Thin Crust
The main character of Final Fantasy Versus XIII is named Noctis Lucis Caelum, and he has what looks like an engine block on his sword. http://www.square-enix.co.jp/fabula/versus13/ Anyone want to take a stab at (pun intended) trying to figure out what it does? Atomic Dog
It transforms into a Shinra model Hardy-Daytona, and then a gunblade.
big giant circles
Japanese people love preposterous weapons, especially swords.
The Author
Well, the engine is used to superheat the sword, and when the person is slashed, the exhaust fumes are used to increase bleeding... Well that or it kinda looks cool.
Bleck
uuuuggggghh FF13 is going to be so bad
K.B.
It's an anti-gravity device that lessens the weight of otherwise-unwieldy swords. Not everyone has mako, you know. Also, it's not a sword-chuck, so I don't care.
Gollgagh
Oh great, another ridiculous sword. I had almost forgotten about FF8. oh pfff FF7 and FFX's were more ridiculous
Bleck
Oh great, another ridiculous sword. I had almost forgotten about every RPG for about ten years now. oops fixed that for you
relyanCe
Considering he has 13 weapons floating around him at all times (or something like that), he probably hasn't even noticed the big engine thingy on it and probably doesn't care. It's Japanese, nothing Japanese needs a point.
Atomic Dog
Also, it's not a sword-chuck, so I don't care. Hahahahaha! It's been like 5 years and that STILL cracks me up every time.

LuketheXjesse
FFX's were more ridiculous ??????????? What are you talking about? The swords in that game just looked pain cool.
Gollgagh
water sword? I think that's slightly more ridiculous than a gunblade I mean how do you make a sword out of water
LuketheXjesse
how do you make a sword out of water Magic? A sword made out of water just looks kick ass. Much less ridiculous than a gunblade to me. And at least the water sword looked like it was actually possible to lift (i.e. FF7 huge ass sword)
Gollgagh
Magic? A sword made out of water just looks kick ass. Much less ridiculous than a gunblade to me. what are you gonna make a sword out of flowers and pixiedust next? maybe we can try an air sword also, ridiculousness is not the antithesis of badassery, stop treating it as such you can have ridiculousness in a badass object so shut up about that

The latin is bad also. "Sky of Night light?" I mean I suppose it's supposed to be all badass, but it really isn't. That's the lamest name I've heard since "Cloud Strife." Wacky
Also I thought he was a woman Fucking Japs messing with my sexuality In Japan it's like men look like women and women look like naked porn stars just so people can tell whether a character is female or not
K.B.
Also I thought he was a womanFucking Japs messing with my sexuality In that vein, I was very relieved to learn that Lightening was a gal. Damned androgyny.
Atomic Dog
And at least the water sword looked like it was actually possible to lift (i.e. FF7 huge ass sword) Not only lift, but wield in such a way that you don't actually use the blade. See, in Crisis Core, apparently the Buster Sword was used to render people unconscious, not dead. If it was ever used at all, because Angeal didn't want to ding it up. Gollgagh
there were no bullets it just... fired the charge into the blade and the shockwave increases cutting power?

Atomic Dog
I love how all this talk in Crisis Core about how special the sword is, and then a few years later Cloud is just like, dragging it on the ground. What a dick.
