setokaibarocket - Hardstyle Samplature
Chickenwarlord
Crap... Sorry, I had an entry, and technically it exists in MIDI form at my parent's house. Maybe when I visit them I'll post it . I HAVE LET YOU DOWN ONEUP.
Bundeslang
Crap... Sorry, I had an entry, and technically it exists in MIDI form at my parent's house. Maybe when I visit them I'll post it .I HAVE LET YOU DOWN ONEUP. I would like to hear it, I can make it a Bonus Track. It's results time. Three songs came up in this round. With 6 voters, the results are in. OneUp voted as well, his vote counts twice. Total number of mixes - 3 Total number of votes - 6 Highest possible score - 21 Setokaibarocket already won more then one PRC this season, but this time he ends with a last place wooden spoon, with 9 points. Just64helpin did the same. He ends higher as Setokaibarocket, but his 16 points weren't enough to win this round, it's a second place The winner of PRC137 is (a newcomer??) Thu with 19 points! Congratulations Thu, only one vote didn't give you the first place. You did very well, I liked your song a lot. You have won the right to bring the new source for PRC138. Remember to not submit a song that has been covered on OCR before. You can take a popular game (Like Mega Man 1 Wily Stage 1) or a less popular game (like Godzilla for the NES). Songs from site Projects can be used as well. I'm waiting for the source tune which should be submitted in two days (before January 16th at 11:59 am Eastern US Time). You should send your source submission to me by Private Messaging me here at Ocremix (or ThaSauce). Don't forget it. You should add a link to your source as well (like a MID, NSF, MP3 etc.) so I can't pick the wrong song. See you next Friday.
Thu
Hello, I am indeed a freshman here. OneUp is my brother and have pointed me to the PRC numerous times before, but this time I actually decided to join up, much because I liked the melody... This is also my first complete piece of music, remix or otherwise, I've finished in the last 7 years or so, and I got hooked again, so I hope I will be able to partake more in what seems to be a great community. One question, is there an easy way to see all songs that has previously been covered on OCR (and with that, I guess you mean the official OCR songs as well)? I do have a track in mind. Also, I don't think me or OneUp are going to vote for the other ones songs out of brotherly love (yeah, right), but if you want to take measures against some sort of collusion or whatever, that is entirely up to you. Just thought I'd mention it, and I continously tell him how much his songs suck, and I hope he will return that favour in case I start writing some more. Cheers. Bundeslang
I don't know there's an easy way. Just look in the # a b c d .... z above and click the game and check if the song is in the 'songs' list. If you pick an unknown game, there's a big chance it's allowed. Otherwhise you can ask your brother Anyway, you didn't need the brother love to win. I voted you first as well. I'm not going to give penalty's because if I didn't know you are, I'm not able to.
